I love the way that this audiobook was narrated. It was so calming and the book itself is so good. I unfortunately had to DNF this one at 12% simply due to personal reasons and triggering content however, I think this is an excellent book and I’m excited to pick it up in the future when I am able to.

I really really enjoyed the narrators voice. It was really calming and the cover is gorgeous so I’m excited to at some point read this but for now I have have to put it down, but I heavily recommend this to romance lovers in general. If you’re wanting a good sapphic book, get this one. I’m just really really sensitive with content, and I also have to be aware of those boundaries personally and soft to DNF books when they start to cause triggers.

Thank you so much for this arc. I appreciate the opportunity to leave honest feedback voluntarily.

3.5/5

I think that this book was overall pretty good for what it was. If you’re in the mood for a fun, quick, sapphic romp with a dash of spice? I think this one would hit the spot.

The audio narrator was a little bit robotic sounding at times but that did improve as the book went on. It was a bit hard to tell the characters apart at times. But overall I thought that the narration was enjoyable.

The story itself was very sweet and enjoyable. I do feel like the book was trying to cover a lot of ground with not a lot of length. I think it would’ve been a little bit better to have about 100 more pages so that we could have some additional detail and depth to the scenes and the relationship between Cecelia and Ingrid.

This was my first book by a new to me Canadian queer romance author and I enjoyed the arranged marriage bi4bi, opposites attract Sapphic love story set in Toronto between two Jewish women. It was good on audio, had some spicy scenes and I enjoyed learning more about the Jewish Canadian experience. Many thanks to NetGalley and the author for an early audio copy in exchange for my honest review.

This audiobook was a great listen! The narrator did a good job of differentiating the characters with her voices. The story itself was well paced for how short it was and the characters were enjoyable and had growth. I’m also a sucker for an arranged marriage trope, I always love seeing the business arrangement slowly morph into something more. Overall the plot was cute and still steamy. I only wish the book was longer so I could see more of Ingrid and Cecilia’s life together!

The cover is hot! The plot is lukewarm at best. I'm pretty disappointed because the premise of the book sounded really cool, but the storyline felt more like a first draft than a completed story. There just wasn't any substance, and the 'scenes' were kind of awkward.

I received an audio copy to review, and it wasn't good. There was no feeling to the narration, the quality of the recording was poor (feedback/very breathy), and there were a couple of instances where you can tell they had to re-record because the volume was way different.

It did make for a decent palate cleanser between some long books though.

I was so excited when I saw I was approved to ARC read this book, and then also later approved for the ALC on NetGalley!

💖 It has tropes I haven’t read (or read much of) before: sapphic billionaire arranged marriage set in Toronto. I don’t (usually) read billionaire romances or arranged marriage romances, but make it sapphic, throw in found family and you have my attention!

📖 I started the book thinking: who are these people, why an arranged marriage, where are we going from here??? Rochelle Wolf writes brilliant characters - I enjoyed their collection of sapphic novellas, Lavender Love Stories - and again I was drawn to the FMCs, why they do what they do, and their character development. Both FMCs start at different places, and it was fun watching them grow closer as the story progressed. It was also fun seeing characters from their other stories make a cameo in Impossible Match! But also, while revisiting Lavender Love Songs I saw Ingrid very briefly in there 👀 love when there are these little connections!

🎧 The audiobook is also fab - August G. Roy narrates it, I love all the different voices she does for all the different characters. It really brings the story to life!

Impossible Match is a short novella that goes from 0 to 60 (arranged marriage to declaration of love).

Cecilia Friedman is a techy who is perpetually single, always more focused on her work than her love life, that is until her grandmother plays matchmaker, and doesn't just find her a date, but a wife. While Ingrid Gordon is known as Toronto's most eligible bachelorettes and the daughter of a prominent family, she's actually much more vulnerable than she'd like others to see.

Both women have their own reasons for joining in the arranged marriage, but neither expect love. However, as they spend more time together, they get to know the woman behind the walls they put up. Instant chemistry leads to Cecilia and Ingrid to both want more.

Seeing as the book is a novella there isn't a lot of time to develop the characters, so things do move quickly and turns into pretty quick insta-love. I wish we were able to see more of the characters actual lives and see them grow over time. There were moments that would have benefitted from more information, like why Cecilia's grandmother would agree to this arranged marriage for her, it's pretty glossed over.

