Vance, of MSNBC and formerly The US Attorneys, comes out with a book billed as”part history lesson, part manifesto,’ that, despite her general brilliance, falls far short of the mark. First, Ms. Vance is at times linguistically and substantively repetitive. Second, there appears to be a misunderstanding of her audience; readers buy in part based upon name recognition, and those likely to recognize Vance likely already have the historical backdrop and media literacy contained here. All of which makes this a valiant effort, sincerely approached, that, in my view, does little to add something new or advance the conversation. Not recommended.
