No Knight by Donna Alam is a fun, steamy, and emotional opposites-attract romance. The story begins with a mistaken identity when Ryan mistakes Matt for the escort she hired to be her date at her ex’s wedding. What starts as a hilarious mix-up turns into an unforgettable night of passion. Months later, Ryan discovers that Matt is no escort at all, he’s a billionaire investor who isn’t about to let her slip away again.
I loved the witty banter, the humor, and the sizzling chemistry between Matt and Ryan. Their connection felt natural and grew into something much deeper as they faced real challenges together. Matt completely stole the show for me, charming, loyal, and protective without being overbearing. Ryan’s growth throughout the book was inspiring, and I appreciated how the author tackled sensitive topics with care.
This is a rom com with heart, heat, and plenty of laughs. A perfect mix!
Very grateful to the publisher for my copy through NetGalley, opinions are my own

I love, love, loved this book! The plot locked me in from page one, and spit me out a new person on the last page. The characters became real to me and will live in my brain forever. The setting was tangible and perfect. The pacing was riveting, but not rushed. All coming together to be a book I can't wait to recommend to my friends.

No Knight by Donna Alam is Book 3 of My Kind of Hero. I haven't read the first two books but I still enjoyed this. Spicy from the first chapter, I loved how the story and romance developed, as well as the character development. Such a sweet and engrossing read.
I got a complimentary book from Amazon Publishing UK | Montlake via Netgalley. This is my honest review

This is a classic rom-com with the main characters, Ryan and Matt, who have a meet cute when she mistakes him for her hired date for her ex's wedding. What adds further to the confusion is that she also assumes that Matt is an escort who was willing to be her knight in shining armor. He never gets around to clearing up that misconception and the two have a great time at the wedding.

The sparks fly and the two end up spending the night together. The story then moves to London a few months later and the two reconnect. Matt and Ryan have to deal with some life-altering news and decide to live together.

How this temporary fix turns into love and a permanent solution is what makes this romance such a page-turner. The first half of the book had me in splits with the banter between Matt and his friends. The latter half of the book dealt with some sensitive topics in a mature manner. Lovely couple that will have everyone rooting for her HEA.

Highly recommend 👍🏻

I pretty much went into this book blind and couldn't get enough! I simply adored Matt and Ryan's story and how much of a journey they went through to get their HEA.

I loved the premise of their meet cute, where Ryan mistakes Matt as an 'escort' she hired, but instead of being embarrassed by it she intends to get her money's worth 😂

Matt can't bear to see Ryan crying over her cheating ex (who also happens to be her boss) and how she's also been practically forced to attend his wedding - with the bride that's currently not her. Matt is determined to bring justice for Ryan and ends up tagging along as her plus one. It's not until he meets her work colleagues where he realises Ryan is not only bulletproof but has to put up with misogynistic behaviour on a daily basis. She is also hyper independent and resilient and Matt can help but fall a little in love with her.

Ryan and Matt hit it off and spend a passion fueled night which sees Ryan disappearing before the sun is up. She's gone, leaving behind a wad of cash for Matt's 'services'.

Fast forward a few months, Ryan ends up across the pond in London, which also happens to be where Matt resides. As fate would have it, their paths cross. Matt hasn't been able to move on from that night with Ryan and vows that now he's found her, he's not letting go. Ryan who's been once bitten, twice shy has her walls right up and is determined to keep him at arms length. However, Matt is not one to give up, especially now that he's not only fighting for Ryan, but the baby they're pregnant with.

I absolutely adored Matt in this book, who wanted to win over Ryan from the moment she walked out on him. He stepped up when it mattered the most and continued to show Ryan that he was dependable and that he wasn't going anywhere. Ryan has deep trust issues- courtesy of her late mom and doesn't want to rely on Matt nor risk getting her heart broken. She knows that it's not something she could bounce back from, especially with a baby to consider. Matt being Matt fights for her, his love never wavering and I loved how he was so patient with her to catch up to him 💗

The only reason why I knocked off one star was the fact that i thought the latter half of the book was really rushed. I would have liked to have seen more scenes of Matt trying to break down Ryan's walls and then just getting to know each other. Ryan stood firm pretty much to the end and it felt like she only gave in for the sake of their baby 🥺

However, I do commend Donna covering many sensitive topics on misogyny, child abuse and abandonment in a delicate manner!

