A youthful drama that wants to be – and succeeds in being – so dratted fast it sometimes loses out by it. We start without a beginning, and at times we jump from scene to scene with no logical way of knowing the previous one was about to end. But there you go – at least it has action and drama for us to jump between. Chase is a kid being looked after by the Queen, as his parents were kidnapped and were working for her Majesty at the time. He's determined to nab the baddy of the piece to get clues to their whereabouts from him, but said baddy is just too quick and smart. This adventure sees a lot of people, good and bad alike, all after the final vial of sacred dragon breath – a breath that is alleged to be able to turn you into a dragon yourself. And what baddy would not want to have that?

This was, in the finish, a suitable kids comic. Lively, colourful, silly – the readers will find this is much the same as them. There're jokes for the young about how bad the baddy's plans are, and some meta talk that questions the need he has for a goodie rival in the first place, which is quite fun. I still think it could have been a lot friendlier about who is who and why and what everyone's motives are from the start (strong characters just land on these pages at surprisingly late stages), and the logic of it all is probably on a par with the narrative structure – and best left not worried about too much. But for the right audience this is a four star hit.

Perfect for what the young ones of today prefers to read - comic style narration! Little one was quickly drawn into this book of adventures. He loved the story and all of the illustration. He's read it twice, back to back, doing voice overs with each characters. Would recommend! Thank you to NetGalley, the author, and the publisher for the opportunity to read this book as an advanced copy. All opinions are my own.
