I really enjoyed this as a Barbie history, it had that element that worked well overall in this type of book and enjoyed the overall research that was done and had that concept that I was looking for. I enjoyed the way Tarpley Hitt wrote this and had that element that I was wanting and enjoyed. It was perfect for the history of Barbie and glad I was able to read this.

I enjoyed reading this book and hope to interview the author! Hitt has an engaging writing style and uncovers a ton of interesting stuff about Mattel and Barbie. The part about the Barbie vs Bratz legal drama was especially fun. (Apparently the lawsuit exposed the fact that Mattel had/has a market intelligence aka corporate espionage department where employees adopted false identities to get intel on rival toymakers!!) I wish there were a little more about Mattel in the past 10-15 years but I imagine it's a lot harder to access info about more recent years.

This book was so enlightening, especially when it comes to the role Barbie has historically and currently playes.

It is not uncomoon to hate a bit of a hate - love relationship with the doll. My generation were heavy on the Barbies and her hundreds of accessories and clothing. She gave me some great time when I was younger and all my friends and I played together at 'Barbies'

However, as an adult female, I had a lot of questions and the book actually answered a few and left me with different ones.

Its obvious that the author has done some impressive research and I was thrilled to see that this book is not just a bunch of dry and boring notes and this book was researched in what I would call a non one sided way - so you get to make your own impressions of the role Barbie has played and does play,
