I always enjoy books narrated by Stephanie Németh-Parker, and A Tour to Die For is no exception. She brought Capri Sanzio to life and did an amazing job with all of the other character voices.
This book was very entertaining and I loved how fierce and determined Capri was to solve the murder mystery.
I also appreciate the fact that so many real life true crime stories are talked about. It's mentioned that keeping these stories out there helps us remember these victims.
This was a great book!

I listened to the audio version of this book narrated by Stephanie Nemeth-Parker. This one was really fun to listen to. The narrator was very good, had different voices for the different characters and made those characters seem to pop right out at you.
I'd never heard of the author before. It was the premise of the story that made me pick this and I was not disappointed. It is about a single mom who has a true-crime podcast but also does walking true-crime tours in San Francisco. On one of her tours, someone claims to have seen a woman in danger in one of the windows, and the story takes off from there when Capri knows that she must find out what happened.
There are lots of twists and turns, dangerous moments, lots of suspects and even a little romance thrown in between Capri and one of the detectives also working the case. It all went together beautifully to give a fun, action filled and tidily wrapped up mystery.
Thanks to Macmillan Audio and NetGalley for the audiobooks. All thoughts are my own.

“A Tour to Die For” is an enjoyable mystery with a fun premise. Following a San Francisco tour guide whose true-crime walks suddenly collide with a real murder. Chouinard does a great job weaving local history into the plot, and the main character, Capri, has a likable, witty voice that keeps things moving.
That said, while it’s a solid read, it didn’t completely grab me the way I hoped. Some of the twists felt a little predictable, and I didn’t always feel the tension build as strongly as the setup promised. Still, the unique concept and San Francisco setting make it worth checking out if you enjoy cozy mysteries with a true-crime edge.

This one just wasn’t for me! I don’t think I ever felt fully invested in the characters/plot. The main character and I just didn’t align super well. But I think there are definitely readers that this book would be great for!

I was very excited to read this sequel to A Serial Killer Guide to San Francisco, but unfortunately it fell flat for me. I just wasn’t drawn in and invested in the story as much as I was hoping for.

The perfect second installment to The Serial Killer's Guide to San Francisco Mystery series. My husband even joined me in listening to this audio book and was able to easily follow along without having read the first book.

I don't do a recap, if you need that look at that elsewhere :D:
This is the second book in the mystery series, A Serial Killer Guide to San Francisco, and I enjoyed this one more than I did the first.
I think in the first book, I struggled to like the narrator, and I don't know what it was about the story; but in this book I guess it came together better for me.
I did speed up the narration which I think made a bit of a difference and I think there was better character development as well.
Should you read this book? Yes, if you like the following:
✔cozy mysteries, but not so cozy they make your eyes roll
✔character and plot driven books
✔not overly predictable and books that won't scar you for life.
✔cleaver dialogue but not overly witty
This won't be a book for you if:
❌you need a quickly paced book
❌you're looking for crazy twists
❌ you like very dark and twisted
I would recommend reading the first book, The Serial Killer Guide to San Francisco, but it isn't a must- you will not be lost, IMHO, if you choose not to read the first book before starting this one.
Hoping the series will just continue to improve because then it will be phenomenal. Big thank you to Netgalley and Macmillan Audio for the advanced audio copy of this book. All my opinions are my own.

(4.5 Stars) A Tour to Die For by Michelle Chouinard (September 23, 2025) Thank you, @macmillan.audio and @minotaur_books for the gifted advanced listening copy of one of my most anticipated mysteries of 2025!
Capri Sanzio is back as our intrepid single mom San Francisco true crime tour guide (and sweet pickle lover) - and she’s added podcaster and investigative journalist to her list of occupations. SFPD detectives would also add troublemaker. Homicide Inspector Dan Petito is hoping to add girlfriend. During one of her walking tours, a member of the tour group believes she sees a woman being attacked in an apartment window, but the police find nothing. Despite that, something doesn’t sit right with Capri, and so she does what anyone who has recently solved a couple of murders would do: she begins to poke around. Soon she finds herself in the middle of another murder investigation, and her life may hang in the balance.
This series is just an absolute delight! I love Capri, her daughter, her friends/co-workers, and how they care for each other AND deliver hard truths. Her newly evolving relationship with Dan is also great - it doesn’t play into predictable patterns and feels so refreshingly mature. Now to the mystery - I love a good mystery that starts with the mystery if if there’s even been a crime committed and this one has some great rear-window vibes. It also has tons of fascinating San Francisco history embedded into the story, lots of interesting characters, and several very surprising twists. Like the first book in the series, this is simultaneously mysterious, action-packed, fast-paced, funny, and cozy - which is a lot of fun!
🎧 Audiobook Thoughts: Stephanie Németh-Parker is back and such a perfect narrator for this story. She gives distinct voices to each character, making the words leap from the page into full-blown personalities through her performance - particularly in the case of Capri!