I'm sad I didn't love this book as much as I was hoping. The narrator of the audiobook generally did a good job, but was somewhat inconsistent with her voices, particularly Ingrid's voice at times felt like a robot. You could also often hear her breath in the mike, like puff sounds, I think the production of the audiobook was why I didn't enjoy the story as much as I could have.

The author set out to write a sapphic romance that feels like a warm hug and I think they did a really great job! Low angst, low drama. I enjoyed that the cast also included other LGBTQ representation and the plot didn’t revolve around homophobic public or family.

Sugary sweet and a little bit smutty with butch x fem billionaires where the femme tops! I love to see a twist on typical sapphic representation. I love the novella style, especially with something as sweet as this.

I did however not enjoy the audiobook for this one. I found the voice for some characters to be really forced and robotic when described as ‘husky’ or ‘sexy’ and it put me off listening. If looking to pick this up I would choose to read physically.

Thank you to Netgally and the publisher for giving me the opportunity to listen to the audiobook of this romance before release!

A delightful short steamy sapphic romance!
This book was a very fun read, the characters were lovable, the plot was amusing, and the pacing did not feel rushed like other novellas can. A big part of why I liked the pacing of this book is because the story spends more time on their actual marriage versus the engagement and wedding. It was a really interesting perspective to see the two women truly only get to know each other once they were already married. Watching the wives fall for each other was very sweet and made me not want to put their story down. The main characters and ensemble felt very realistic and well thought out. The narration of the audio book is fantastic. The personalities and uniqueness of both main character’s voices made it easy to tell which character’s POV I was reading and kept me thoroughly entertained while reading.
Thank you to Aurora Inkwell Media for providing me with an ALC of the audio book through NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.

Short and sweet, this sapphic romance between societal elites is a delightful and spicy read! I definitely could’ve used more pining, but this works for the length!

I'm saying this with love: I can't stand this narrator.

The book itself is a hoot and a half, but the narrator's voice and pronunciation took me out (and not in a fun way). I'm definitely going to pick up more Rochelle Wolf books though. I loved this marriage of convenience/business arrangement romance between a celebrity party girl and a rising tech star. There's nothing better than the "oh shit I'm in love with my wife" trope!!! Super fun.

Cute, Queer, and Quick 🫶🏼

Impossible Match is a fun little sapphic novella about a billionaire heiress and a tech whiz tossed into an arranged marriage for family clout. The plot? Light. The vibes? Fluffy. Perfect if you're in the mood for low-stakes romance with a dash of spice.

August Roy has done an amazing job at narrating the
audiobook, she made it so enjoyable.

I loved that queerness is just there-no drama, no explanations, just part of life. The characters felt distinct, the narration worked (a little stiff at times, but nothing major), and honestly? Rochelle Wolf is now officially on my radar!

Thank you to Netgalley for this ALC.

I have never read anything by Rochelle Wolf before , and I found this story delicious!

I finished it in one sitting as it had me hooked. There was an instant connection between Cecilia and Ingrid.

It was a great story and had me hooked.

I didn't enjoy the narrator as much as other narrators

"A sapphic, arranged marriage, billionaire romance" really had me sold. Plus the cover is gorgeous! Unfortunately, I found this rather lackluster. There was no chemistry between Cecilia and Ingrid and no build up to them finally catching feelings for each other. Also, I listened to the audiobook and the narrator was so bland and clinical sounding, with no emotion.

I unfortunately have to say that this one just didn’t work for me. The writing itself, from a technical/objective standpoint, was well done. There were some entertaining moments. The plotline however, missed the mark. This would make a decent first draft for a novel that expected considerable rewrites.

Fake marriage/dating is one of my absolute favorites, but this one just didn’t make sense. I can suspend disbelief (it’s my favorite pastime) but nothing in this novel works, even with the most generous interpretation. The characters motivations don’t make sense and their actions are nonsensical. This wasn’t a case of a miscommunication trope; most of the story was only able to exist due to a complete absence of communication in any form.

