I wanted to love THE PRIMROSE MURDER SOCIETY more than I did. I guess its comparison to ONLY MURDERS IN THE BUILDING raised my expectations a bit too much.
For one, I didn’t love the main characters. I was extremely frustrated with Lila, who was a pushover and failed to properly discipline Bea when she talked back or acted out. Bea’s incorrigibility was out of control, and Lila let her get away with too much. But Zoe became a good friend, and even haughty Evelyn and ex-detective Jasper grew on me.
The pacing was a bit slow, and it took awhile for things to get moving. Once they did, the story was well-plotted, and I enjoyed the ending.
