Lisa Regan never fails to steal my heart when I visit Detective Josie Quinn! She's an ever evolving character who delivers strength and grit on the regular, but there's a softer side of her as well who loves hard and collects friendship and love every day of her life. I always enjoy my return visits and watching her prosper no matter the hardships life has thrown out at her from a very young age. I can't recommend this series enough!

This particular book nabbed my attention very quickly with a whodunnit cold case at the forefront while Josie was dealing with personal drama as well. The case is well developed with multiple key players who are keeping secrets and testing alliances. There are twists and turns along the way that will keep the reader intrigued as Josie pulls out all stops to get justice for the vics.

I highly recommend this book as well as the entire series to anyone who enjoys a strong female lead in law enforcement who solves case after case while building a happily ever after with friends, family and the love of her life.

A big thank you to Lisa Regan and Bookoture for the 23rd installment of the Josie Quinn saga. Like preceding books this was a well thought out and well written book. Lisa Regan continues to develop intricate thrillers with the human touch. Josie and her expanding “family” are woven into the story in such a way that you can’t miss a moment. I hope you enjoy them as much as I do.

Wow! My mind needs a break after reading this book. I dove into this book headfirst not fully knowing what to expect. What I did not expect was what I got. This author always provides an entertaining story, but this book was beyond mysterious. There are no serial killers or kidnappers, just a lot of old clues to sift through.

Seven years ago a couple vanished, and neither one has been seen or heard from since that night. Now a submerged car has been found in the river, and lo and behold the mystery of their disappearance has been solved. However, the mystery of how and why they got there is just getting started. Assumptions are initially made, and they are completely incorrect. This was like getting a puzzle with the pieces scattered all over the house and trying to put it together without having each piece. Lisa Regan pulled the wool over my eyes as I thought I knew what was going on, but I was sorely mistaken. This was a mind boggling mystery with twists that I never saw coming.

I really enjoyed the wild mystery, but I especially enjoyed seeing Josie's personal life coming together, although it has not been easy. Being named the guardian of a teenage girl was hard enough, but when she does not want to be there, it is made doubly worse. Josie has to work with this while also trying to save the world. She is probably my favorite fictional character in the different series that I read simply because of her background. Josie has lived a nightmare and come out on the other side. Now she helps alleviate at least some of the pain of others' nightmares while also caring for those she loves. All she lacks is a cape.

Thank you to Bookouture and NetGalley for this ARC. I am leaving this review voluntarily.

Another great book in this series. There is so much going on as Josie and the rest of her team investigate after a car is found seven years after the disappearance of a local couple with bodies inside. The 3 children left behind have tried to blend their lives and move on, with Cora's daughter marrying Tobias's son in spite of the jealousy of Tobias's other son. They have been supported by a business partner and close friend of Tobias. The couple look like the perfect couple to outsiders but as the investigation unravels, it becomes clear that there were a lot of issues behind closed doors. The impact it has on the 3 now grown up children is very well told as the story develops.
As a backdrop, we find out more about how Josie and Noah are coping following his kidnap in the previous book, and also how they are coping with Wren who they are now guardians to and it is a good insight in to those new guardian / parental roles as progress is made and lessons are learnt. I love the way Lisa Regan weaves investigations and personal lives together in these books.

What a fun read. Family secrets, suspense, twists and turns I didn’t see coming! When I received this ARC I had no knowledge of the prior 22 books and I cannot wait to read them and learn more about Josie.

