Super quick read featuring a completely unprofessional and unethical therapist and a surprising twist. The audio version was great with multiple voices and realistic sounding phone messages.
Thanks to NetGalley and Simon & Schuster Audio for early access.

This was a quick listen with lots of secrets and suspense. I do like this author, but this one was just ok for me.

👎 too short
Description:
Jenna, who runs a successful private therapy practice, still struggles with trust issues of her own. She’s made a promise to stop snooping in her husband Colten’s phone, but sometimes she can’t help herself. One night, she discovers a troubling exchange between him and his cousin Bodie, who’s one of his closest friends. A dancer from a bachelor party they both recently attended is threatening Bodie, claiming they crossed a line sexually and that she’ll expose the truth to his family if she doesn’t get what she wants.
Kaitlyn is a medical school student who dances on weekends to put herself through school. Jenna’s been her therapist for years, except she hasn’t seen her for three months. Not since Kaitlyn stopped showing up for treatment, without explanation. As Jenna begins to listen back to their past sessions, desperate for answers, a more complicated picture emerges, and she must decide who to trust as her career and her family hang in the balance.
My Opinion:
Lucinda pens an exciting thriller with intriguing characters. I loved that there were medical workers and also some psych reps, including OCD. The short chapters and multiple POV made for an easy/quick read. I was shocked by the twists in the novel. I appreciated that there was no cursing to pollute the storyline. I found the book to be over too quickly, wanting more. I was entertained by this novel and would recommend it to anyone who enjoys short, fast-paced thriller stories.

This book was an incredible, fast-paced listen—perfect for a road trip or a day of chores. It felt like watching a movie unfold, with everything falling into place effortlessly. The ending was both surprising and satisfying, with a twist that took the story in a direction I never saw coming.
We follow a therapist with deep-rooted trust issues from past traumas, who struggles to resist snooping on her husband. While snooping through messages, she discovers a link to one of her clients—a dancer for bachelor parties—and becomes determined to uncover the connection between this client and her own family.
The audiobook was outstanding, enhanced by multiple narrators and immersive sound effects.

A fun and quick listen. From the start I was interested and listened to over half the book Before I even realized how long it was. The production in the Audio was awesome. I look forward to reading more of her books! Thanks to NetGalley, the author, and the publisher for an arc in exhange for my honest review.

This audiobook was such a great short listen, easily devoured in one sitting. Not just because of the length, but because the book is one that will hook you and reel you in with its intense storyline and crazy plot twists. Once you get started you won’t want to put it down!
The narrators: Danielle Savre, Alicia Crowder, Dan Bitner, Matt Godfrey and Janina Edwards and the entire production team did an exceptional job bringing this gripping story to life.
Lucinda Berry is the master of true psychological thrillers that will leave your mind reeling. This book is no exception. This dark thriller will leave you wondering, how well do you know the people you love and who you can trust?
A huge thank you to Simon and Schuster Audio for the ALC of this book. It was such a fabulous listen!

I received the audiobook from the publisher on NetGalley. The narrators and production of the audiobook was amazing. Definite 5 stars for both. The story itself was a 3 star for me. I was eagerly waiting for a major twist, in typical Lucinda fashion, but it didn’t really happen. Overall it was an entertaining listen, but not one of the higher rated for me like her books have been in the past.

This Is A Safe Space is yet another Lucinda Berry book that I thoroughly enjoyed. It's fast paced and full of twists and turns, just what I like. I listened to the audiobook and the narrators made it all the more enjoyable.
Jenna, a therapist, looks at the texts between her husband and his cousin and finds a link between her husband and one of her clients. The client who ghosted her a few months ago, the client who is a stripper on weekends
Things get blurred between her professional and personal life as things start to unravel and she is left wondering who is telling the truth and what the truth really is.
Thank you to NetGalley and Simon & Schuster Audio for an early copy of this audiobook which releases October 21, 2025.

A fun short story that kept my interest. A twisted ending that I did figure out but still a fun read. Would recommend.

I'm shooketh. This audiobook was so amazing. I truly loved all of the narrators! I was SHOCKED by the twist at the end. While this is a short audiobook, it will keep you on the edge of your seat! Lucinda Berry truly is the twist queen!
I received this ARC audiobook from NetGalley and Simon & Schuster Audio Originals to listen/review. All of the statements above are my true opinions after fully listening to this audiobook.

