Taut with tension from the very first page, this psychological thriller is packed with drama and suspense.
The dual narrative from Aimee and Hannah is expertly written, pulling you into a web of deceit and long-held desire for revenge.
When Aimee's weekend getaway with her fiancé Dale is crashed by Hannah and her 'partner,' the air crackles with unspoken animosity. As the plot unfolds, past events are slowly unveiled, justifying Hannah's desire for revenge while also exposing the shocking secrets each character holds.
The pacing is relentless, making it an utterly gripping, one-sitting read perfect for a day at the beach.
My thanks to Bookouture and Netgalley for an advanced copy. This is my honest opinion.

"Uninvited" by Emily Shiner is an intense, edge-of-your-seat thriller that had me hooked from the first page. The suspense is relentless, and just when I thought I had it figured out, another twist hit. What really surprised me was the unexpected humor woven throughout—it added a clever layer that made the tension even more enjoyable. A gripping, smart read I didn’t want to put down!

Hannah is holding a grudge, and is out for revenge!
Aimees boyfriend Dale had an affair with Hannah, but said it meant nothing. In an effort to get their relationship back on track, Dale takes Aimee to a Florida resort, hoping for a romantic break. However, who should turn up but Hannah, and her boyfriend Mitch.
The story is told mainly by Hannah and Aimee, and after a while, it shows that Hannah seeking revenge is not a new idea, she has been planning it for years, and Aimee has a few secrets of her own too.
The narrations and viewpoints of Aimee and Hannah go back in time, leading up to the explosive present day and ending with a great twist I wasn't expecting. No one appears to be as straightforward as they make themselves out to be, and I loved the twists and turns, couldn't wait to find out what would be revealed next. A roller coaster read.
Thank you for my advance copy.

I will never pass up the opportunity to read an Emily Shiner book; and you shouldn’t either. If you love Freida McFadden, John Marrs, or Daniel Hurst, I think you’ll enjoy Emily’s writing style as well!

Uninvited follows a couple having issues with infidelity as they head on a beach vacation… upon arriving then discover the mistress and her “boyfriend” are crashing their romantic weekend.

We get a few flashbacks but as the story unravels, the whiplash is SHOCKING. I was absolutely hooked, and couldn’t believe where the plot ended up going,

Highly recommend for a quick, crazy psychological thriller.

Aimee is on vacation with her fiancee, Dale. Dale is hoping to smooth things over with Aimee after cheating on her. But Aimee is ready for some revenge. When they show up to the hotel, the other woman, Hannah, happens to be there. But Hannah has her own agenda. She has been waiting years to enact her revenge on Aimee....but it's not only Aimee who is hiding a secret.

You can never go wrong with an Emily Shiner thriller and this one did not disappoint! So many twists and turns and shocking plot lines. Let's just say the tension is HIGH in this one. I also really loved the imagery with the beachy/glam resort in Miami. As always, Shiner did an excellent job with character development. She kept me guessing right until the end. I had a really hard time putting this one down and quickly devoured it. Must read for any thriller lover!

'"I know what you did." Five words. Who would think that five words could make your life fall apart?'

A twisty, page-turning psychological thriller. The book was fast-paced to the point of feeling breathless, with two characters on a collision course with each other and both being completely ruthless. It felt a bit unnerving at first that there was no likeable character to root for - but it definitely added to the tension, and unpredictability of the storyline.

Many thanks to Bookouture and NetGalley for the advance copy.

Another great story by Emily Shiner which shows how things can go horribly wrong when someone is looking for revenge. The story kept me guessing all the way through. I did not see the twist coming. Thank you to Netgalley and the publisher for the ARC!

Uninvited by Emily Shiner
Holy hell on a sunny day. This was wild. The way the story unfolded rocked my world. This story went from zero to 100 in the blink of an eye.

The way this plot exploded was brilliant. Emily is quickly becoming a favorite. She knows how to curate and deliver a twisted tale, with deeply complicated characters and a plot that keeps you guessing.

I loved how this story was told. The alternating perspectives and the use of past and present were wickedly clever. These characters were all so complicated, but they were also well-developed.

The character dynamic was solid. I did not anticipate the ways this story would twist and turn. I couldn’t read quickly enough, and every page held more details.

The escalation, plummet, and explosion were intense. The summer of thrillers is taking no prisoners. I can't wait to read the next Emily Shiner thriller!

I enjoyed this book. It was a quick read. I think I started and finished it in under 4 hours. The tension between Aimee and Hannah could be felt through the book. Watching these two women try to one up each other was suspenseful at times. I expected Aimee's reveal to be something horrible but it actually just made me really sad for her. Hannah on the other hand, well... other readers can make up their own minds on her. I think she's a little (lot) cray cray.
The ending rushed up on me a bit quickly. It left me feeling a little confused and unsatisfied, like I missed something while reading the book.
I do enjoy this author and will continue reading her books. Despite my confusion at the end, I would still recommend this book to others.

Uninvited by Emily Shiner is a deliciously twisted thrill ride that had me hooked from page one. When Aimee and her fiancé escape to Miami for a romantic getaway, the last person they expect to show up is his mistress. What unfolds is a tense, tangled web of secrets, revenge, and deception.

I loved how the story constantly kept me second-guessing everyone’s motives and identities. Just when I thought I had things figured out, another layer peeled back. Who’s telling the truth? Who’s playing who? And who’s actually going to make it back to Vermont in one piece?

Though the beginning leaned a bit repetitive, it didn’t dull the drama or suspense. Once the plot took off, it really took off. I read this one over two days as I couldn’t put it down.