I am a fan of Lisa Regan's Josie Quinn series, and book twenty- three is another winner! Josie and her team member Gretchen Palmer were summoned to an incident involving a car submerged in the Susquehanna River. Josie demonstrated great courage and skill as she put herself in danger to ascertain that there were no survivors in the vehicle. After retrieving and cleaning the car they learned that it was registered to a Tobias Lachlan, and that the tag had not been renewed for seven years. He and his fiance had simply disappeared after a dinner date where they were observed by witnesses having a wonderful time. Tobias Lachlan was co-owner of a junk removal company, appeared to be well liked , respected and was raising two boys: Jackson Wright, his stepson, 23 years old when Tobias disappeared and Zane Lachlan, 17 at the time. Tobias had a sad history with the women in his life. Jackson's mother, Rachel Wright apparently simply left her son, then 12, and Tobias for another man named Victor, and Zane's mother Gabrielle Lachlan died tragically and unexpectedly of cardiac arrest. Cora Stevens was raising her 16 year old daughter Riley alone on the salary she earned working in a diner; her ex-husband Dalton had been abusive and continued to stalk her after their divorce. Tobias and Cora seemed very much in love, and their disappearance generated a great deal of concern and publicity. An episode of Dateline aired to raise awareness, yet their case remained cold until the car rose as a result of the river receding, otherwise the case may never have surfaced.
While dealing with the perplexing case, Josie and her husband and fellow police officer, Noah Fraley were still reeling from his violent abduction and torture, the arrival and custody responsibilities of 14 year old Wren McCann and planning their 5 year vow renewal . Talk about stress! The Couple's Secret is full of twists and turns; the ending was a complete surprise. It is suspense filled, well crafted and a fast-paced read. I felt Lisa wrote the first chapter with the intention of introducing the reader to her family and colleagues and to provide a brief Josie Quinn synopsis to aid her readers understanding, however it was a bit overwhelming. While The Couple's Secret may be read as a standalone; to fully appreciate it I recommend reading the books in order. I appreciate how the author explains medical terms and police jargon by incorporating the information into her characters' dialog. I thoroughly enjoyed the book, and am already looking forward to book twenty-four. Thank you to NetGalley, Bookouture Publishing, and Lisa Regan for the opportunity to read an ARC of The Couple's Secret; my review reflects my candid opinion. 4.5 stars.

The Couple's Secret by Lisa Regan is a very highly recommended mystery/procedural. This is the 23rd novel in the Detective Josie Quinn series but it can be read as a stand-alone novel. In fact, after reading it you will want to read more in this series.

A call comes in alerting the Denton Police department that a car has been spotted in the river at a remote area. Detective Josie Quinn and her partner Gretchen go out to investigate and Josie determines the car has been there for several years. It is revealed that inside the car are the skeletal remains of Tobias Lachlan and his fiancée Cora Stevens, a couple who disappeared seven years earlier.

The medical examiner reveals that the couple were both murdered which means the car was pushed into the river and the missing persons case is now a murder investigation. Tobias and Cora’s children, Jackson, Zane and Riley, are now adults and Josie is determined to find who murdered their parents because someone always knows something.

The writing is excellent, the pace is lightning-fast, and the tension rises with each chapter as all the clues are all logically followed up on in this compelling murder mystery. There are some obvious suspects, but, as the investigation unfolds, secrets are uncovered and seem to multiply. There are several twists in the plot as new information is uncovered and changes the direction of inquiries.

In Josie's personal life, Noah, who also works for the police department, is still recovery from the aftermath of a previous case. The two are now custodial parents to Wren, a teenager who is still grieving from her parents deaths. All the backstory and history of the characters is covered enough that new readers can follow along and appreciate this latest addition to the series. I really enjoyed all the realistic interaction between characters which helps bring them all to life as fully realized individuals.

The Couple's Secret is a natural choice for anyone following the series, but new readers can jump into it this time and enjoy the excellent mystery/procedural. Thanks to Bookouture for providing me with an advance reader's copy via NetGalley. My review is voluntary and expresses my honest opinion.

The review will be published on Barnes & Noble and Amazon.

Josie and Noah, a married couple, are detectives in a small town. A car is found in a lake that brings up an unsolved case from 7 years ago. A couple had been murdered and the car went into a lake in a nearby town. While Josie is working on this, a young woman is killed. This is a simple story that is too detailed about Josie and Noah’s sex life that has nothing to do with the basic storyline There wasn’t enough plot to keep my attention.

Soooooo good! Top 3 JQ books for sure. I love the way Josie is so unsure yet so onboard with raising Wren. I liked that for once there was the focus of other characters traumas. The mystery of Cora and Tobias' murders kept me guessing. And don't even get me started on wanting to know so much more about the Cassidy and Turner situation!!

This is book 23 in the Detective Josie Quinn series. I have read each and every book….definitely one of my favorite series to read. If you are a fan of suspenseful thrillers, this is the series you should pick up. I recommend reading the series in order as there is so much backstory to the main characters that is very important to know.

