3.5 stars!
Thank you to HarperAudio Adult and NetGalley for the ARC of this audiobook!

This book has everything you could want from a beach read- Nantucket, a bookstore, hot people, British accents! I didn't actually read it on a beach but kept thinking that it would be a pretty perfect setting. I loved Jade as the main character - she was so fun and quirky. But I could have maybe done without all of the reminders of how hot she was?

My 3.5 stars rating comes mostly because of the length of the book. I actually paused the audiobook to look up the page count because there were a couple of instances where I couldn't believe the story was still going. I think some of the plot points could have been taken out and the story would have been even more engaging.

This was breezy read! The pacing kept it light and easy to follow, though it dragged a bit and could’ve been trimmed down by a hundred pages or so. Overall, an easy pick when you’re in the mood for something very low stakes and sweet. The audiobook narration was fantastic! The narrator really brought the characters to life with all the accents and made it very entertaining.

Thank you NetGalley for this early audiobook, Booked for the Summer.
I liked the narrator and thought she did a wonderful job voicing the characters. It flowed very well. Something about an English accent just made it even more fun.
The story was a fast paced romance starting off with a miscommunication. How they resolve it is the book’s premise.
I liked the banter between the two main characters, as well as the hotel’s manager, Jeremy. When Jade and Liam are conversing it is just fun and made me smile. Did the author objectify way too often Jade’s body? Yes. At times it felt a tad over the top almost into creepy land. We get it Liam is attracted to Jade’s body parts. I guess a little equal gushing over her other attributes ( or at least the same level ) would have evened it out.
This is quick, breezy book set in Nantucket and fun to spend the day at the beach ( hopefully a cape cod one with gobs of billionaires!) with.

Thank you to NetGalley, the publisher and author for this audio ARC.

I was really excited after reading the synopsis, but unfortunately it fell a bit short for me. This was easy to read, tension and banter filled. It is a good summery palate cleanser. A book that’s perfect for when you don’t want to think too much about what is happening on page. For me, however, the pacing of this was all over the place. At times, it dragged and others it felt rushed.

Tropes:
- grumpy millionaire
- book lover
- boss x employee
- small town
- dual pov

Thank you so much for the opportunity to review this book. I enjoyed the small town, found family feel and the grumpy sunshine trope. Found this to be a light hearted easy read and would be a great vacation book. I did struggle listening to the narrator’s accent for Jade at first but it grew on me by the end. I give this a solid 3 stars and posted reviews on Goodreads and TikTok

A grumpy billionaire, a sunshiney bookshop manager, and a summer on a gorgeous island? Yes please.

From page one, I adored Jade. She’s book-obsessed, witty, and has just enough sass to go toe to toe with Liam, I’ll admit, at first I wasn’t sure about him, he’s all sharp edges, cool stares, and zero small talk, but the delicious banter totally won me over.

The seaside setting is pure escapism. I swear I could hear the waves and smell the salt in the air while flipping the pages. And the bookshop? I want to live there. Kathryn Freeman really nailed that “I want to move into this fictional world” feeling for me.

It’s definitely got some spice, so be warned. But the chemistry between Jade and Liam is so believable that I didn’t even mind how quickly sparks started flying.

My only tiny gripe? There’s a bit of the ol’ “miscommunication” trope that made me want to shake them both and say, “Just TALK already!” But honestly, by the end, I was fully invested, grinning like an idiot, and wishing I could spend another summer with them.

If you’re looking for a book to toss in your beach bag or just pretend you’re on vacation, this one’s a keeper. Light, funny, swoony, and with enough heart to make you care long after the last page.3.5 ⭐️

Booked for the Summer is a spicy grumpy sunshine romance. Jade, the female main character, is there for the summer to manage a bookshop. Liam, the male main character, is a moody billionaire who manages the resort. Liam is set to tear down the bookshop Jade is working at. Throughout the course of the story, Jade attempts to prove the value of the bookshop to Liam. Despite their differences, the two engage is a spicy relationship. After a third act break up and a grand gesture from Liam, the two ultimately find their happily ever after. This book is perfect for anyone looking for a spicy beach read. Thank you to the author and NetGalley for the advanced listener copy in exchange for my honest review.

