Creepy! Spine tingling craziness! Wild roller-coaster ride! This is what you're getting with Carla Kovach's latest psychological spellbinder, My Husband's Wife.

Eve is recently married to Zach after being a widow for several years. She and her son are moving to a new home by the sea with Zach. She also finds a new job as a wedding planner at a fancy hotel. What she doesn't expect is to see her dead husband coming in to plan his wedding to a new woman. Not sure if she trusts the vision she has just encountered due to some past mental health issues, Eve sets out to get to the truth and with what she discovers she knows she must warn the new Mrs to be that her fiance is not who he's pretending to be. As lie after lie is exposed, is anyone safe and who has been telling the biggest lie and has the most reason to keep their secret covered up.

Fast-paced and addicting, this brilliant story is told through multiple perspectives. Full of lies and deception, the twists will have you zigging and zagging all the way to the explosive ending. This eerie cat and mouse game will leave you breathless and wanting more. This is a must-read for thrill lovers.

4.5 Stars – When your dead husband crashes back into your life... with a new wife and baby 😳

Well excuse me while I pick my jaw up off the floor.

From the very first page, My Husband’s Wife yanks you into Eva’s emotionally wrecked world—and doesn’t let go until you’re sweating through every twist. She’s a wedding planner with a calm surface and a storm brewing underneath. And when her newest client waltzes in with her fiancé—the same man Eva buried five years ago—things go from zero to what the actual hell in half a second.

Yes, you read that right. Her dead husband. Holding a baby. With a glowing new fiancée in tow. And acting like he doesn’t even recognize her.

Eva’s reaction? Understandably unhinged. But instead of full-on losing it, she plays it cool—on the outside. Internally, she's spiraling in the most deliciously messy, relatable way. You feel every gasp, every suspicion, every simmering “I will burn your life down if you try me” vibe. And honestly? I was cheering her on.

The story unfolds like a masterclass in psychological suspense: quiet paranoia, secret pasts, and lies so thick they practically drip off the page. Carla Kovach nails the tension here. Just when you think you’ve clocked what’s going on—bam! Curveball. Nothing is what it seems. Everyone has secrets. And Eva’s past? Let’s just say he isn’t the only one hiding things.

The writing is razor-sharp, the pacing snappy without rushing, and the atmosphere? Absolute chills. But what really makes this stand out is Eva herself. She’s not some doe-eyed victim. She’s layered, broken in places but not beyond repair, and navigating a minefield with grit, restraint, and a whole lot of quiet fury. We love a competent, complicated woman with vengeance simmering just beneath her lipstick.

And Theo? Don’t even get me started on Theo. Charming, slippery, manipulative—and somehow still believable. That man gave me emotional whiplash every time he stepped on the page.

Final thoughts? If you like your thrillers full of secrets, slow-burn revenge, second chances (or second betrayals?), and women rising from the ashes with a blowtorch in hand… this one’s for you. I devoured it in a day.

Thank you Bookouture, Netgalley and the author for the ARC. All opinions are my own

Oh wow, this novel had me tied up in knots. Told in the first part from Eva's perspective. We meet her as she moves to Devon with new husband Zach. A fresh start for her and her son following the death of her husband Hugo. But while arranging the wedding of Theo and Madison she's startled to discover that Hugo is still alive and has changed his name. But of course no-one believes her and she's at pains to prove she's not going crazy. The second part is Madisons story and her life living with Theo.
This was a fast paced novel, for fans of novels with twists and turns galore, this book will have you reading until the early hours

Another great read by Carla Kovach who as usual brings the reader through a minefield of suspense and several avenues before an ending that leaves the door open to continue the story or not and leaves it to the reader's imagation as to what could possibly happen.. My only advice is not to start reading this unless you have lots of time as you won't want to leave it aside, I was only able to read before going to work and couldn't wait to get finished so I could get back to it. A definite 5 star rating for this book

A great read from this author as usual and it was a great psychological domestic thriller with interesting characters which was full of twists and turns.