Thank you, Netgalley, for letting me read an ARC copy of No Knight by Donna Alam.

This was a hard book to read with the Irish/Spanish words and phrases from our hero, Matias. There was also a lot of childhood trauma that Ryan had to deal with on top of working in a boys ' club job.

We have two POVs from the hero, Matias, and our leading lady, Ryan.... it starts mostly in Matias's point of view as she mistakes him for being an escort that she hired to go to her ex's wedding, who happened to marry her boss's daughter—the Shithead. Matias explains he is not who she thinks he is, but soon he escorts her to the wedding anyhow, once she explains it all to him: the ex, the cheating, and the bullying from her co-workers.

They have a great night that leads to the best night....however....

Yeah, you have to read it...but what could possibly go wrong from there?

I felt the story was a little slow for me, but I understood that it was how it was meant to play out for both characters. Their journey was long and painful at the end, but it was theirs. That is the only reason why I gave it 3.5 stars

Great ending though, I loved their teasing.

No Knight is a very good story that follows Matt and Ryan. It was enjoyable and a fun read. It is the third book in the My Kind of Hero series but can be read as a standalone story.

Ryan has hired a date for her former boyfriend / boss's wedding. She works at a company who typically only has men in her department. She was aggravated daily and decided to say she had a boyfriend. When she meets Matt she thinks he is her date. He goes along with the ruse since he is attracted to Ryan and his friends persuasion to find a woman. They spend a night together and Ryan leaves. Matt enjoyed her company and wanted to see her again but he has no idea how to find her.
Months pass when Matt discovers that Ryan is now in London. She finds out Matt is not the poor guy she thought before but a wealthy man and the owner of her company. She is so surprised that she leaves the room and gets sick. After deciding to get a pregnancy test she finds out that she is indeed pregnant with Matt's baby.

I loved how sweet Matt was and how good he was to Ryan. They had great chemistry and worked well together. This was a great story.

Reasons you will enjoy this story:
* One night stand
* Billionaire
* Owner of company
* Accidental pregnancy

I had not read anything by this author and I really enjoyed the story, characters and humor! Dreading attending his ex’s wedding, Matias “Matt” Romero escaped after the wedding to a local bar. He was glad it was over, but before he could relax, he is accosted by a woman who believes he was there to meet her. Ryan Hoffman was going to be late for her ex’s wedding, a company command performance, when her “professional date” finally arrives. Matt tries to convince her that he is not her date, but sensing her stress at having to attend, goes along with her. The attraction between them is hot, so hot that they end up spending the night at the hotel. He still hadn’t told her who he is, but in the morning, she is gone. Will he ever be able to find her? Returning to his business and family in London, he is shocked when he recognizes Ryan. She has moved to London as her career as a successful hedge fund trader, in America, was deliberately torched by her ex. An emotional and often hilarious time (especially the dialog between them) will ensue as he tries to coax her into seeing him again. When her time and job in London is threatened, personal news will soon alter their relationship and her own insecurity due to a tragic childhood. Will their love story end, before it begins? I received an advance review copy at no cost and without obligation for an honest review. (paytonpuppy)

This book was decent but it wasn’t for me. I didn’t vibe with the characters as much as I thought I would.

In the beginning of the story we mostly encounter Matt’s perspective, which I really liked, but as the story continues, the balance shifts toward Ryan’s voice. That shift makes sense to me, because while Matt is very clear about what he wants – love, family, stability – Ryan is still trapped by her past.

I’d describe this as a slow-paced romance, sometimes slower than I would have wished, but I can see why the author chose this path. In that way we are part of her journey, from the childhood trauma, present-day anxiety and to the healing process. There are a lot of inner ruminations and even a cognitive-behavioral therapy technique that made the story surprisingly realistic.

