It's been a while since I read a book by this author. When reading this one, I remembered how much I enjoyed the writing style and stories she writes. I received the audio version of this story from NetGalley and am voluntarily leaving my review. This story was interesting from the first moment. Quinn is an intriguing character. I love her strength and determination to be true to herself. So many male characters get put into the alpha male role. I liked that Liam can take that role on but didn't try to dominate Quinn and diminish her own strengths. I thought their dynamic was great. While I did listen to the first book in the series just prior to listening to this one, the book stands alone. I look forward to the next. The narration was great for the story.

This audiobook was just OK for me. It was well written and had an ok plot, it just seemed like a YA book. The narrator was engaging. It wasn't a "bad" book, it just didn't have that "WOW!" factor.

I thoroughly enjoyed Dangerous Affair. The story itself is riveting—full of tension, intrigue, and just the right balance of suspense and romance. The characters are bold, interesting, and easy to root for, each bringing a unique energy that kept me invested from beginning to end.
I have not read the first book in this series, but the series is well written enough that I didn't feel like I missed any character development as book 1 is about a different character in the series.
The audiobook narration was especially well done. The narrator did a wonderful job of bringing the story to life, giving distinct voices and personalities to the characters and adding an extra layer of depth to the experience. His performance made the twists feel sharper and the emotional beats more impactful. I thought it might read oddly having a male narrator for a romantic suspense, but it all sounded great.
Overall, this was an exciting and engaging listen that I’d definitely recommend to anyone who enjoys romantic suspense brought to life by excellent narration.

Dangerous Affair by Sandra Owens is the second in the series. Quick paced, little spicy romantic suspense. Patrick Zeller did a great job on the narration. Very action packed and loved the characters. Thank you to #NetGalley and #Harlequin Audio for the arc. This is my honest review. Releases Aug 26, 2025

I tried. I listened to six hours, and then my eyes were rolling so frequently that I was afraid I might fall. The insta-love was just too much, as were so many of the little details. A woman is kidnapped, chained in a cellar, complains that she has nothing to do but sleep, and then once she's rescued, all she does is sleep (except for the moments she spends lusting after her rescuer). Then there were the minor but irritating grammatical errors: "He spoke to Quinn and I..." And everyone appeared to have limitless amounts of money despite spending their time in humanitarian pursuits. The premise wasn't bad, but the story could have used better editing for believability. And I didn't enjoy Patrick's Zeller narration, especially of the female's voice. I will not be sharing this review on social media.

Thank you to Netgalley and the publisher for sending me a copy of this book to review.
This was an edgy romantic suspense novel, and I enjoyed it a lot. I am looking forward to reading more by this author. I also really enjoyed this as an audiobook!

This was a fun spicy time with a decent amount of intrigue. I would recommend the audiobook. It's like an audio soap opera with murder.

Quinn Sullivan, a photojournalist stumbles onto something big when she over hears her soon to be ex-boyfriend Jasper conversation about getting millions for what is on his flashdrive. Now Liam O’Rourke, a former marine ranger and one of the Phoenix Three, has been contacted by Quinn's father to help locate her when she turns up missing. Liam tracks Quinn down as she is being held captive by her ex-boyfriend Jasper. Once they figure out what Jasper was after and why the Phoenix 3 must keep Quinn safe before she gets killed. Right from the start Quinn and Liam are attracted to each other and will do anything in order to keep her safe. While this is the second book in the series you can still read/listen to it without reading/listening to the first book in the series. I would like to thank both NetGalley and Harlequin Audio for letting me listen to an advanced copy of this audiobookl.

This is a Romantic Suspense, and this is the second book in the Phoenix Three series. This has action from the first page, and I could feel the connection the two main characters had. I loved the romance and the suspense in this book. Great Read. I read this book by listening to the audiobook, but I did not enjoy the narrator. I received an ARC of this book. This review is my own honest opinion about the book like all my reviews are.
