This truly is a story about “family”, it doesn’t need to be the one you were born into!
Sally Henshaw is manager at Manchester Salvage Depot, working alongside friend BettyAtkinson, one night while they are carrying out their fire-watching duties Betty hears a noise she thinks could be a cat, what else could it be ? It certainly causes some drama in the depot and at Star House where the girls lodge with Mrs Beaumont, who is definitely the star of the house.
There are some broody feelings on the go this time, interesting to see who gets their wishes.
All good things come to them who wait.

I just loved it, and most definitely recommend it.

It was easy to pick up the story from previous instalments. Great characters, my favourite was Samuel who may not have been able to fight for his country, but he definitely has a backbone. Least favourite was Mrs Lockwood, again.
I really enjoyed Deborah’s story. Look forward to more by this author.

This talented author has written a page turner. Historical fiction brought to life. Realistic characters…quickly moving story…I like this series…each book…this takes us to a time when life was less simple…we have the opportunity to read about brave women…life during that period. Do not miss these books. Thanks Netgalley.

This is a different genre than what I usually read. Betty and her friend Sally find an abandoned baby. Betty is heartbroken when the grandparents of the baby are found. These books are very emotional. It is set during World War 2. There are times when you will cry and times when you will rejoice. The ending left some unanswered questions.

Absolutely devastated to read that this was the last in the series. I feel there are so many unanswered questions and that the series could continue. I would have liked to have had some details of Andrew's time in Africa. How did Louise fair in her new role? Who else went to work at the Salvage yard? What did happen to the yard after the end of the war?

It is once again another great read with lots of twists and turns. I felt the picture on the front cover was misleading as it only showed one baby which kept me guessing whose it would be!

I will miss the characters and the great writing from Susanna.

Thank you to NetGalley, the publishers and author for allowing me to read and review an Arc copy of the title.