The audio production is amazing!!! Just felt a little hard to connect with the story since it was shorter. It felt like the twist came so quick!

This is a great audio book! The performance really added to the story. I was hooked from the very beginning. I did not see that ending coming. I recommend this to anyone who enjoys thrillers.
Thank you to NetGalley for the advanced audio book!

I found this audiobook to be remarkable. The narrators' performance, complemented by sound effects, resulted in a delightful listening experience. The storyline was engaging, and Lucinda Berry's exceptional writing and storytelling abilities shine through.

Before I give my honest review, I just wanted to thank NetGalley, Simon & Schuster for allowing me to have an early copy of this audiobook. Lucinda Berry is one of my favorite authors, so I requested this immediately when I saw it available. This book follows Jenna, a therapist who starts to question everything when she realizes a connection between one of her clients & her husband, Colton.

If you’re looking for…
- “edge-of-your-seat” writing
- questionable characters
- a full cast audio book with sound effects
then check out This is A Safe Space when it publishes! This was an incredibly fast listen & it had me anxious until the last page. I did enjoy this one, however as someone who has read a LOT of thrillers (they got me back into reading as an adult), I saw the plot twist coming. If you’re looking to get into the thriller genre, I highly recommend this one!

This was a really fast audio by Lucinda Berry, 3 hrs and 12 min long. I loved the shorter chapters and I loved the narrator’s who were in it. Everytime I thought I knew where this was going, I was completely wrong. What a wild ending! Thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for this audio in exchange for my review. This book will be published October 2025.

I picked up this audiobook because I wanted something gripping but also thoughtful, and it delivered on both counts. The therapist’s role wasn’t just a job detail—it shaped the entire mood, especially through her work with a woman who survived abuse. That added a rawness that made the tension about her husband’s bachelor party feel more personal, more charged without ever being spelled out.
The plot kept me guessing, with details surfacing and fading, making me question what was real without feeling forced. The full cast narration gave life to every moment, capturing the subtle tensions and emotions that made the story feel vivid and immediate.
When it ended, the conclusion felt natural and honest, not relying on dramatic twists but on the messy, complicated realities of trust and doubt. The way her professional and personal worlds collided stayed with me long after.

audio books it’s a full experience I feel like I’m right there. This was a good listen the characters all had my attention with their separate issues. I liked that the main character was a therapist but was in therapy for her own issues. The ending true to Dr. Berry’s usual was a surprise. Overall I enjoyed this short listen and would recommend. Thank you to Net Galley for this advanced copy in exchange for a honest review.

Audiobook Review: This Is a Safe Place by Lucinda Berry
Narrated by Danielle Savre, Alicia Crowder, and a Full Cast
I received this audiobook from NetGalley and truly appreciate the opportunity to “read with my ears” and discover new-to-me authors—though Lucinda Berry has quickly become one of my favorites. Her books are always filled with twisted plots, shocking reveals, and moments that keep me glued to the story from start to finish.
This one was no exception. The use of a full cast and sound effects elevated the listening experience to a whole new level. It felt immersive—like I was right there in the middle of the story—and made the tense, unsettling moments even more impactful. Danielle Savre, Alicia Crowder, and the rest of the cast delivered fantastic performances that brought every scene and character to life.
I ended up listening to This Is a Safe Place in one sitting because I simply couldn’t stop. It’s engaging, disturbing in all the right ways, and exactly the kind of psychological suspense Lucinda Berry is known for. Highly recommend for fans of audiobooks that feel like a full-blown production.

Thanks to Netgalley, Lucinda Berry, and the publisher for the ALC and chance to give my honest opinion!
3.5 stars on this quick audio-only novella. Very easy, quick listen. It felt a lot like a podcast short story. Enjoyable but not a lot of depth or character building. To be expected for a novella, of course. Well written and enjoyable.

The narration and audio was fantastic. I really enjoyed listening to this. Especially the way it was formatted. It was a quick listen and overall I really liked it. The ending wasnt a big surprised and then reveal felt a little rushed but overall it was a solid storyline.
