The Best of American Poetry is the most consistent annual release. Always a perfect addition to any poetry/library collection.

Well this is the controversial one (where the straight white male poet pretended to be a Chinese woman to get a poem published, and that poem ended up here) so for that reason, this is the issue to have.

I find that the Best American poetry series is typically as good as the guest editor. While I respect Sherman Alexie as an author, I found that he picked the same type of poem over and over again. Many of these were or felt like prose poems, and I felt like they leaned towards a minimalism that I don't particularly care for when it comes to poetry. Still, there were a few gems, although I found the collection largely underwhelming.
