I like Maggie, Shayne books and this one is consistent with her others. Lily is a sweetheart of a heroin, and Ethan breaks your heart a few times. I was a little bit frustrated by Ethan at certain times, but it did hold true to how someone might feel if they were in his shoes. I was very happy that Lily was always there for him. You don’t get that in all books. Thank you, Negley and Maggie Shayne for this advanced copy.

This is a fast book with a predictable ending, but the path to the ending was enjoyable. Nice way to spend an afternoon on the beach. Thank you to net gallley for an advanced readers copy.

oh wow. Maggie has bought us a corker here. a book with a cowboy who you just want to love and do in many ways. and boy does he need it. his life hasn't been easy, his life has been everything but easy. his birth parents put crack through his heart and cracks in the belief of who he is as a person but also what he thinks he deserves. and what he feels he deserves is nothing. nothing good. and so he rejects all things. and does so so noone can reject him. this is hard with the family that found him and love him to bits. they circle round and do what they can to show him the love they know he needs and DOES deserve. but he keeps his walls built by keeping on the road.making music and moving on.
there is Lily in his heart though, the chink in his armour. but he knows he cant let her close. wont. for both their sake. hes a bad man,its running through his DNA.
but Lily knows different. shes SEE'S him. and has loved him for a long time. but she wont fight for someone who will push and push back.
but then time and events lead them together once again. and maybe this is the time that our cowboy finds his way home, be it in heart, place and person. maybe he can feel at home in himself.

A perfect summer day romance!

A singing cowboy and a nurse in love. I loved the Brand family, the mysterious Gringo-sombrero man, and the longing between Ethan and Lily.

I plan to read at least the first book in the Texas Brand series to see the beginning of Ethan and the Brand family.

The ending felt a little rushed to me, so I give the book 4 stars.
