enjoyed A Tour to Die For—it’s a solid cozy mystery with a catchy premise and just the right amount of light suspense. Michelle Chouinard’s writing is charming, and the story kept me curious enough to stay engaged throughout.

Stephanie Németh-Parker Did a phenomenal job voicing all the characters to the point I forgot it wasn’t done in duet.

That said, it didn’t totally knock my socks off. Some plot twists felt a bit predictable, and I found myself wanting more depth or memorable character quirks to keep it lingering in my mind.

Still, if you’re after something that’s fun, breezy, and perfect for passing the time without demanding too much, this fits the bill nicely.

I loved this sequel!! Sometimes sequels are a little lackluster but I really enjoyed this one! I’m excited to see where this series goes since it seems like there’s an ongoing mystery along with the individual mysteries! I love this kind of blend of romcom and mystery vibe the series has going on as well! The narrator for this book was super good and easy to listen to!

When it became apparent this was the second book in a series I immediately paused and went and purchased the first. I could just tell this was going to be my kind of book!

This series is super cozy while still keeping the reader/listener engaged in the story. The main character, while much older than myself, is so relatable. I’m easily transported to her world and feel like I’m really living the story in her shoes.

I am hoping the author will continue to write as she’s quickly become one of my new favorites! Hopefully we get more adventures from Capri ;)

This sequel was such a fun and refreshing take on a mystery novel. I really enjoyed the first one, so I was so excited to get an early copy of this! It’s fun to hear San Francisco serial killer facts weaved into the mystery as well, with a side of romance and humor. Excited for the next installment, I can’t wait to see where the series goes, and wonder what capris next adventure will be!

Give me everything Michelle Chouinard writes! A book, a grocery list, anything!

A Tour to Die For was another satisfying, captivating mystery that I loved following Capri through. I loved the first book in this series, and wasn't worried about the sophomore slump like I would be with other series because as soon as chapter one was done, I was sucked back in. I think this cast of characters is so interesting, I love the relationship dynamics.

Love this series! I can't wait for the next, and recommend it to all mystery enthusiasts.

I was so excited to be back with Capri in this novel. The author also weaves San Francisco history throughout the book in the most interesting way, and I loved all the I learned while listening. I love an older main character, and this picked up perfectly from the last one. Capri was finally starting to grasp what she wants to do with the next stage of her life, and I liked how she didn't let anyone stand in her way, even Detective Petito. While giving a walking tour of San Francisco, one of the audience members witnesses a crime, and Capri put her investigative journalist skills to use after the police find no foul play. She was a great detective, just like the first book. I liked how she was methodical and took her time with different people in the book. While investigating, she also had to balance parenting her older daughter and her ex-husband. The characters were all vivid, and it was easy to keep everything straight. This was a solid mystery, and I hope there's another one coming after that ending.
Stephanie Nemeth-Parker captured Capri so well again. I couldn't imagine listening to this series without her voice being Capri.

Really enjoyed the book. Did not know that it was part of a series. Have not read the other one yet. I found the book to be a little comical at times. Good mystery. I like the main character a lot. She’s a good mix of humor and seriousness.

I was pleasantly surprised by home much i enjoyed this book! A romance and a mystery all mashed into one was a recipe for a good time in my book!

I love that the romance didn’t overshadow the mystery, but the mystery also didn’t overshadow the romance. They truly worked hand in hand to create a really gripping story!

I loved that Capri was a middle aged woman who was just trying to find her joy in life and what she wanted to do. I didn’t read book 1 in this series and that didn’t change my overall enjoyment of the story but they did reference but i would assume would be plot from book 1! I am eager to go back and read it now.

The narration was well done. It kept me engaged and enthralled in the story from page 1! I would definitely recommend the audiobook or an immersive reading experience.

I loved the first book so I was beyond excited to see the second one and it did not disappoint. It has cozy mystery vibes because it isn’t gory or frightening however the main character is smart, independent, and strong. Unlike some other cozy mysteries she doesn’t fall for simple traps. I definitely felt for her personal life as well. This book is well written and the mystery got me immediately hooked. Definitely recommend it!

Thanks to the publisher for providing me with an advance copy. All opinions are my own.

[Really liked it]

So good! I loved The Serial Killer Guide to San Francisco and this sequel was just as delightful. Such a FUN mystery story and keeps you entertained throughout. The narration of the audiobook was also excellent. I recommend adding this to your TBR! Out September 23rd.

A Tour To Die For is an excellent 2nd book in a cute & unique, cozy mystery series. I really enjoy all snippets of San Francisco crimes via the podcast format, it makes for excellent details in the audio experience.
This mystery also had some different aspects, like potentially an ancient treasure hunt. I enjoyed revisiting Capri, her sexy detective, her podcast sidekicks, and her relationship with her adulting daughter.
There were a lot of red herrings and I truly wasn’t sure where this mystery would go, so the ending was definitely surprising and I was on my toes.
I’ll continue this series.
One star removed because there was a strange amount of “gun talk,” and even if Capri’s need to protect herself was explained well, I personally felt uncomfortable with it.
The audio narration is really well done.

This book was so good that I listened to it in one sitting. I could not put it down! I do not read a lot of mystery novels but this one may have converted me! I have not read the first book in the series but felt this one was easy to follow anyway. The narrator did amazing at giving each character their own voice and personality!

Review: I just adore these books. They make me laugh and I love the little information drops about real San Francisco history. These are a great listen, I highly recommend the audiobooks.

