I enjoyed this book once I got over the start of the book, it took me a little to get into it but once I did I really enjoyed it, I love the characters and the storyline. I love the devotion and care Matt showed Ryan throughout the book and how he supported her through everything

"No Knight" by Donna Alam was my first book from this author, and I enjoyed her engaging writing style. The story is emotional, and full of sizzling chemistry, though I sometimes found the FMC’s low self-esteem frustrating.
Matt, the “last man standing” among his friends, has always wanted his own happily-ever-after but ends up being the guy before “the one” for his exes. Frustrated with his situation, he goes to a bar where he meets Ryan—through a hilarious misunderstanding—and steps in as her plus-one and protector to another wedding, this time of her ex-boyfriend/boss. Secrets, assumptions, and undeniable attraction make their journey both heartbreaking and irresistibly steamy.
While not my favorite, it left me curious enough to try more from Donna Alam’s other series.

3.5/5 ⭐️

Thank you NetGalley for this ARC!

From the start I loved our hero Matt. Probably because he’s Irish like myself. Ryan our FMC enters a bar looking for the escort she has hired to be her date for her ex’s wedding. Mistaking Matt to be her escort they attend the event together. There were some great moments from this I will admit.

A few months down the line they meet again and are thrown back into each other’s lives. Whilst I still enjoyed this book there were a few issues that came up towards the end that just didn’t really make sense in my opinion but it didn’t take away from my overall feelings towards this book.

I loved reading both perspectives. It was hilarious reading their inner thoughts. It was totally adorable reading Matt’s perspective, especially after he first found her, he was obviously in love with Ryan, but didn’t want to scare her off, he’s a real romantic. It does help that his sister left romance novels behind at his house after she moved out. At least most of them can be attributed to her.

Since Matt grew up in a loving and caring environment, the opposite of what Ryan grew up in. Her experience was that she had become just like her mother and that Matt was going to leave. She holds him at an arm’s length until she no longer can. They do spend quality time together, but it’s sparingly. Ryan’s instinct is to keep her distance, so he won’t leave the child because of her. Her mother did the opposite. Ryan is doing her best not to repeat the past. Eventually they learn more about each other and fall in love.

I really loved reading this book. Even though Matt says he’s no knight, in my eyes he’s a knight. The pacing was good; however my one small complaint would be that I would have wanted to read about the revenge that Matt inflicted on Stinky Pete. Granted that was the author’s choice and I understand it. Though I love a good revenge story, and payback is always fun to watch, though NOT to experience. Not endorsing revenge, but I can understand it having watched the Revenge tv show about four times. I still loved the book regardless. The characters were full and entertaining. I highly recommend getting this book and checking out the other books by the author.

There's one particular issue with the tropes that I don't like. And since the synopsis doesn't mention it, I don't know whether to comment on it or not. But there was a certain issue that burst my bubble very early on. And it's not anything against the author or her writing style (which I really liked), but it's something completely personal.

I liked the book. I think I'd like to read more from this author. The characters were interesting, the connection between them (even from the beginning), and I think she's an author whose romances I would really enjoy reading.

I can say this wasn't the best start in terms of the plot, but it was in terms of the writing and a door that opens.

Thank you so much, Montlake, for the ARC I read on Netgalley in exchange for an honest review.

Thank you to Netgalley for the ARC.
I'm so in love with this author's writing. It's uplifting and full of hilarious banter whilst touching on trauma from childhood.
Her characters are always such fun, well-rounded, and a joy to read.
There's something special about a Donna Alam book that takes you into the character's world.
if you love a swoony romance, knightly mmc, and a fiercely independent face, you've got it here.
I'm so excited to read the next book

When Ryan (FMC), mistakes Matt for the escort she hired for the evening, they have a passionate one night stand. This is the beginning of an accidental pregnancy troupe, which I typically enjoy. However, I had a hard time connecting with these characters and found myself skimming the book.

This story started hilarious. The way Matt and Ryan met was absolutely out of left field and I loved how it started something neither anticipated.

Ryan is such a fire cracker and I loved her independence. I also though loved that Matt swooped in for her in a way where he didn’t want to dim her light he just wanted to make her brighter. These two truly saw each other and made the other better.

The heat at the start is very angsty and though you have some “ooo La la” moments this book is more about the characters journey and how they heal and help each other. It was so great getting to see past characters and seeing everyone mix and their happiness!

