What’s it About? Lark Sommers’ sexual dry spell has been going on so long that even her friends have noticed and they have hatched a plan to help her out. Navy SEAL Shane O’Brien has come home for a visit to his somewhat unconventional family and has no idea he’s being set up as part of a plan to help end Lark’s dry spell. Shane and Lark’s fling starts out as a no strings arrangement but of course, feelings get involved and things get complicated fast.
Overall reaction to the story? I’ve read this series on and off for a couple of years but I have to say that A SEAL’s Temptation is the most humorous of the series. Lark blurts out the funniest things, and Shane’s family is in denial about his job. These two were hot, heavy, and fun. Tawny Weber is such a talented author when it comes to her characters. They’re strong, brave, and completely likable.
Describe the hero in five words: Brave. Loyal. Fun. Caring. Intelligent.
Did you like him? Yes.
Why? Shane’s mother is in a sort of denial over her son’s job. She doesn’t want to acknowledge that he’s a SEAL and he indulges her out of love. He may get annoyed at her and his sisters but at the end of the day, he loves them. He was a special guy to deal with that kind of crazy. I loved that about him and his camaraderie with his team. He was equal parts alpha and sweetheart when it came to Lark with a side of mischievous boy thrown in. Who could resist that?
Describe the heroine in five words: Silly. Fun. Intelligent. Vulnerable. Brave.
Did you like her? Yes.
Why? Lark had this incredibly endearing yet hilarious habit of blurting out the most inappropriately blunt things at the wrong times and I loved that about her! She was loving, loyal to her friends, and kind to those around her. She took on a big task when she took over her late mother’s coffee shop in order to honor her even though her true passion was in pottery. Sometimes she came off as a bit nutty and definitely had a bit of survivor’s guilt going on but she was a survivor through and through. I really enjoyed her.
Let’s talk about the romance: Shane and Lark had such intense chemistry in some moments that was balanced out with the sheer silliness of Lark’s verbal diarrhea and Shane’s insane family. I loved that it while they were supposed to be having just a fling, they took the time to get to know each other’s crazy (i.e. family and friends) and of course each other. They were pretty great together since and I enjoyed them both.
Click It or Skip It? Click It. The entire series is worth reading but A SEAL’s Temptation is definitely one of my favorites.
