Santa and the Sled Dogs is such a delightful and heartwarming story, perfect for sharing in the run-up to Christmas. From the very first page, it has that cozy, magical feeling you want in a holiday picture book, and the children in my family were instantly hooked.
The story puts a fun twist on Santa’s adventures by introducing sled dogs into the mix. It’s playful and imaginative, but it also carries gentle messages about teamwork, friendship, and finding creative solutions when things don’t go as planned. My kids loved following along with the dogs’ personalities and antics, and we all found ourselves smiling at the end.

I read this one to my twins and they loved it. The illustrations were fun and everybody loves a good Christmas story. They love the fact that sled dogs replaced the reindeer and that it was all about believing in magic.

Loved this twist on a Christmas tale. “Santa and the Sled Dogd” is about a small town family whose sled dogs help Santa to deliver his gifts. Sarah van Rijsewijk weaves a simple but magical story that revolves around trust and believing that extraordinary things can really happen. The illustrations by Hetty Easter look hand drawn and add to the comfort that this family brings to Santa’s troubles. This book comes out in October and I will definitely be adding a copy to my classroom library.

Thank you so much to Globe Pequot/ North Country Books and Netgalley for the ebook to read and review.
That was absolutely stunning, an absolutely perfect and magic Christmas book. I felt so warm and had fluttering of Christmas magic throughout whilst reading this story. The writer really captured all that is special and magical about the season and added it all in.
Such a clever and unique story of Santa’s reindeer being unwell and unable to fly over Christmas, having to find sled dogs that can do the job instead. I loved how from the start the little girl was invested in everything that was happening, she was so excited but also worried how her dogs would fly. She helped make the final piece of magic happen and it was adorable.
It was honestly so sweet to read this, seeing the children all excited about what was happening and sneaking around so she could hear all the details of what it was they were doing with the dogs. She wanted nothing more than to help Santa out hear what he wanted from her family’s dogs.
The illustrations were some of the most beautiful I’ve seen, I love this style of hand drawn illustrations they just add so much extra to a story and especially a story like this one, that’s full of magic. I loved looking at each illustration on each page and was in awe of how beautiful it was.
This book is an absolute must first the holiday season, it’s stunning, heartwarming, full of magic, has a nice twist on Santa. I thoroughly enjoyed it and I know that young readers will too. They’ll be hoping Santa asks for their dogs to help next. It’s so incredibly magical and will get you cozy and in the spirit for the season.

This book was cute! I read to my 7 year old and he got a little bored so I think it’s maybe intended for a younger audience but I would def recommend for littler kids!