Synopsis: In Michelle Chouinard’s A Tour to Die For, Capri Sanzio is back, giving a true crime tour her guests won’t soon forget. After all, a tour guide who specializes in serial killers knows better than most that San Francisco is a city with killer charm.

Capri Sanzio knows that when you give serial killer walking tours for a living, unexpected situations are more common than San Francisco's famous fog. So, when one of her guests claims to see a woman being attacked during a tour, Capri remains unphased. The police search the apartment in question and find no evidence of anything amiss, so they chalk it up to a false report from a true crime fanatic looking to be a part of a case. And Capri thinks they might be right, since lately her tours have been attracting even more obsessives than usual--as it turns out, finding the actual serial killer who committed the "Overkill Bill" murders didn't stop the constant questions about her grandfather's supposed crimes, it only intensified them.

But Capri would never forgive herself if someone is in trouble and she walks away. Plus, something about the whole situation has every one of Capri's investigative journalist instincts going haywire--why would someone lie about seeing an attack? So Capri starts to dig, and when her questions lead to a body, she finds herself at the center of another murder investigation.

A light, enjoyable cozy mystery set in San Francisco. Capri, the FMC, is the unlikely sleuth. Parts of her character development seem unrealistic, while other are completely relatable. The budding romance was paced perfectly. The mystery unfolds with some clever twists, even if the pacing lags in the middle, but that didn't stop me from devouring it.

The narrator, Stephanie Németh-Parker, brings life to Capri. Easy to follow, with great inflection, at time humorous, and embarrassed. This audiobook is a lot of fun!

Thank you NetGalley and Macmillan Audio for an ALC of this book.

Book two in Michelle Chouinard’s series drops Capri Sanzio right back into chaos, and I loved every twisty, fog-filled moment of it. As always, Chouinard’s pacing is spot-on. I was hooked from page one and kept guessing until the end. She’s an excellent storyteller, blending unexpected turns with moments of rising suspense, while never neglecting the heart of her stories: the characters.

Capri continues to be a likeable and believable protagonist, and I’ve truly grown attached to her. Heather’s humor adds the perfect amount of levity to tense situations, and Petito as a love interest is a definite win, much better than Todd ever was. The supporting cast feels real, their dynamics adding depth to every scene.

The mystery itself is compelling, a supposed attack during one of Capri’s serial killer walking tours spirals into something far darker. Capri’s investigative instincts kick in, and the ride to uncover the truth is equal parts thrilling and satisfying.

I also listened to the audiobook, and the narrator brought the characters to life beautifully. Her range of voices made it so easy to follow the dialogue, and her delivery added to the tension and humor in just the right places.

A fun, suspenseful, and character-driven mystery, I can’t wait for Capri’s next adventure.

Received the audiobook as an ARC - thank you, Macmillion Audio!

A Tour to Die For has all the ingredients for a book I'd love: a murder mystery, true crime tours, San Francisco as a setting, a light and sweet romance. I didn't read the first book, but I never felt lost or confused; Chouinard does a great job at catching you up without fully repeating the first book. As a former tour guide who led a ton of walking tours in San Francisco, I really enjoyed the tidbits of San Francisco true crime history. Overall, I thought the story was interesting and the narration was very good (I forgot she was doing every voice). The mystery itself is a little drawn out, and it was hard to keep track of all the sub-plots with an audiobook. Overall, I enjoyed myself and would recommend the audiobook if you like cozy mysteries (with a tiny bit of romance) and want to plop yourself directly into the heart of San Francisco.

Some minor spoilers:

I loved the tie in to Gold Rush history with the main crime. Capri should've gotten a portion of that hidden treasure though! I liked how the main mystery kicked off while on a true crime tour, but I didn't like how the murderer was the person most people expected. I was so uninterested in the ex-husband plot point, but maybe it's because I didn't read the first book? It felt half-baked at best and we only learned what the connection was at the very end. I would've loved more mystery/thrill with the disgruntled client plot point, especially because of his connection to gold rush history!

A Tour to Die For by Michelle Chouinard is a sharp, witty, and suspenseful mystery that blends true crime fascination with page-turning intrigue. Capri Sanzio, a serial killer tour guide with a knack for stumbling into real-life danger, finds herself caught in another deadly puzzle when a guest claims to witness an attack mid-tour. What begins as a questionable sighting quickly spirals into a murder investigation, testing Capri’s instincts, resolve, and tolerance for the city’s most obsessive true crime fanatics. Chouinard masterfully balances humor, atmospheric San Francisco charm, and a compelling whodunit, making this installment both clever and compulsively readable. Perfect for fans of amateur sleuths, serial killer lore, and mysteries with a snappy, modern edge.

Book 2 is so much better than book 1! I listened to this on audio and had a great time! The killer in this one wasn't as easy to spot as it was in book 1 but the twists and turns in this one made it hard to put down!

A Tour to Die For by Michelle Chouinard
Narrator, Stephanie Németh-Parker
Book two in series
First, I think it would help to have read book one in the series. You do get some background info in this one but not the full picture.
To me this is at least cozy adjacent but some may be bothered by a little salty language, and some not very explicit sex. I like the relationship between a woman in her forties and a man in his fifties. I also liked the bits of local history included.
As to the murder investigation, I enjoyed the first book more but this was still good enough to keep my interest and I’m looking forward to reading the next book. There was a hint towards the end about the topic.
The narrator is very good and I have enjoyed her work before.
Note to the author: you have ruined oatmeal for me forever. Plus, Argentina does have an extradition treaty with the U.S. and pisco sours are the national drink of Chile and Peru.