Booked for the Summer was a fun, easy escape read that grew on me as I went along. I’ll admit, the female main character rubbed me the wrong way at first, but her quirky charm eventually won me over and I found myself rooting for her. The narrator captured that quirkiness perfectly, bringing her personality to life in a way that made her even more endearing. The narrators seamless transition between accents was also very impressive and allowed you to feel truly immersed in the story.

In true romance fashion, there’s a swoon-worthy rich guy—because let’s be honest, part of the fun of these books is stepping out of reality for a bit. The romance was sweet with just enough steam to keep things interesting without going over the top. Overall, I enjoyed it—though I’m admittedly not the pickiest when it comes to a good love story. Perfect for a lighthearted summer read.

Thank you to HarperAudio Adult and NetGalley for providing me with this ALC in exchange for my honest and unbiased review.

I listened to the audiobook version and I think the narration with accents made it even better. It was a cute romance story that takes place on Nantucket. The characters were very likable, especially Jade. I would give it s mid level spice rating.

I had to DNF this book at about 25%. It felt like I was reading nothing but sex scenes. There was no character development or relationship, just straight to sex.

Jade Taylor heads to Nantucket for a temporary escape and a dream gig: managing the Little Bay Book Shack for the summer. The “fresh start” gets complicated fast when she learns the store is caught in the shadow of Haven, the luxe local resort, and its billionaire owner, Liam Haven. Liam is very much a fixture on the island (and very much not a book person), but sparks fly from their first accidental meeting. It’s a small-town, grumpy-meets-sunshine romance with a bookish heart and high-summer vibes.

This was such a good book! I really enjoyed the characters and the storyline. The dual POV gave a balanced look at both Jade and Liam, and the summer romance setting felt warm and inviting. I loved the plot and was hooked right from the beginning. The witty banter between the two was fantastic, and the way humor was used to break the tension made the story even more engaging. As a book lover, the bookshop setting was right up my alley, and I appreciated the sprinkle of spice in some of the steamy scenes—it gave the romance an extra spark. This was my first book by Kathryn Freeman, and it has definitely intrigued me to explore more of her work.

The audiobook narration, performed by Mary Jane Wells, was excellent. I liked how the voices were distinct, making it easy to tell the characters apart. She skillfully switched between a British accent for Jade and an American accent for Liam, and it was done so seamlessly that I actually thought there were two narrators. The performance brought the story vividly to life and made for a thoroughly enjoyable listening experience.

Thank you to NetGalley and HarperAudio Adult for providing me with an advanced copy in exchange for my honest opinion.

A fun summer romance with a Nantucket backdrop, yes please. This one was delightful, I couldn’t get enough.

I LOVED this book. It was exactly what I was hoping for, and I'd listen again and again.

Booked for the Summer is a fun summer romance set in Nantucket. As someone who hasn't been to the US a ton, the setting descriptions are exactly how I'd imagine the area to be. I loved the character of Jade. She was fun, flirty and determined to do what she came to Nantucket to do: prove herself to her family. Liam starts off as the arrogant millionaire type, but without including spoilers, he becomes a very lovable and understandable character.

I think the narrator did an amazing job. Not only did she get the attitude and personality of Jade, but she did amazingly on the accents, both American and British. I honestly don't know which is her actual accent. I'd definitely look out for more audiobooks she's on.

I'd recommend this to anyone looking for a fun summer read/listen, especially if you're a book person!

In this story the female main character Jade Taylor travels from England to Nantucket Island to manage a small bookshop. This book shop is right next to a hotel owned by Liam Haven who is buying the shop to tear it down. When they meet, it was expected that they will get together, it was like watching a Hallmark movie as I read the book. Liam, moody and detached falls in love with Jade the bookish protagonist whom everyone loves. When Jade becomes emotionally attached to Liam she discovers that he will end her contract with the store so she sets in a journey to save the store. She meets more people that want to save the store and help her convince Liam to keep the bookshop. The more she tries the more Liam gets entangle in the carisma of Jade and finally he relents and let her stay on the store. However she is only going to be staying in Nantucket for 7 weeks in which he will have to change her mind and stay for ever. I loved the story, although predictable the characters are funny enough that it keeps you entertain. I Burt’s out laughing several times.

