ARC Review - House of Dragons
Stars: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
House of Dragons by KA Linde was an engaging YA fantasy that pulled me into Kerrigan’s journey of belonging, power, and destiny. I don’t know why I was expecting more romance in this one, but it definitely took a big back seat—solidly keeping it in the YA category. The pacing did slow at times, but the world-building and character arcs kept me invested.
Overall, it was a good read and I’d recommend it to fans of YA fantasy with strong magical systems, political intrigue, and just a touch of romance.
Thank you to @authorkalinde @read_bloom @sourcebookscasa and @netgalley for providing me with an ARC to review!
Releases 10/7/25!

This was a fun read and dragons! i wish there was more dragons but have every hope there will be more in book 2, which i will be reading.
i liked the world and magic- though I did feel there could have been more depth to the magic system and magical artifacts.
i also felt the side characters were really strong in the start but tapered towards the end. i felt the same about the relationship with Fordham, started with me giggling and kicking my feet, then getting connected to him but then it felt like it kind of fizzled? i’m not quite sure- almost like the end was rushed?
So to sum that up, it started strong but towards the last 1/3 of the book it felt rushed and not the same people on page as the start/middle.
Overall i don’t think it was enough to dissuade me from still giving this 4 and wanting to pick up book 2 in the future. I also have every intention to now read the original series because i had no idea this was a spin off and i’d love to read more in this world!

💬 QOTD: When it comes to fantasy, are you more drawn to political intrigue & court drama or creature magic like dragons & phoenixes?