I enjoyed reading about Eva and Maddison overall and I did loose the thread slightly when it changed from one to the other, I felt it needed slightly more warning like Maddison's name at the beginning of the page when it had changed from Eva.

Thank you to Netgalley and Bookouture for this ARC which I can thoroughly recommend.

This thriller had me the first chapter. Told in several point of views between Eva she lost her husband by suicide. So she moved on with another man at their new home. Until a couple comes in where she works and wants to get married. She comes face to face with her husband’s doppelgänger or is he her husband. She needs to find out. Second pov is Madison the new fiancé that wants to marry Theo. I won’t go over everything because there are twists and turns along the way.

Five years ago, I buried my husband. Today I saw him with his new wife.

‘Thank you for agreeing to be our wedding planner. Theo is on his way,’ Madison says as we meet to plan her dream wedding. The moment her fiancé enters the room, a newborn baby in his arms, my whole world shifts and I grab hold of my desk to stop myself from falling.

Theo shakes my hand as he introduces himself, but I already know who he is. He’s my husband. The man I thought had died five years ago.

‘Lovely to meet you, Eva,’ he says, carefully avoiding my frozen stare. I’d recognise his smooth voice anywhere.
I want to scream, ask him why he’s doing this to me. But I know just how good a liar my husband is. And he knows my darkest secret. I can’t risk him destroying everything I’ve worked so hard for.

At the end of the meeting, I watch the happy little family walk away, and I don’t miss Theo’s eyes staring at me just a second too long. He knows I’m onto him. But only I know what I’m going to do next…

This was a brilliant read. It was told from multiple points of views which makes you understand the whole story, and that makes the whole thing a good layered story.
Is is a fast-paced story and you want to know how this eery story ends.

I read a lot of books from this author but this one is nothing like her series with Gina Harte. But overall, a solid story. I only gave it 3,5 stars because the two women did irritate me a bit because of their ignorance and the way they are a bit submissive...

Many thanks to Netgalley for this ARC. I had a fantastic time reading.

My Husbands Wife was a brilliant, thrilling read. I loved the multiple POVs as they really helped me develop an overall understanding of each others characters. I specifically loved Maddison, she felt very alive to me and I don’t think I’ll forget her character soon.

The book had some predictable yet satisfying twists but it also had a lot of far fetched moments, or things I felt didn’t seem like realistic decisions from the characters, especially Eva and Nicole. The ending was both satisfying and a little frustrating but what thriller doesn’t have you thinking after. Overall I’d give this book a 3.5. A very fun read and I can’t wait to check out more from this author.

A woven tale is woven between serval POV’s. Imagine having grieved your dead husband while you are raising your son. You find love again, but fate steps in and you run into a man who you feel is your husband. There are subtle differences, but you are convinced. Everyone thinks your going crazy. Adding to the story we know Eva has a history of mental illness, but she knows this is her husband. She has to prove everyone wrong.
The twists kept coming and this is a fast-paced, and fun ride.

Will share on Instagram when I am on tour with Bookouture.

I am going to rate this one a 7 out of 10. It had twists, turns, it had shocking moments. It also had a lot of predictable moments. I didn't care for 'Theo'. Eva was sneaky, she had her own secrets. The real question when reading this is did she bury her husband? Does he have a doppelganger? Could she possibly be mentally disturbed and play both roles? You won't know until you read the book!!! Also, don't forget your 'tea' when reading this. You never know who is watching. Eva, theo? The new wife?! Hmmmm

Carla Kovach is one of my go-to authors. When a new book of her is on Netgalley, I will be requesting.

My Husband’s Wife is set to be released on the 8th of September and is a standalone novel.

Eva is about to move to a whole new town, a new beginning with her son Caiden and her new husband Zach. It is hard to move away since she’ll leave her mother behind and the memories of her late husband Hugo, who’d died by suicide 5 years prior.

Eva is a wedding planner and she already has a new job in her town. Her son Caiden already has a school friend named Aaron, and Aaron’s mom Nicole is easy to get along with. Life seems good until a new couple come in for a booking. The soon to be married couple look lovely but the man looks like an exact replica of her late husband Hugo. Eva’s actually quite sure it is Hugo; it has to be.