Title: Booked for the Summer

**Thank you NetGalley and HarperAudio Adult for the advance audiobook copy in exchange for an honest review.**

Jade Taylor, a quirky, book-loving Brit, trades her usual surroundings for a summer job at The Little Book Shack on Nantucket Island. But when ownership changes hands, and she accidentally sleeps with her new boss, Liam, things get more than a little complicated. What follows is a picturesque seaside romance with plenty of playful banter, unexpected tension, and a sprinkling of steam.

Booked for the Summer was exactly what I needed as a palate cleanser between heavier reads—short, sweet, and fun, with an easy-to-love setting. The Nantucket backdrop was charming, and the supporting cast gave the story a warm, well-rounded feel. Jade's fiery, no-nonsense personality bounced nicely against Liam's more reserved nature, and together why made for some entertaining exchanges.

The said, the constant push-and-pull between them about their feelings, and whether Jade would still have a job, did get repetitive. The story also started with bang (pun fully intended), which left me feeling slight unmoored before I+d had time to settle into who these characters were. As a result, the early chemistry felt a bit too surface-level, and Liam's character occasionally came off flat.

The audiobook narration by Jane Wells was a solid enough match for the lighthearted tone of the story. She differentiated voices well, though Jade's voice veered a little too close to Keeley Jones from Ted Lasso for my taste—more distracting than charming after a while.

Overall, this is a breezy summer romance that delivers on lighthearted escapism. It's not perfect, but it's fun, flirty and a good choice for readers after a little sunshine, sand, and sizzle in their stories.

Thank you NetGalley for the Audio copy of this book.

This was a cute summer read. Enemies to lovers in a cute cheesy way but one that was enjoyable. It was a pretty fast read and easy to follow. I think this is great for a quick beach read for anyone looking.

This book was okay, didn't love it, didn't hate it.
Based on the book's description, I think I was expecting something that I didn't quite get in the plot.
One of my issues was the insta-love vibes. That is just my taste, though. I am not big into the insta-love plot.
Liam - our MMC, traumatic past, currently celibate, billionaire resort owner.
Jade - our FMC, loves books and goes to Nantucket to spend the summer managing a bookstore next to the resort that Liam owns.
I just couldn't get into the book, and I tried so hard because I wanted to love it. I love the set up, but it just didn't give me what I expected.
The plot was well organized, but the pace was rushed (again, the almost insta-love thing).
The characters were fairly developed, but I found it difficult to stay engaged with them.
If you are a reader who loves insta-love, this is a book you might really enjoy, so give it a try!
Thank you to NetGalley, the publisher, and the author for the opportunity read and review this ARC!
Happy Reading!

Booked for the Summer was such a fun, breezy read perfect for a sunny afternoon. I loved the witty banter, the charming coastal setting, and the chemistry between the characters. It’s warm, romantic, and has just enough drama to keep you turning the pages. While a few moments felt a little predictable, the overall story still left me smiling. Definitely a great pick if you’re in the mood for a feel-good summer romance!

First, the cover and title of this book grabbed my attention and I was so excited when I received the ALC of it. The book follows the FMC, Jade, as she moves to Nantucket to run a small bookstore for the summer. She immediately meets the MMC, Liam, as she mistakes his boat for her transportation to the island. They develop a pretty fast attraction which turned into 15% of non-stop sex talk/cringy scenes. This is where it lost me. I hated the talk between the two of them and it lasted way too long. I actually dnf'd it before their "night" was over. I was so tired of hearing the MMC describe what he wanted (and planned) on doing to Jade...Just do it and get it over with. I didn't need page after page of his lust-filled thoughts.
My other problem with this audiobook was unfortunately the female narrator. I don't like being critical about the narrators because I know they put a lot of work into the production, but I really despised the female's accent. It sounded like me trying to do a fake accent and that is not good. I think I may have liked this book better if I had read it physically....and skipped over the spicy talk nonsense. I like spice in my book, but it needs to be believable and not so dragged out.

Thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for this ALC of Booked for the Summer in exchange for an honest review.

Technically I would not rate this book as it's a DNF, but NetGalley will not allow me to publish this without giving it a star rating.