I liked this book. I will say it took me a bit to get into it. I don’t know how to really describe it….maybe a bit too wordy? But like wordy in the sense of lots and lots of dialogue more than a description of what is going on.

Like when Matt and Ryan first meet - so much back and forth talking. Some banter but also just a lot of talking. It was kind of hard to get really going with the story.

But, once you get going, I will say the story is just delightful. I love Matt’s little niece, Clo and his interactions with her are fun and cute. I loved Matt and Ryan together. His love for her is evident and his endless patience with her was beautiful. Everything he did to try and show her how much he loved her was perfect. Matt is a true book gentleman and I loved his willingness to be “all in” from the minute he reconnected with Ryan. ♥️♥️

This was such a disappointing and irritating book that I don't know how I got through until 60% before skipping entire pages to finish it as soon as possible.
Too much diluted dialogue, not enough engaging scenes, and characters that felt like cardboard cutouts.

Thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for the ARC in exchange for an honest review.

I had really high hopes for this book based on the blurb and tropes. The mistaken identity sounded really cute and not something I read often.

I had to DNF the book at 30% because while the plot sounded cute, the execution was lacking for me. I was having trouble connecting to the characters and getting into the story. I was hoping the plot would be farther along by the 30% mark. I was even in the middle of the first spicy scene when I called it quits because I just could not get into it.

I honestly stopped reading at 30-40% of the way into the book. It’s the first book I have never finished.

The premise of the book is mistaken identity and accidental pregnancy trope. Ryan (FMC) mistakes Matt for the escort she has hired to be her fake boyfriend at her ex-boyfriend and colleague's wedding. I think there could have been so much more humor in this premise.
Matt (billionaire and CEO) is taken with Ryan, after their one night together after the wedding, Ryan disappeared .She runs into Matt during a work meeting months later and realizes that he is a powerful CEO. She feels betrayed that he let her think that he was a hired escort.
The rest of the novel consists of Matt groveling to get Ryan to forgive him and Ryan feeling like she is not ready to have a baby.
The premise of the book could was fun, but I thought the writing and dialogue between Ryan and Matt was bit much. The book also leaned a little to much into some stereotypes of people.

Thank you Netgallery for the ARC.

Now the main trope of this isn’t one I usually enjoy…however, I was hooked! I really enjoyed the story behind this one and how it played out! It was well paced and didn’t feel rushed at all which I find is often what happens with these tropes! Really enjoyable and definitely one to add to your TBR!

A fluffy, fast-paced contemporary romance that leans into the mistaken identity and accidental pregnancy trope. Ryan (FMC) mistakes Matt for the escort she has hired to be her fake boyfriend at her ex-boyfriend and colleague's wedding. Matt (billionaire and CEO) is charmed by Ryan, and he likes that he doesn't have to wonder if she is only attracted to him because of his money. However, after their one night together after the wedding, Matt can't find Ryan. A few months later, Ryan is now working in London. She runs into Matt during a work meeting and realizes that he is a powerful CEO. She feels betrayed that he let her think that he was a hired escort. The rest of the novel consists of Matt groveling to get Ryan to forgive him and Ryan feeling like she is not ready to have a baby.

The premise of the book was fun, but I thought the writing and dialogue between Ryan and Matt too over the top. This can be read as a standalone.

Spice rating: 3 out of 5 🔥

I loved book 1 & 2 of this series so when I seen netgalley had it available early I was so happy I started it instantly I loved matt in the others he was/ is such a cinnamon roll MMC, the fake Spanish accent killed me & him confronting her work colleagues wow I laughed so much. Ryan was a bad ass bitch she put up with so much shit
I can honestly say I was not expecting the pregnancy trope but I absolutely loved it. This was just as much of a slow burn as the other 2 but when it hits it hits good. The chemistry between these two is eletric they have the perfect balance of tension/humour and lust. Matt fell so hard for Ryan it was adorable what a little golden retriever he was. I wish they got together sooner so we could see more of them but I totally get why they didn't fit the plot and Ryan's past😭that ending was actually perfect

Millionaire romances are one of my soft spots, so when I saw this title available on the READ NOW section, I jumped right in.

The way they meet is hilarious, and I loved Matt from the beginning, although he should have told her about his profession much sooner.

He is so captivated by her that it pained me to see how much Ryan tries to escape him. She has so much baggage due to her upbringing that she creates obstacles for their relationship.

Ryan thinks she cannot retain her independence within a relationship, but Matt is no ordinary man. The slow burn after their first encounter had me chewing my nails.

