I've now read every entry in this series, and most of them I've dipped in and out of the audiobooks depending on my schedule for the day. I always find the series to be fun and exciting, but I'm not going to lie, David Chandler's narration leaves a lot to be desired. He's not bad by any stretch, but his voice sounds a little goofy for these hard and fast characters. I've listened to a few of his William Kent Krueger narrations too, and those are worse because the poetic writing sounds silly with his voice. Overall, this is a solid read and I'll continue, but I really wish they had someone else do the narration. Someone more gruff.

Pulse pounding crime and wilderness thriller.

In this 7th book of the series (and the first I have read), Deputy U.S. Marshals Arliss Cutter and Lola Teariki and their cohort are heading into the frigid Alaskan tundra on a manhunt for a contract killer as well as a dangerous group of assassins. The two cases are not connected, but they intersect in one of the coldest parts of the final frontier.

One of the main “characters” in this book has to be the cold weather. Reading about temperatures going into double negatives below zero made me shiver. Everything was made more difficult because of this extreme cold as it affected not only all the people but also all of their equipment. I can’t even imagine the type of cold that the team was forced to endure in their quest to find the evil killers as well as their protected witness and his mother. All of the characters in this story were intriguing and I hate that this is the first of the stories I’ve read not knowing the backstory though the author definitely gives enough information to answer most questions. Since I want more detail, I plan to go back and pick up some of the previous titles while waiting for the next in a series that is bound to become one of my favorites.

I liked the action, the plot, and the suspense in this thriller. I was fully invested in the work done by this interagency group in this location. I have always been fascinated by Alaska and the type of people who live there.

I love how the book has a cast of characters at the very beginning. I really appreciated being able to refer to this before I started as well as after I had finished.

I was able to listen to the audio book while also following along in the e-book ARC, both provided by the publishers. The narrator, David Chandler, did a great job with his deep, smooth voice and ability to perform various accents necessary for distinguishing between the many characters. His work definitely enhanced my enjoyment of this book and created the perfect mood for a totally immersive experience.

Audio Book Review - David Chandler delivers a faultless performance in this tense and dramatic tale that had me hooked from the first moment! Really enjoyed the whole aspect and ambience of the story with the chill of the backdrop coming through

I really enjoyed this audio book. The setting was adventurous to learn about. The plots intertwined well with a peaks that kept me wanting to continue to listen. This was the first book I have read from this author and will seek out more for sure.

This was my first Marc Cameron book, and overall it wasn’t a bad story. The plot was detailed and leaned heavily into the technical aspects of the investigation, which fits well with Cameron’s professional background. Since this is the 7th in the Arliss Cutter series, I think I would have benefited from knowing the characters and their backstories better.

I listened to the ARC audiobook provided by NetGalley, and while I appreciated the opportunity, the narration fell a bit flat for me. It was too monotone and lacked the inflection needed to match the tension of the story. I might revisit this series in the future, but I would start earlier and likely read in print instead.

Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for the advance listening copy.

Narrator David Chandler (the Joe Pickett Series) brings U.S. Marshal Arliss Cutter to life. In this book, Cutter and Marshall Lola Teariki are in Alaska trying to track down former St. Louis police officer Royce Decker who is wanted for hiring someone to murder his pregnant wife. The hired killer, Butch Pritchard, is also in Alaska and terrified of Royce.

Their manhunt quickly becomes dangerous when Lola goes through booby-trapped ice and nearly dies in the cold waters of Cheney Lake.. Arliss is living with his brother's widow and her sons when his mother, who walked out of his life when he was a small child, shows up and wants his help. It turns out he has a younger sister his mother wants him to track down. She's also in Alaska.

So, there are complications aplenty and Arliss and Lola have to balance the murderers, several other cases that pop up in the course of their hunt, and Arliss's family situation. Not to mention the complication of his long-standing feelings for his sister-in-law, which his mother sees only too clearly.

This book backs in a lot of action and drama, both physical and family based. Fans of C.J. Box, Paul Doiron will enjoy this entry into the law officer-stalking- criminals-in-harsh-environments subgenre.

Deadline was an excellent book. Arliss Cutter, a Federal Marshall, and his partner, Lola Teariki, are tasked with bringing in a fugitive during an extreme cold snap in Alaska. They also need to locate a person in Witness Protection who is being hunted by a mob boss. As in all of the Arlis Cutter books, the author makes theI Alaska landscape and weather become another character. Dead Line takes place during a cold snap that is colder than usual with the temperature dipping below -70°. Arliss Cutter and his partner, Lola Teariki are tasked with apprehending a former police officer and killer. They also need to locate someone in the Witness Protection program who is being hunted by a mob boss. The description of the frigid temperature, dangers the extreme cold creates, and the aurora borealis make the book come to life. The last 80% of the book was especially exciting.

Arliss Cutter is one of my favorite series, and I love David Chandler's narration. I like to listen to this narrator to listen at 1.5 speed. He has a deep and resonant voice and handles different voices and characters well and I have never winced at one of his renderings of female characters. He lets the author's writing describe who is speaking.