I can see why some readers could consider Ryan a frustrating FMC and that her choices can feel a little bit confusing and unusual, but having worked in mental health myself, I understand where her reactions are coming from. Her fears and her tendency to push Matt away are not a form of weakness, but the survival strategies of someone who has carried too much pain for too long.

On the other hand, Matt is all in, hopelessly in love, patient, determined. His devotion is so clear throughout the story, even when Ryan keeps him at arm’s lenght because of her past. The contrast from his persistence to her fear is what made their story feel both complicated and deeply human.

This book has some serious, heavy and painful themes and a happy ending too. And I’m glad it happened, because Ryan truly deserved love, stability and someone like Matt by her side.

Thank you so much for the opportunity to read this ARC. This review reflects my honest thoughts.

No Knight by Donna Alam is a fun, one night stand with more book.

Ryan and Matt meet under miscommunicated circumstances. There is a lot of heat, and it ends in a one night stand, though both keep thinking about it. Matt returns to London and keeps that he keeps seeing Ryan. It is her and she's just found out something big.

Matt is a sweetheart for Ryan and keeps coming across as a white knight. Ryan is fiercely independent and has a lot of demons in her past. I sort of wanted to shake her a little in parts, but I felt for her as well. Matt and Ryan work well together. The addition of Matt's sister and his adorable niece is a splash of color to the book.

The book moves at a good pace until the end, where it really moves quickly. There is a scary twist at the end, but everything ends well. It is the 3rd in a series. You don't need to read the others to get into this book. It can be read as a standalone with hints at the couples in the other books. I look forward to reading the others.

Thank you to NetGalley, Montlake, and Donna Alam for the e-ARC. This review is my own opinion.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ (4/5)

No Knight by Donna Alam was such a fun read, and overall, I really enjoyed it. The first few chapters hooked me right away. I was pulled into the story and couldn’t wait to see how Matt and Ryan’s relationship would unfold.

Matt completely stole my heart. He was so sweet, persistent, and adorable in the way he kept trying to win Ryan over. I loved how dedicated he was to showing her his feelings and proving that he was worth the risk. Honestly, he’s the kind of book boyfriend you root for the whole way through.

The reason I didn’t give it 5 stars comes down to Ryan’s side of the story. Her reasons for holding back really frustrated me. I’m a big believer that communication is key, and it felt like so many of her struggles could have been resolved if she’d just let herself open up, even just as a friend, to see that she didn’t need to keep secrets or push Matt away. Because of that, I didn’t fully feel her walls breaking down or her falling for him. The glimpses we did get were mostly tied to jealousy, which wasn’t enough for me to really believe in her side of the romance.

I also thought the ending wrapped up too quickly. The buildup of Matt’s love was beautifully done, but I wanted to see more of Ryan’s growth and more balance between them.

Still, I really enjoyed the story. It had such a strong start, and Matt’s charm and persistence carried the book for me. While the middle and end didn’t pull me in quite as much as those opening chapters, I’d definitely recommend it to anyone who loves a sweet, determined hero who won’t give up on love.

This is a sparkling romance that combines humor, heart, and irresistible chemistry. From the very first page, readers are pulled into a scenario that feels both outrageous and utterly charming.

Matt arrives in New York for his ex’s wedding, only to be mistaken by Ryan as the escort she’s hired to attend her own ex’s nuptials. Rather than correct her, Matt goes along with the charade, leading to a night of banter, heat, and a connection neither of them expected. Their witty exchanges and instant chemistry make their first encounter an absolute delight.

When their paths cross again months later, the tension shifts. Ryan has to grapple with Matt’s initial deception, while Matt must prove he’s more than the man she thought she knew. His determination to win her back—alongside tender moments with his niece, lively interactions with his siblings, and cameos from newly married friends—adds warmth and depth to the story.

With snappy dialogue, spicy romance, and genuine heart, it is a captivating blend of humor and emotion, making it a standout read for fans of mistaken-identity and second-chance love stories.