But everything works itself out in the end and Ryan and Matt get their happily ever after as a family. The letter Matt writes for Maeve got my crying my eyes out, he is adorable.

100% recommended.
Happy reading! ❤️

Thank you to Donna Alam and NetGalley for the ARC of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
This is my first book by Donna Alam, and I was drawn in by the plot and characters. The FMC (Ryan) is inited to her ex's wedding, and hires an escort to show she's moved on. Enter our MMC (Matt) who is mistaken for said escort. Great banter and chemistry ensue followed by a one night stand until they meet up again about half way through the book. Spoiler alert ****surprise pregnancy***** which is really not my favorite trope. I struggled to get through the rest of the book as a result, and it really wasn't my favorite. Ultimately, despite a strong start, I didn't end up enjoying the book as much as I would have hoped, but I would definitely consider reading this author's other works.

This is a five-star story that deserves a knighthood. This is something special in the My Kind of Hero series, and that’s due to Ryan in my eyes, there was something extra about her, and maybe as Matt has that something special with the Irish accent, I loved how it didn’t drop through the story, I have read a couple recently where all of a sudden someone with a strong regional accent (one Scottish and one Irish) suddenly started talking cockney in one case and American in the other, it ruined both stories for me, so I loved that it stayed, even in his texts, my Irish friend texts me the F eck all the time. I screen shotted it and sent it to her!! She was happy the Irish are being represented properly. I loved how Ryan has clearly had therapy as she reveals her coping mechanisms that work so well, but it also shows that its not a miracle cure, and you don’t magically get over your issues, you work for years with them and hopefully eventually grow around them, it was only touched upon what she had faced, but this is a romance, not a trauma bonding story. Overall this is a delightful and fun read, you will love how Ryan assumes things and as the story unfolds you will get swept up, and being there with them along the way, especially with the amazing cameo.

Well, wasn't that an awesome read.

Where do I start...
The humour and emotional depth were my biggest highlights of this book. I resonated with Ryan on multiple levels. Her story felt real and relatable.

The writing was great. Not a single cringy moment, and that's rare these days. There were several occasions where I wasn't fully grasping the meaning of the dialogue between characters and somewhat felt stupid but that only happened on 2 or 3 occasions so I not sure what to make of it. Badly worded, Irish slang, who knows.. I loved the dual POV. Some say it's overused but I am a sucker for it. A significant part of the book (a third to be precise) is taken up by Ryan and Matt's initial meeting around the wedding and their night at the hotel. The pace was perfect, I wouldn't change any of it. But I feared how the rest of the book would read. I also felt like I needed more of Ryan in that moment as I felt like she went from reserved about his "escort" status to being all over his dick. Her disappearance after the hotel scene was predictable. I wondered how the author would reunite the characters after that moment and I knew it would be in a work-related situation, though it would have to be a very creative reunion if that happened in NY, so I guess Ryan relocating was sort of necessary.

The rest of the book remained nicely paced for my liking until we got to the end. Ryan's personal growth felt rushed and skimmed over. I personally like to be tortured a lot more when the inevitable temporary breakdown of the relationship comes, before that last big final reunion.

My favourite moment of the book was in the end when Ryan was using the 5-4-3-2-1 strategy to enjoy the moment of their wedding as opposed to getting herself calm in an overwhelming moment. I thought that was creative and added to the emotional depth of the moment.

The book reminded me of All Our Tomorrows by Catherine Bybee and The Stopover by T.L. Swan.

This was my first time reading Donna Alam, and I’m already planning to go back and read the other two books in this series.

Matt is in New York for his ex’s wedding when Ryan spots him at a bar and mistakenly assumes he’s the escort she hired to attend her own ex’s wedding. From the start, the chemistry between them is electric, with witty banter and playful back-and-forth. Even though Matt isn’t actually an escort, he decides to go along with Ryan to the wedding, and they end up spending one of the best nights of their lives together.

Months later, Ryan and Matt cross paths again, and Matt has his work cut out for him as he tries to earn back Ryan’s trust after letting her believe he was someone he wasn’t. He’s determined to do whatever it takes to keep her in his life. Add in Matt’s adorable niece, his wild siblings, and his newly married coworkers and friends, and you’ve got a fantastic story. It’s packed with sexy banter, a touch of spice, and two people who truly seem meant to be.

I read this in one sitting and can’t wait to see what Donna Alam delivers next.