I am very particular about my narrators, I really enjoyed this one. I finished the book in two days, I couldn't put it down! I really enjoyed the story line, the podcast, and how real the story felt. A mystery that could truly happen. The love story blooming inside the other parts of the story was fun too!

I loved this. It was more on cute cozy mystery with just a hint of romance. I didn't realize it was book two in a series and while you don't need to read book one to understand what was happening i will be going back to read book one because I loved all the characters.

Loved it. Capri is such a great character. She's clever, tenacious and witty. The mystery was full of twists and turns that I couldn't predict. I also loved the interstitial chapters giving an overview of past real-life San Fransico crimes that brought the city to life for me. Supporting characters also return including her best friend and business partner Heather and their employee Ryan. Romance is also in the air with dashing detective Dan.
Stephanie Németh-Parker is the perfect choice of narrator. Her voice has the perfect tone, personality and matches how I’d imagine Capri would sound.
A fun and twisty mystery with a compelling heroine, I can't wait for more.
Thanks to Macmillan Audio and NetGalley for the ARC.

In Michelle Chouinard’s A Tour to Die For, readers get a little bit of everything—true crime, history of San Francisco, romance and a murder mystery.
Even though A Tour to Die For is the second book in The Serial Killer Guide to San Francisco series, I had to problem diving into the book and following the characters as there are ample references to the first book in the series. The story arc is straight forward, and the pace is fairly even throughout the book. Chapters on the history of the city and its most famous districts-- Mission District, Golden Gate Park, Financial District, and The Tenderloin—are included with scenes of Capri leading tours for her company, SF Killer Crime Tours. Additionally, there are several chapters on the history of the Barbary Coast, San Francisco, and the 1849 Gold Rush that provide some background for the current mystery. History buffs and true crime fanatics will love these additions.
I enjoyed the main character, Capri Sanzio, her best friend Heather, and of course, Detective Petito. I appreciated that Capri is in her forties rather than her twenties. It is refreshing to have a mature main character! She is smart and funny, and Ms. Chouinard’s characterization of Capri made me want to hang out with her or at least take one of her tours.
A Tour to Die For had enough characters and twists to keep me interested in the mystery, and I enjoyed the budding romance between Capri and Petito. I’ll definitely be reading Ms. Chouinard’s future installments in her The Serial Killer Guide to San Francisco series.
3.5 - 4 stars

This is a fun, light cozy that didn’t quite work for me. The beginning of the book speedraces through the events of the first book in the series before setting up the murder at the center of the second. The main character comes off as really immature. She brings up a lot of the qualms regarding true crime fandom and digging up family trauma, and then totally dismisses them citing vague girl-power reasons. I like the cast of characters and setting, but i just couldn’t connect with the main character.

A nice addition to the novel "The Serial Killer Guide to San Francisco."
Overall, the mystery kept me engage with the novel, as I wanted to understand what was going on and who the killer was. However, I will admit the romance between the officer and Capri. I can tell there's supposed to be this feeling of chemistry that brings them together, so he can be her source for the case. However, it feels really forced and clinical, as if it is only a plot element and not a piece of the story. I definitely get more buddy cop vibes from the two of them together.
I feel there are good clues to solve the mystery and I finished the novel satisfied.