An easy 10/10 for anyone craving a juicy, beach-worthy psychological thriller.

Uninvited by Emily Shiner is a fast-paced thriller that reels you in immediately and does not let go.

Aimee and her partner Dale decide to take a vacation to reaffirm their commitment to one another following Dale's infidelity. When Dale's mistress, Hannah, turns up with her new partner in tow, the stage is set for the revenge-driven action to unfold.

I enjoyed the tightly-paced, short chapters, as well as the alternating perspectives of two women who will not tolerate the perceived wrongs of the scenario, with each set on her own course for revenge.

Emily Shiner has done it again but be warned. You will not want to put this one down for even a second.

Many thanks to NetGalley and Bookouture for an ARC.

Oh my word—what did I just read?!
It’s been ages since I’ve wanted to spend my vacation time reading, but this one… THIS ONE!

From page one, I was completely captivated. No slow points, just nonstop momentum straight through to the final word. I’m definitely hoping for a sequel!

And just when I’d start wondering how in the world the characters got to this point, Emily would sweep me back with a perfectly timed peek into the past.

I highly recommend this book—but hold on to your chair, or you might just end up on the floor!

This book was pure chaos in the best possible way. I went into it expecting a typical vacation thriller, but Emily Shiner delivered something way more intense, twisty, and addictive. I stayed up way too late because every chapter ended with something that made me say, “Okay wait, just one more.”

The dual timeline added so much depth without being confusing, and the tension just kept building until I couldn’t put it down. Everyone had secrets, and every time I thought I figured something out, the story flipped on me again. That ending? Absolutely wild. The epilogue actually made me sit back and say, “No way.”

All of the characters were all messed up in a way that made it impossible to stop reading. It’s one of those books where everyone is hiding something and no one can be trusted and honestly, I loved every second of it.

If you want something fast-paced, dramatic, and packed with lies, secrets, and revenge, this one absolutely delivers.

Uninvited was another winner by Emily Shiner!

Aimee and her soon-to-be husband, Dale head to Florida to repair the damage to the relationship he caused. Or, thats what she wants him to think. Upon arriving, their friends from home arrive in the neighboring, conjoined room.

As secrets begin to unravel and the past lurches into the present, nothing is what it seems. You may think you've got it figured out. You don't because the last twist is so well done, it leaves your jaw on the floor!

I really enjoy Emily's books with short catchy chapters that keep you wanting to read more. The characters were great and you never would have guessed what was going to happen. Again another fantastic book. Thank you for letting me read this early x look forward to Emily's next book 📙

Uninvited by Emily Shiner is a tension filled psychological thriller that I found difficult to put down. An easy read, fast paced novel that deals with betrayal, obsession, and revenge under the scorching Florida sun. An holiday in the sun turns into a dogfight between two women, both hiding deep buried secrets.

Aimee and her fiancé Dale are looking for a fresh start following the fall out after Aimee discovered Dale’s affair. All hopes of a reconciliation are quickly ended when Dale’s mistress Hannah, unexpectedly arrives at the hotel with Dale’s friend Mitch. The atmosphere changes immediately and both women have their own game to play. Hannah knows Aimee’s deep buried secret and wants to take advantage of it.

The novel alternates between perspectives and drip feeds each characters past, while increasing the tension with every page. This is a fast paced thriller that deals with relationships and buried secrets, and the lengths people will go to maintain control.

I would like to thank both Netgalley and Bookouture for supplying this novel in exchange for an honest review.

A thrilling revenge driven plot that should definitely come with a warning message because once you start it you can't stop this unpredictable domestic thriller. It seamlessly goes from past to present with a engaging protagonist. This is the perfect book to take on holiday and I could picture myself reading it by the pool. It's a vacation like no other when Aimee's fiance's mistress turns up. With twists that you can not predict and not knowing who can be believed or trusted it's a book that definitely needs to be on a bestseller list.

I recently received an Advanced Reader Copy (ARC) of Uninvited, the latest thriller/suspense novel by Emily Shiner that is officially being released on 8/20/2025. I received this ARC in e-book format in exchange for an honest review.

Summary:
Aimee and Dale, recently engaged, take a trip to Miami to try and fix their broken relationship. Aimee caught Dale cheating on her, and unbeknownst to Dale, Aimee got a good look at the other woman and knows she’s one of his CrossFit buddies, named Hannah. Aimee is merely coming on this trip to give her friends time to move her stuff out of their shared apartment…she has no plans to fix anything. She wants Dale out of her life.

When they arrive in Miami, who should they run into? Why Hannah…and her boyfriend, Mitch, who is also one of Dale’s CrossFit buddies. Turns out, they’re staying at the same hotel, Hannah says…wouldn’t it be fun if they all hung out together for the weekend? What ensues is a story that will leave only three of the four people alive by the end.

My Thoughts:
This is my second book by Shiner, and this woman knows how to write twist after twist! This book flips between past and present, and is told in the first person from Aimee and Hannah’s POVs. Through their stories, we learn exactly why Hannah is harboring a grudge against Aimee, and it isn’t for the reason I thought.

Just like in the first book I read by Shiner, there wasn’t a character at all that I was rooting for…they ALL had something to hide and I had no idea how things would end. The twists and turns kept me guessing throughout, and the very last part had my jaw dropping with a big OMG! What???

This was a quick and easy read, and if you enjoy thriller/suspense novels, I think you’d enjoy this one. I give this 4 out of 5 stars. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ #bookreview