Our protagonists got married because their families pressured them to do so; that part is fine, sure. It’s why I’m here, even if this was lacking on the details. Yet the way the protagonists didn’t discuss ANYTHING was a massive letdown (those are some of the most fun scenes, when they hash things out) and I couldn’t see ever happening even in the most unrealistic situation. They never discussed expectations, boundaries, or even if they thought their marriage was “real” or just for the sake of appearance. They didn’t discuss if they planned on interacting or being friends, didn’t talk about sex, didn’t discuss finances….. but they did move in together and then live on separate sides of a mansion. One of the characters was apparently quite the player pre-wedding, and yet the topic of “do we plan on having sex ever, and/or can we sleep with other people” never came up. What was the plan here folks?

One protagonist went into the marriage hoping for love, and the other feeling like this was mostly a business arrangement her parents wanted. This could have made for a great scene/conflict/contrast, but nothing came of it whatsoever. Disappointing.

So, when we got to scenes where they were longing/angst-ing for each other, but “couldn’t possibly”, I was just left there wondering why not? The protagonist thinks “I shouldn’t be lusting after my wife” and I’m like…. why not???? She’s thinking “I should be embarrassed by being in my wife’s arms” and I’m like.. WHY???? How was the author trying to sell a married couple as some form of forbidden romance, when it was never established that it was an issue? One of them explicitly got married hoping to find love and a fulfilling relationship, so why did they not only make zero effort to make it happen but instead actively avoided getting to know them?

Maybe this just didn’t connect with me for whatever reason. I feel like there were the bones of a potentially really good novel in here somewhere but for me the details got in the way.

Thank you to NetGalley for providing a free ARC. This honest review was left voluntarily (and I kind of feel bad that it’s a bad review).

It is not shocking at all to me that this novella by Rochelle was a 5 star!

In my opinion, novellas are hard because they don’t always feel like they get it right but Rochelle is great with them and they always hit the mark.

The characters made so much sense - I loved them all. I found myself making audible “Awh”s, I had little heart eyes over this story and I can’t wait for others to read it when it gets released to the world next month!

TRULY. I don’t think i’ve ever read a Novella and felt so content when it was over.
The ending ✅
The characters ✅
The plot / story line ✅
The spice ✅

It didn’t feel rushed. It felt comfortable and all of the characters, including side characters, were fleshed out really well and easy to love. The plot was cute and completely fleshed out as well.

I LOVED it! I had a good time, and to be honest would have eaten up a full size book about these two hawtttttt mamas.

The Vibes:
-Found Family
-Arranged Marriage
-“MY WIFE” 🥵

I LOVED the audiobook. The narrator did a phenomenal job at keeping you engaged and totally in the story from start to finish.

This short sapphic billionaire romance had a lot of potential, but ultimately left me wanting more, mainly because of its length. At just over 100 pages, the story felt rushed, and I didn’t get enough time to connect deeply with the characters or their backstories. I adored Cecilia and Ingrid’s chemistry and found their dynamic sweet and engaging, but I would’ve loved more development around their individual journeys, especially Cecilia’s fallout with her parents and Ingrid’s complicated family ties. The book does shine in its fast pace, fun tropes, and diverse queer representation, so if you’re looking for a quick, charming arranged marriage romance, this one hits the mark. I just wish it had been expanded to give the story the emotional weight it deserved.

This was a quick fun read!

Impossible Match is a sapphic romance about a billionaire heiress and up-and-coming tech entrepreneur who are thrown into an arranged marriage to boost the status of their respective families. I know this is a novella, but there wasn't really a plot/conflict per se. In that vein, I think that if you wanted a nice fluffy palette cleanser, this book is perfect. There was a little on-screen spice and it was done very well.

I liked that though there are queer characters, it is the norm and not the 'issue'. I would definitely have read a full-length novel between these two FMCs if there was a more in depth plot aside from their quick arrangement. For how short it is, the characters were unique and the narrator did a good job assigning voices to everyone. It was a little jilted/robotic at times but overall enjoyable.

Rochelle Wolf is a new-to-me author and after this taste of her writing, I will definitely pick up another book of hers!

Thank you to NetGalley, the author, and the publisher for the ALC. All opinions are my own.

Thank you to NetGalley for this ALC! This is a fast-paced novella about two women in an arranged marriage. Ingrid, one of the main characters, is a bit off-putting at first due to her brash exterior, but as her character develops, you are able to see a softer and more emotional side of her. The narrator did an excellent job with Ingrid's sultry voice. The relationship between Ingrid and Cecelia is quick and steamy and leaves you wanting more!