Going through hell and high water to figure out what actually happened 5 years ago and how Theo is Hugo, there are a lot of things going on. With manic depression in her back pocket no one really believes Eva, not even her own mum.

Madison is Theo’s Fiancé and they have a baby together named Emily. Madison is head over heels in love with Theo but after her appointment with the wedding planner something seems off. Why did she call him Hugo? Why is Theo so secretive all of a sudden? Some phone calls he’s making end in death threats when he thinks she isn’t listening. Theo is actually a master manipulator letting Madison think she’s losing her mind and trying to keep her away from family and friends.

Will the wedding actually happen or will Madison have an eye-opening moment and call the whole thing off? And, is Theo actually Hugo? What’s going on there?

The first halve of the story is in Eva’s POV, then we switch to Madison’s POV; while the story makes more sense after reading her POV, some things you already know through Eva’s POV, which makes reading Madison’s POV a bit more boring.

The end was really good though, I kind of did see some things coming but not all of it.

It’s a ⭐⭐⭐⭐star read for me.

A fast paced read. A little far fetched but I was still engrossed from start to finish. Brilliantly written characters, even if several were unpleasant. Set mostly in a lovely part of the country. The build up to the end was a heart racer and the ending left me speechless and wanting more. My thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for my copy.

Let me just start by saying I’m a huge Carla Kovach fan. So much so I pick up her books without even reading what it is about - I just know she’s a fantastic author.

This book however was nothing like Carla’s usual style of writing. Gone is the thrilling, edge of your seat thriller, gone is the page turning climax at every chapter, gone is the solid yet twisty plot. Left in its place is a a Whitney, never ending group of women constantly doubting their husbands and partners but being too silly to do anything worthwhile about it and finding themselves in a bit of a catastrophe.

I really wanted to love this book. I read it to the end in small hope it might turn itself around but sadly no. This book was not for me and I wouldn’t recommend it as a book to showcase Carla’s talent.

Thanks to NetGalley for my advance copy in exchange for my honest review.

This was everything that I was hoping for in a psychological thriller novel, it was suspenseful and had that tension that makes you go what's going on. It had that element that I was looking for from the description and thought the concept was terrifying. I was really engaged from the first page and thought the idea of a deceased loved one coming back after five years with a new wife worked so well in the psychological element. Carla Kovach was able to create interesting characters and how their story was told in this.

This is another amazing ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ read from this fabulous author. This is a standalone novel rather than being part of the brilliant Gina Harte series that this author has written and was just as brilliant.

This was a fast paced rollercoaster of a read and had me gripped from the very beginning so much so that I read it in one sitting. If you love psychological thrillers then I am sure you will love this one. It had an engaging storyline which hooks you in and makes you keep wanting more. Hard to review without giving spoilers away so the only thing left to say is give this one a read and you won’t be disappointed.

I received an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily. Imagine you believe your husband has passed away and you’re now a widow with a son. You find love again and when you move to be with your new love, you come face to face with the husband you thought died. Only he’s not dead and he apparently is marrying someone else. But no one believes you. I felt so many emotions as I read this book. I was screaming for Eva to be believed and it was as if she was being gaslit constantly. There were multiple twists and turns in this book and it was so fast paced, I read it in one sitting. The backstory comes out as the book goes on which was so helpful to understand things but still added to the mystery of the plot. This book consumed me till the very end!

As she starts to loose her min she has no idea if she is seeing things or if the impossible is true her husband is still alive. Another brilliant Carla Kovach thriller that keeps you guessing from start to finish. Told from different POVs the reader just gets settled into one character's perspective when the narrative switches to another. This keeps the pace fast moving and the pages turning. There are plenty of twists and red herrings and a satisfying conclusion. Although the plot does stretch belief a little in parts, it is after all a story so perhaps excusable. A very satisfying thriller that I read in one sitting.
