This was an interesting book. As I’m not Jewish, I do like to read books about other holidays. This one is particularly a Hanukkah story. It’s about a little girl and their family who recently moved. Eva and her dragon wish for friends for Hanukkah. By the end of the book they do. The story is lovely. It skips a bit on the Hanukkah traditions, but the idea of Hanukkah, of family, of peace, of light, is all there within the pages. To me this story seems lovely, but as I am not of that culture or religion, it is not my right to give final word on this story.

This is a beautiful book I plan to add to my collection on holidays and traditions. It’s a Hanukkah story but is really about belonging. It would make a great read aloud.in December to honor my Jewish students and inform others about their traditions.

A Dragon Called Spark is a charming, heartwarming tale that blends a sprinkle of magic with a gentle introduction to Jewish culture and Hanukkah traditions. It follows Eva and her little dragon, Spark, who share a sense of loneliness and together hope for a Hanukkah miracle. Bright, colorful illustrations help bring Spark and his friend vividly to life.
While the story is filled with warmth and whimsy, certain moments feel a bit hurried. Some scenes could benefit from more detail to deepen the characters and setting. Young readers will delight in the playful tone and themes of courage and kindness, but older children—or adults reading aloud—might wish for a touch more plot development.
In the end, A Dragon Called Spark is a sweet, light read—ideal for bedtime or a cozy afternoon—but it may not leave as lasting an impression as some other dragon adventures.

This book is more about little Eva and how she feels getting used to living in a new place than it is about celebrating Hanukkah. It's a sweet story with beautiful pictures and a heartwarming lesson about accepting new people, whether you're the new person or the person already living there.

Dragon Called Spark is a feel-good children's book that showcases how scary it is moving to a new community and trying to make new friends. With beautiful illustrations, this book highlights Hannukah traditions while the main character uses her dragon to help make her new friends. I believe this book would be perfect for a classroom or for your little ones at home!

For me this book was just okay, It didn't teach much about hanukkah except that there are 8 candles. I also still have no idea if the dragons were real or make believe.

A sweet story about a little girl named Eva and her pet dragon Spark. This Hanukkah, Eva and her family are in a new place surrounded by new people, none of whom Eva has gotten to know yet. But when a next door neighbor kindly comments on their hanukkiah in the window, she discovers that she can trust him with the secret of Spark. When she overcomes her shyness and trepidation, Eva *and* Spark gain a whole new set of friends; a true Hanukkah miracle!

This story is adorably illustrated and has such a hopeful message, along with a bit of general Hanukkah information on the end page. Thank you to NetGalley and the author for providing me with a free eARC in exchange for an honest review.

I love this sweet picture book so much! An adorable Chanukah story with a whimsical twist. There's not a huge selection of Chanukah picture books to choose from and I'm so excited to add this to the pile. Encouraging and charming, I hope this book finds its way to many a holiday bookshelf!

One star because I love the idea of a pet dragon.

Very sweet story that fuses Hanukkah and kids with their imagination and how they intertwined
