History is mostly written by and about men. But what about the women? I was a bit disappointed that this is the story of Cleopatra as pertains to the men in her life: her father, Julius Caesar, her son. There were occasional glimpses of a solid political mind—I would have liked more of that. I did enjoy the interludes with Servillia (an other woman important to Caesar) and how she and Cleopatra find tenuous common ground.