The Couple’s Secret had so much going on! The mystery aspect was so complex. A vehicle is found after seven years…with two bodies in it. As Josie and Gretchen start investigating, they seem to hit dead ends with their questions and inquiries.
It seems like everyone has secrets they don’t want to reveal. And, what secrets they are!!!
Along with the investigation, Josie and Noah are navigating having Wren in their life.
The Couple’s Secret is a must-read for fans of a suspenseful, twisted, cold case mystery with a psychological twist that will have you reading until you finish the book!
Lisa Regan always delivers a twisty police procedural that keeps me guessing until the end of the book.
BUT……..
What the heck is going on with Turner???? I mean….I need insight into him! He drives me crazy and really isn’t much of an asset to the team. I am hoping for a answer as to why he is not being fired! I have my own ideas of why he is there….

Thank you NetGalley, Bookouture and the author for the opportunity to read this book for my honest review. All opinions expressed are my own.

Lisa Regan once again delivers a gripping installment in the Josie Quinn series. When a long-submerged car is discovered in a drought-stricken river, Josie and Gretchen are pulled into a cold case that unravels shocking secrets. The pacing is sharp, the mystery unpredictable, and I love how Regan always slips in small details (cough Detective Turner cough) that hint at what’s still to come.

What makes this book shine is the balance between suspense and heart—Noah’s struggles, Josie and Noah’s care for Wren, and their evolving relationship add real depth to the investigation. While new readers may want to start earlier in the series, longtime fans will be rewarded with another tense, emotional page-turner. Thank you to NetGalley and Bookouture for the ARC—The Couple’s Secret is everything I love about this series: thrilling, layered, and full of heart.

Thank you to NetGalley and Bookouture for my copy of The Couples Secret By Lisa Regan.

Another great read in the Josie Quinn Series.
I love these books and all the characters, even getting to know more about Turner (still not sure about him).
Noah is arranging a vow renewal but as usual Josie is tied up with a case. A car has been found in the river with two bodies, Tobias Lachlan and his fiancée Cora Stevens who disappeared seven years ago.
Add to all this there is a new addition to the household, Wren a teenage girl who has been orphaned.
This book is the best so far, but I think I have said this about every book in this series.
Love them all!!!!!

Another Lisa Regan hit! I seriously think I say this with each of the books I read from this series but it's the truth! So many good ones keep you looked wanting more and this one is equally the same feeling!

Josie Quinn is such a great strong character along with all her team. Josie is torn between things in her home life and also a new big case at work. With some twists and turns this author keeps you turning the pages quickly!

Thank you Netgalley for the chance to read this book in return for my honest review.

This had my emotions running from one end to the other. Threw me into the cold case with Josie and team. The Couple's Secret takes you down a winding path with surprises, twists and some shocks. Top that off with Josie and Noah trying to deal with their newest family member Wren while dancing around PTSD from Noah's abduction in last book. Loved the interaction between Gretchen and Josie and I just know there are going to be more jaws on the floor as we continue to learn about Turner. A page turner that already has me salivating for the next book. Detective Josie Quinn series is a winner all the way, right up there with my addiction to the In Death Series. Thank you so much for the advance copy. I freely share my honest thoughts and opinions. #TheCouplesSecret #DetectiveJosieQuinn #LisaRegan #Bookouture #NetGalley

Cold case heats up😟

4.5🌟 stars
A good, complex case with a car found submerged in the river near Denton linked to the cold case of a couple who disappeared seven years earlier on the other side of the state. A devastated family and well hidden secrets, with Josie and Gretchen to review the cold case and finally bring closure. I really liked all of the twists, only one of which I saw coming. For me, I would have preferred it shorter, with a bit less concentration on Josie Quinn's private life.

The Pennsylvania setting, the quality of the author's writing and the investigation plotlines bring me back to this series again and again.

Thanks to Bookouture and NetGalley for sharing a complimentary advance copy of the book; this is my voluntary and honest opinion.

Review shared on 8/22/25 on Waterstones, Goodreads and Bookbub, and with Barnes & Noble and BAM. To be shared on kobo and Google Play upon publication.

Tobias and his fiancée Cora tragically disappeared 7 years ago. Their bodies are found at the bottom of a murky river in a car. Detective Josie Quinn is called in to investigate the case. She discovers dark secrets the couple were hiding.
This is the 23rd installment in the series. It is an intense and gripping read with many twists and turns. I couldn’t hardly put it down.
Thanks NetGalley and Bookouture for this eARC that will be released September 1, 2025!

Absolutely loaded with suspense and mystery. This one keeps you guessing until the very end. Jaw dropping surprises throughout. I could not put this down. This is a consume in one session book. It’s so fast paced you won’t even realize time slipping by.