This book ❤️ We start off with Ryan hiring a "companion" to be her fake boyfriend at her former boyfriend/boss's wedding. She works at a hedge fund with an extremely finance bro environment. She's facing borderline sexual harassment that caused her to make up the boyfriend.

At the location she is supposed to meet her companion she mistakes Matt for him. He agrees to go along with the scheme, since his friends keep pushing him to be more spontaneous, but never really has the chance to come clean. Their dialog throughout the wedding as they go along is absolutely hilarious.

"The beauty in spontaneity. It turns out, Fin might be right. Fucking Fin, I think less charitably. He can shove the rest of his advice where the sun doesn’t shine - shove it right up there along with his beaded bracelets, which, if I know him, he'd use as anal beads"

Ryan sneaks out after their night together without leaving any of her information. We fast forward time and she's moved over to London. After unexpectedly finding out he is the new owner of the company, she bolts and finds herself sick. She reluctantly agrees to meet up with him.

"You didn't make me sad…you made me pregnant"

Matt really pushes to try to keep Ryan in London rather than going back to the states. She's very adamant on keeping their relationship strictly platonic for the baby's sake, while he is trying his best to get her to fall in love with him and stay.

"I grin and close the door with a solid thunk before I say or do anything stupid. Like High Five! I put a baby in you"

By the time we reach the birth… that scene.. My heart dropped. And the letter afterwards? Ripped my heart out. Thankfully it all worked out, but I would have loved to see more of what happened in their lives afterwards.

Loved the plot, but I wish we could have seen more development of their relationship and more scenes with his family. Their personalities sounded very intriguing and I think it would have added more depth to why he is such a family man.

I’ve been following this author for quite some time and absolutely adore her books! I’ve always been a huge fan of the Great Scotts series (Keir will forever have my heart), but wow—Matt has officially stolen the spotlight for me! This story had everything: it made me laugh, it made me angry, and it pulled me right into the emotions of the characters. Such a beautiful, heartfelt read—I loved every second of it!

And always love a little appearance from Will Travers xxx

Might be my favorite of the series. Mistaken identity, literally squealed, she mistook him for a male escort at a bar, who keeps a retainer because he doesn’t look cheap and has a black card. Matt or Matias, is Irish/Spanish helping Ryan out as her date for her ex boyfriend now boss’ wedding. Matt having also attended his ex’s wedding earlier goes along reluctantly, but when the finance bros, Ryan’s co-workers, arrive at the table he brings all the “touch her and die” vibes. Loved meeting Matt’s siblings, now I need a book from each of his siblings, they sound fun. Ryan was a truly strong FMC who deals with entitled men and childhood trauma.

This is the third book in the My Kind of Hero series, and even though I haven't read the first two, it stood alone beautifully without taking anything away from the story.

The opening builds slowly, with lots of banter leading up to the one-night stand, but once the story shifts to their reunion months later and the the unexpected pregnancy, I found myself more invested. The gradual pace gave space to explore the FMC's struggles with trust, vulnerability, and her past, which made her growth feel earned.

What really carried this book for me was Matt. His loyalty, fierce protectiveness, and patient cinnamon-roll heart made him easy to love and the perfect balance to the FMC's guarded nature. I adored how steadfast and understanding he was, and I was grateful for his quiet strength throughout their journey.

I loved this wild romance!

Starting with a case of mistaken identity always leads to a lot of fun, and the author certainly makes the most of every humorous opportunity for Matt and Ryan. She's needing a date to her ex's wedding, immediately after he just attended the wedding of his ex. This wild night was just supposed to stay in NYC, but after he returns home to London, he's convinced he's seeing her in the crowd there. When he finally finds her, he finds so much more than he bargained for.

This was so much fun to read, with every interaction filled with humor, snark, and emotional connection that catches them both off guard. The camaraderie among Matt, Fin, and Oliver is absolutely hilarious. Matt comes across as a white knight, but he has a deliciously naughty side that is irresistible. Really, who wouldn't swoon at a man whose dirty talk is all in Spanish?

