What do you feel, when you feel? is an alternate title for this book, sometimes as adults we don't quite know what we are feeling or why, or emotions overall, but this little book along some truly beautifyl illustrations gives us little hints on what we are feeling on our bodies when certain emotions are happening, are your shoulders droopy? or your heart gives a little skip?

Its short, straight to the point, beautiful and a book that promotes a beautiful parent child moment when you both can sit down together and talk about feelings.
Strongly recommended for younglings and their parents, and some adults or maybe middle graders who are not quite sure how to name or identify their emotions, the authors made a wonderful job

Absolutely loved this! The illustrations were lovely, and so many emotions with examples to describe how you’re feeling. As a teacher I would definitely have this in my classroom library and would use as a read aloud, or even individually if someone is having a rough day and having a tough time talking about how they’re feeling. So many children aren’t taught to describe how, what, and why they’re feeling certain ways. As a parent this is something I can read to my son to help teach him about emotions and identifying what he feels when he’s going through them. I love the added glossary at the end, it’s perfect for so many libraries to teach children to discuss feelings! Definitely would recommend for both classes and families to share with their children.

I felt this book would be geared towards children who may have been identified at a young age as having a difficult time understanding their emotions. I could see this being a tool that professionals such as counselors or therapists could use to help emotionally complex children cope and identify their emotions. The illustrations were colorful yet connected to the story well.

Thank you to free spirit publishing for the free copy of this ebook via NetGalley!

I highly recommend this book to anyone with toddlers and children. I have a highly sensitive five year old and this book does a great job of describing how the sensations of feelings are expressed in our body. I especially appreciate the glossary in the back that defines emotions and various sensations. My five year old is constantly asking for definitions and this is so helpful! The illustrations are beautiful!

Beautiful art reminiscent of webtoons. This is a wonderful resource on explaining to your child how to read their body when it comes to emotions. My nephew loved the pictures.

Thanks so much to NetGalley for the free Kindle book. My review is voluntarily given, and my opinions are my own.

Having previously worked in early childhood for years and years, I have read so many books like this to the children. Learning to regulate emotions is such an important skill. This is one of the best books I have ever seen on this topic for this age group. If I was still working in early childhood, I would put this book on pre-order immediately and tell everyone about it. As it is, I am going to recommend it to the people that I still know who are currently working in early childhood.

This isn't just a great classroom book, though. It's a great book for parents to buy.

Definitely would recommend it!

Tummies Flip, Hearts Skip is an absolutely exquisite resource on feelings for families and little ones. This picture book stands to not only educate young children who were never given the language for certain emotions before, but deeply help out parents who may not have put thought or language to these things before either. The design of the text on the page is so beautiful, playing wonderfully with the gorgeous illustrations that go right alongside each feeling. The pictures are bright, fun, and colorful, to keep a child’s attention, so creatively displaying each emotion. Reading, and reviewing this book together with the questions that it will naturally prompt, is priming your child to be an emotionally, intelligent little one, young adult, and eventually adult. This is going to come as a high recommend from myself as a public librarian.

Tummies Flip, Hearts Skip - A Book About How Feelings Feel.

After reading about what colors represent which emotions in You Are a Burst of Color, here, in Tummies Flip, Hearts Skip, we go a bit further. As we go we learn about how emotions manifest and feel in the body, as long as in the mind. Emotions aren't just a thought nor a quick sensation that goes in your head, it's also manifesting throughout your body. Learning how emotions do transpire, express through your body and sensations can help you recognize them and better manage them as you grow up. So you can feel better.
I would have loved having a book like this as a child even as a teenager ! It's a great tool for everybody honestly.

"Do your eyes spill over with salty tears ? Do your arms want a great big hug ?"

This teaches about emotions awareness, body awareness, feelings awareness. It's a great tool for kids. To analyse how they feel when something is going on - good, bad, or neutral - spot the sensations, where, how, how much, when, what does it feel like ?

"Is your body filled with sunshine ? Does your smile come easy ?"

It was pretty complete with a good panel of emotions from the basics angry, worry, happy, sad, to other like peace, surprised, overwhelmed, embarassed, brave, safe. It's really cool that it covers a greater panel of emotions and sensations. You can also obviously learn vocabulary, pratice reading and identify your sensations linking them to your feelings and learn how to feel better.

The bright colors matched every emotion pictured in the end.
I loved reading it. Tummies Flip, Hearts Skip reads a bit like poetry in a rythmic way with rhymey verses. Through the bright expressive colors in beautiful illustrated pages. I enjoyed the illustration work as much as the text. What a great book ! Would love to have a copy in my shelves !

"The feelings in your body are sensations. Noticing them can help you understand your emotions and feel better when you need to."

This book was a great introduction to emotional intelligence. Some adults even need reminders about the physical manifestations of the way emotions make us feel. The illustrations were cute and appropriate for each emotion.

What a great introduction to emotional intelligence for kiddos! 'Tummies Flip, Hearts Skip' highlights just a few of the *big* emotions: (happy, sad, mad, shy, worried, etc.) as well as the common accompanying sensations felt in the body. The illustrations are vividly, beautifully done and perfectly create a visual for each emotion! The back pages also include an awesome glossary of terms to help children pinpoint and describe the emotions and sensations they're feeling.

I think this is a great foundation to help kids tune into their own minds and bodies. Thank you to NetGalley and the author for providing me with a free eARC in exchange for an honest review.

Tummies Flip, Hearts Skip is a beautifully illustrated and thoughtfully written picture book that helps children connect with their emotions by recognizing how feelings show up in their bodies. With imaginative, sensory-rich language and whimsical artwork, it brings emotions like happiness, guilt, anger, and embarrassment to life in ways that kids can easily understand. Back matter includes a helpful glossary, discussion questions, and activities, making this a practical tool for parents, teachers, and caregivers who want to help little ones develop emotional intelligence from an early age.

This book feels like a gift to the small humans in our lives. Years ago, I read Atlas of the Heart by Brené Brown and learned something that stopped me in my tracks; most people can only name three emotions. That made me realize how vital it is to teach our kids the vocabulary of feelings. Tummies Flip, Hearts Skip does exactly that. It gives children the words, the visuals, and the body awareness they need to understand what they’re experiencing. The illustrations are vibrant and expressive, and the main character, a brown girl beautifully centered in the story, adds meaningful representation for children of color and important visibility for all readers. This book gently reminds us that the world is full of all kinds of people and feelings, and the more we understand both, the kinder we can be to ourselves and others. I absolutely loved it.