4.5 ⭐️ Advanced Reader Review!
Capri Sanzio gives walking tours of San Francisco for a living. But not just any walking tours, true crime tours. So Capri knows to always expected the unexpected in her city. One day while hosting a tour, one of her guests claims to have seen a woman being attacked in her apartment. The police don’t find anything while searching the apartment, chalking it up to true crime fanatics being neurotic.
Capri believes that at first, but she could never forgive herself is someone was in real danger and she walked away. Plus, what investigative journalist can walk away from a scope like this? So Capri begins to dig into the case, finding herself involved in yet another murder investigation.
My thoughts:I love cozy mysteries, and this series is no exception. I also love learning more about San Francisco. This book is full of cool facts about the city throughout history. This story was thrilling and kept me coming back to know more and find out what really happened.
I also really like Capri! I feel like she’s a cool lady who I’d want to hang out with. I like all of the characters. We also got to know Heather and Inspector Petito more in this story. I feel like the more books I’ll read in this series, the more connected I’ll become to these characters.
The audiobook is narrated by Stephanie Németh-Parker, who is fantastic! She has a great tone of voice and is able to distinguish the characters really well. Audio is definitely my preferred way to consume this story.
Overall, I love a good cozy mystery, and this one was so great! The story was compelling and moved at a good pace, and I loved the characters! 4.5/5 stars

I was very excited for the second book in The Serial Killer Guide to San Franscico series. Bonus: I got to read it early! This book was fun and entertaining, much like the first book. Capri is a great character and I love her story. You don't have to read the first book in the series to enjoy this one. If you love the female investigator with a life storyline, you'll really enjoy this book.

If there was a tour like this when I was in San Francisco I would have loved to have taken it! I loved the little blips about San Francisco history at the start of each chapter, they were so interesting.
This is the second book in this series and I loved it, probably even more than the first book, because I now feel like I know the characters. This author has a way of writing that sucked me into the story from the start and I just couldn't stop reading until it was done.
I was fortunate enough to have both a kindle and audio copy of this book so I could go back and forth between reading and listening to the story. I have to say that the narrator Stephanie Nemeth-Parker was really enjoyable to listen to and really brought the characters and the setting to life for me. I will definitely continue with this series as audiobooks because of this narrator.
I would like to thank Netgalley, St. Martin's Press and Macmillan Audio for the opportunity to read and review this story.

This was a fun murder mystery. Easy and light listen despite the topic. It’s always fun when you throw in some romance and murder.

This is the 2nd book in the series to “The Serial Killer Guide to San Francisco.”
The main character is Capri Sanzio, who gives walking tour guides for a living. During the tour, a guest sees a woman being strangled. Capri calls the cops, and they say no foul play. Something doesn’t sit right, so Capri decides to take it into her own hands and begins investigating.
Tropes/Descriptors:
Whodunit
Suspenseful
Murder Mystery
Older FMC
Amateur Sleuth
Sub-plot Romance
First, let me say that this is absolutely what I am looking for when I say a “cozy” murder mystery. I appreciate the older FMC and love watching her unfold clues while still being relatable, showing that at any age, we can grow and try new things. Capri is testing her investigative skills when a character turns up dead, but that isn’t the only mystery we are tracking. We have the Overkill Bill and her grandfather, an artifact that needs to be deciphered, and a whole lot of murder. I love how the author sprinkled in facts about San Francisco while telling the story. The romance is more of a subplot; while we get snippets and one kind of spicy scene, the book's main focus is the mystery. The twists and ride this book took me on kept me enthralled, and I devoured this within 2 days.
The narrator (Stephanie) is perfect and brings so much life to the characters. I highly recommend the audiobook and will read more.
Thank you so much, Netgalley & Macmillan Audio, for the ARC copy.

Capri is such a quirky, funny lead — her true-crime walking tours through San Francisco are already cool, but then she stumbles into an actual mystery and things get wild. Lots of history mixed in (ships buried under the city?! who knew?) but it never feels like a lecture.
One thing I really liked is that Capri isn’t your typical twenty-something cozy heroine — she’s a little older, with life experience and a voice that feels fresh and relatable. It made her so much more fun to follow.
Confession: I didn’t read the first book before this one, but it worked as a standalone. That said, I enjoyed it so I’m going back to grab book one. I want to know more about Officer McDreamy and how they met. ;)
The mystery kept me guessing, Capri made me laugh, and the little hint of romance was just the cherry on top. Cozy, clever, charming without being saccharine, and suspenseful without being overwhelmingly dark.