Arliss Cutter is a character that feels like a blend between Timothy Olyphant's character Raylan Gibbons on Justified and Tommy Lee Jones's Sam Gerard in The Fugitive. Ironically all three being U.S. Marshall's, the similarity isn't hard to find however the devil is in the details. His character has the same swagger and propensity to not talk too much but when he does it's with authority and sarcasms edge.
I received an advanced audiobook of this story which is #7 within the series. I took the time to go back to book #1 and check out where it all began. I'm glad I did because I have a better understanding of our main character and feel that even though this book can be read or listened to as a stand alone, why would you when it's so stinkin' good to take it all in from the beginning. I will be going back and picking up the rest of the series because this is a character that I have enjoyed reading about and plan to continue to follow this series as it evolves (hint, hint... this book leaves us with the sneaky suspicion that there is more to come). So in this story, Alaska is the setting and it's a character just as big is our Marshall. The brutality of the cold plays a factor in the hunt for the bad guys and in some cases provides a source of smoking out (or rather snowing out) the enemy. There are some really REALLY bad fugitives that our main characters are hunting and so ultimately we are hanging on by our finger nails hoping for the good guy to prevail.

I love when I find a good suspense thriller that has a lead character that I want to discover more of their backstory and root for the present day story and we have an entire series already out and available to catch up with. The audiobook is narrated by David Chandler and he does an EXCELLENT job. He voices male and female and even threw in a respectable Aussie accent. I took off 1 star for a few scenes that seemed to drag out a bit and therefore lost my interest at times. Overall, 4.5 stars rounded down.

Dead Line is a fast-paced, action-packed thriller that grabs you from the first page and doesn’t let go. This is book #7 in the Arliss Cutter series, but it reads perfectly as a standalone. Marc Cameron masterfully weaves in just enough backstory to bring new readers up to speed without slowing the momentum of the plot.

I absolutely loved this book! The storyline is engaging and suspenseful, with strong characters and a steady pace that keeps you turning pages (or intently listening). I hadn’t read any of the previous books in the series, but now I definitely plan to. Cameron’s writing strikes a great balance between plot, character, and action, making this an easy recommendation for thriller fans.

There were no dislikes for me—this book hit all the right notes.

The audiobook narration by David Chandler was excellent. He’s one of my favorite narrators, with a relaxed, confident style and flawless cadence. His voice work made it easy to distinguish characters and brought the story to life in a vivid and immersive way.

I highly recommend this book!
If you're a fan of the Joe Pickett series by C.J Box, this book is right up your alley, and you may hear a familiar voice in the audiobook.

Thank you to NetGalley and RBmedia for providing an advanced copy of the audiobook in exchange for my honest opinion.

Dead Line, the 7th book in Marc Cameron’s Arliss Cutter series, is my third, following Breakneck (#5) and Bad River (#6). I enjoyed the previous two, especially liking Bad River, which I rated five stars.

In Dead Line, US Deputy Marshals Arliss Cutter and Lola Teariki are chasing a contract killer who is wanted for the murder of a pregnant woman as well as the guy who hired him, the victim’s husband. While these two are a significant part of the story, the investigation soon points Cutter and Teariki to killers even more terrifying.

With much of the series set in Alaska, you’d expect the weather to play a big role in the stories. While it always does, Cameron takes things up a notch in Dead Linem with both the heroes and the villains having to survive temperatures 30 below zero and colder. Much props to anyone who deals with it firsthand in real life.

Other people in Cutter’s life, including his mother and his brother’s widow are featured throughout and provide the needed threads that tie one book in the series to the others.

Going in, I worried that Dead Line might be a letdown as it was set to pick up after our two marshals spent much of that great 6th book trying to solve the murder of Cutter’s brother. While I still think that Bad River is the highpoint of the three I have now read, I will say that Dead Line is a fascinating story that increased my love for the series and left me excited about the next book(s) to come.

This audiobook, like the six which precede it, is narrated by David Chandler. Chandler, who is called upon to provide distinctive voices both male and female, as well as young and old, is excellent. I listened at a 1.25 speed.

Thanks to RBmedia and NetGalley for providing me the opportunity to listen to Dead Line. The above opinions are my own.

Didn't realize this was a part of a series but glad it can be read as a standalone. Didn't disappoint but also had me feeling all the psych feelings. 1st time reading a Marc Cameron book and now I will be looking into the others.

Thank you Netgalley for the opportunity to read this arc

From sunny Las Vegas to Alaska this tension filled action thriller is a fun rollercoaster of a book. Arliss Cutter and his partner Lola are on the hunt for a hitman that killed the pregnant wife of a Missouri police officer that hired him. There is also the story of Sam whois in witness protection for his testimony against a Russian mobster, who ended up dead. Now is daughter is running the family business and is seeking retribution against Sam. This may sound like a large complex story, but Cameron does it in a way that keeps the reader fully engaged and entertained.