Everything about this story felt relatable and authentic, and I could not have loved it more. Highly recommended for anyone who loves contemporary rom-coms, and it's absolutely essential if you've read the first two book in the series.

I picked up No Knight because I was in the mood for a lighthearted romance, and the blurb promised exactly that. It delivered on its premise with witty writing, fun banter, and a romance that felt both entertaining and authentic.

First Impressions
The opening threw me for a moment—I expected the female lead’s perspective based on the blurb, but instead found myself reading a male character discussing a wedding. Once I realised what was happening, though, it clicked into place and hooked me quickly. From those early chapters, the tone was established as sharp, witty, and playful, with dialogue that often made me laugh out loud.

Plot & Pacing
The story moves at a brisk pace. Within just a few chapters, I felt like I knew the characters and their world. It’s not bogged down in lengthy setup, which makes it easy to settle in and enjoy the ride. My favorite moment early on was the first interaction between Ryan and Matt—complete with Matt’s hilarious internal dialogue. That scene set the tone beautifully and raised my expectations for the lighthearted, character-driven story that followed.
While this is largely a romance, there are enough small twists and developments to keep the plot engaging. By the end, it builds toward a satisfying crescendo that makes the journey feel worthwhile.

Characters
The characters are a definite highlight. The three main men and their banter are endlessly entertaining, grounding the humour and making the story feel like you’re hanging out with friends. Ryan and Matt’s relationship is the heart of the book, and I loved how it developed naturally across different stages. Both of them are imperfect people with histories that still weigh on their choices, which made them feel real and relatable rather than stock romance leads.
The dialogue felt very natural, especially paired with the internal thoughts that they both share with the reader. That extra layer adds humour and realism—since we rarely say everything we think, but the reader gets to enjoy it here.

Writing Style & Atmosphere
Donna Alam’s prose is light, quick, and very witty, making the book a joy to read. Because the story is set in our world, the setting doesn’t require elaborate worldbuilding, but Alam still provides enough detail to bring each scene to life—whether it’s a location, a situation, or a new character.

Emotional Response
This book was genuinely hard to put down. It felt almost like listening to a friend recount a funny, slightly chaotic story about how they fell in love. The humour carried me through, but the emotional beats landed as well, especially as the romance deepened and the story built toward its climax. I found myself invested in hoping everything would work out, and the final twists paid off nicely.

Critiques
The only real critique I have is that the opening could feel slightly confusing if you’re expecting the story to start from the female lead’s perspective, but hearing the story from both sides is fun. Once I adjusted, it wasn’t an issue, but it might catch some readers off guard. The ending, too, felt a little sudden, though not unsatisfying, it left me with closure, but I wouldn’t have minded a slightly longer wrap-up.

Content Considerations
The book does touch on childhood neglect and its lingering impact, but it’s handled thoughtfully and without overwhelming the otherwise light tone. There’s also a bit of steam, in line with what you’d expect from this style of romance.

Final Thoughts
No Knight is a fun, witty, and surprisingly heartfelt romance. It offers charming characters, laugh-out-loud dialogue, and a relationship that feels both playful and grounded in real struggles. I’d recommend it to fans of contemporary romance who enjoy a mix of humor, heat, and sincerity.

Nearly a 4-star read from the very start, and it held that all the way through.

I enjoyed this book so much that I’m already looking for Donna Alam’s earlier works—and I’d happily recommend No Knight to other romance readers looking for something light, entertaining, and engaging.

Thank you so much to Netgalley, the publisher and the author for the opportunity to read this as an arc.

Unfortunately I had to DNF around the 30% mark. The premise sounded fun and something right up my alley, but once I started reading I realized the writing style wasn't my jam. It made it difficult to get into the story, and the pacing was too slow to be able to grasp my attention.

I can't give a proper opinion on the characters, because I feel like I didn't read enough to get to know them properly, but I was mostly enjoying them.
