This should be a slam dunk for me. A classic in the energy healing field, I listened to the 25th anniversary edition. Maybe I wasn't in the right headspace. Maybe I am not the right audience. Reading Anatomy of the Spirit wasn't a bad experience. I think I kept waiting to be blown away and that's a me problem. I am glad I read it. I'm open to revisiting it in the future when I will be more receptive to the message. But for me, right now, this was okay but not the transformational experience I was hoping for. However, a quick glance at other reviews will assure you that I am in the minority and if you are at all interested, you should give it a try for yourself. Thank you to Caroline Myss, Melanie Carey for her narration, Sounds True, and NetGalley for the audioARC.

This was a fascinating listen to me. As someone with multiple auto immune condition I found myself really leaning into some of the underlying messages about how our own mentality and decisions for non health related aspects of life impact our bodies ability to heal. Definitely a great book for anyone open to insight from a source other than insurance company driven health care.

I listened to Anatomy of the Spirit during my commute, and the audiobook experience was smooth and engaging. The narrator’s voice was pleasant, which made it easier to absorb the rich and sometimes complex ideas Caroline Myss presents. She offers a deep dive into how our emotional and spiritual lives shape our physical health.

What makes this book stand out is its unique blend of spiritual traditions. Myss draws from Hindu chakras, Christian sacraments, and the Kabbalistic Tree of Life to build a seven-stage model of energy centers in the body. It’s a bold synthesis, and she uses it to explore how illness often mirrors unresolved emotional patterns or limiting beliefs. The connections she draws are thought-provoking and invite serious self-reflection.

Overall, Anatomy of the Spirit is an informative read for anyone curious about the mind-body connection. It challenges you to look inward and consider how your energy, thoughts, and beliefs might be influencing your health. Whether you’re spiritually inclined or just exploring new ways to understand wellness, this book offers plenty to think about.

Thank you Sounds True Audiobooks for providing this book for review consideration via NetGalley. All opinions are my own.

Carolyn Myss' introduction reflects on the 25th anniversary of this title. Initially, Myss' reflections on this anniversary feel grandiose and self-congratulatory to a fault. That may be a turn-off for some listeners, but if they can persevere, the audiobook becomes quite compelling. It is a lot to digest as an audiobook. Not having much of a background in traditional religion can cause one to feel unfamiliar with some of what is being discussed, but it is all fascinating, especially when it comes to healing practices and the connections between Christianity, Buddhism, and Judaism. This is a good book for anyone exploring spirituality and its role in all of our lives. Whether what the author describes is true is worth debating. The notions are worthy of exploration and reflection.

Great audiobook, thank you NetGalley! This is a respectful, nuanced, broad approach to spirituality. It is informative and introspective, saturated with anecdotes and cultural commentary. I enjoyed hearing about each case study and learning the links between different spiritual practices and religions. That has always been something I have noticed and found interesting.
The three systems discussed were Kabbalah, Catholicism, and Buddhism (sometimes Hinduism). The Chakras were a strong basis for many points regarding healing spiritual wounds.
It is fascinating how medical intuition and other spiritual healing can be possible!

Having first read Anatomy of the Spirit in 2021, I was excited to revisit it in audiobook form—and it absolutely delivered. The narrator does a wonderful job, bringing clarity and calm to a text that’s dense with wisdom. Her voice made the listening experience smooth and engaging, making it easier to absorb the book’s profound spiritual insights.

Caroline Myss weaves together teachings from Christianity, Kabbalah, and Hinduism to explore the deep connection between our spiritual beliefs and physical health. The book is rich with information, yet accessible—offering practical ways to apply spiritual principles to the real, often messy circumstances of everyday life.

Listening to it this time around, I appreciated new layers I hadn’t noticed before. It’s the kind of book that rewards multiple readings—or listenings—and the audio format is an excellent way to take in the material, especially for anyone on a healing journey or seeking a more integrated view of body and spirit.

Highly recommended for those interested in mind-body-spirit healing, especially in audiobook format where the narration truly enhances the message.

Anatomy of the Spirit draws from ancient truths found amongst Christianity, Buddhism, Judaism and more. The author, Caroline Myss, worked for years as a medical intuitive - linking physical ailments to spiritual troubles. In this book, she explores the true causes of popular illnesses, and explains how we can initiate our own healing.

I found this to be extremely eye-opening, and quite revolutionary for the time, as this was originally released in 1995. This new anniversary edition includes a fresh preface by the author. This should be compulsory material for anyone who considers themselves spiritual. Five stars!