Thank you RB media for ALC. The narrator, David Chandler, was phenomenal.

In the book Dead Line, author Marc Cameron writes about Deputy U.S. Marshals Arliss Cutter and Lola Teariki as they hunt for fugitive Butch Pritchard in the wilds of Alaska. But is everything as it seems? And when the marshals arrest Butch’s partner, its not Butch he’s afraid of. So who is really behind everything? This was a great book and great series. Reminded my of CJ Box and his Wyoming game warder Joe Pickett series. I would highly recommend this book. The audio-book narration was very good. I received a copy of this audio-book from the publisher via NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.

Set in icy cold AK you can feel the cold in your bones from the descriptions. Exciting episode in the US Marshalls series featuring Arliss Cutter. These books are set in Alaska where nature is always a big factor and never more so than in this story where the temperature bottoms out at minus seventy-two degrees, I won't be snowmobiling in that temperature. Officers often say the toughest outlaws to catch are former law enforcement officers – these people know all the investigative techniques and ways to avoid detection. That holds true for Deputy US Marshall Arliss Cutter and his team on their latest manhunt. Just a few months after solving his brother’s murder, Arliss is back on the job looking to teach his partner the tricks that have made him a success tracker while still keeping her safe. Make sure to take this ride and I might recommend reading this one in the extreme heat so the decisiptions cool you off. Thank you to NetGalley, the author and Kensington Publishing

Deadline was a good mystery story and if you like detective stories, I think you would enjoy this book. It is very fast paced and action packed. There weren’t enough twist for me but I still enjoyed the story. I think the author did a good job with setting up the atmosphere. The narrator also did a great job performing this book.

Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for this audio arc!

The story was very engaging and “edge of your seat”, but I wasn’t the biggest fan of the narrator so it lost a star for me because I kept getting drawn out of the story due to the narrator.

This book took us on a manhunt through Alaska and the environment that goes along with it.

I’ll be honest, this is the seventh in the series and I never read any other books by this author so I might have been missing some backstory, but was still able to follow the main plot.

Highly recommend if you’re looking for an entertaining and thrilling story!

Many thanks to NetGalley and RB Media for the free audiobook in exchange for my honest review. David Chandler is one of my favorite narrators and he did an exceptional job reading this story. He has a voice like butter!!!

I am new to this series and now will be going back to listen to the other installments. I am hoping David Chandler read these as well for the audiobooks! I did not have any issues following along with this story as its book #7. The author does a good job catching up the reader so that you have no issues reading it as a standalone.

This is a fast paced, well written story based upon strong characters. I loved the US Marshalls, Arliss and Lola, their relationship as well as the Alaskan setting. There are a lot of twists in this story and multiple themes that hold your interest. I was very engrossed in the story to the end! Highly recommend!!!

AUDIOBOOK REVIEW:
Story: 4 stars Narration: 5 stars Overall: 4 stars

Dead Line is the seventh book in the Arliss Cutter series based in Alaska. This book has very interesting scenery and characters. Cutter and Teariki travel through some dangerous terrain in their latest adventure. Get ready for the ride and some family secrets.
The solo narration by David Chandler was extraordinary. He portrayed Arliss, Lola and the wide variety of characters perfectly. I highly recommend listening.
Thanks to the author and NetGalley for this ALC.

This is a great addition to the series that I was hooked on from the start. Where this is book seven of this series it can be read as a standalone read.

This latest installment finds Arliss and Lola chasing a fugitive during deadly cold weather. Their pursuit finds them checking on the welfare of a witness in protection who is on the run from the mob only to encounter the assassins that were sent after the witness and his mother. In typical Arliss Cutter fashion things get interesting leaving the reader on the edge of their seats waiting to see what happens next.

I liked how there were two separate stories occurring at that same time in this book. It was done in a way where it was not hard to follow and just as exciting to read. I also liked the mystery behind Arliss's mother was getting revealed but with the twist at the end with Arliss and Min's personal life left me wanting more and now I will have to impatiently await the next installment.

Overall, this was a great read that I enjoyed from start to finish and would recommend this book and the rest of the series to others.

While Marshall Arliss Cutter is hunting down a suspect, him and Lola are asked to check in on a person in witness protection. The Polish mafia is also hunting down the witness. The weather is well below negative 30 degrees Fahrenheit. All the while Cutter’s mother is staying with Mim and she has many untold secrets. His mother isn’t the only one with life altering secrets in the house.

I started listening to the Arlis Cutter series because I enjoyed David Chandlers narration of the Joe Pickett series. This book didn’t involve very many of Grumpy’s rules, Mim’s kids, Lola doing crazy things or Arliss being overly aggressive or mad. The storyline was easy to follow and kept me engaged. The whole time I’m listening I kept wondering how someone’s face didn’t freeze off, then I found out I didn’t need to wonder. This is a good series if you like Joe Picket or Pike Logan characters. The Narrator is good, listened at 2.5 speed.
