I liked it! The story itself was good and I enjoyed it but I couldn’t get into the second half of the audiobook for some reason, it might be a me problem. The last chapter got me on the edge of my seat!

This book was good. It kept me entertained and I wanted to see what was going to happen. There were parts that I thought were a little unrealistic, as in no one would truly follow through with what was being asked. Overall it was a decent read.

I spent the last few days listening to an audiobook by D.K Hood. The Liar I Married. Not only was the story amazing but the narrator ( Kate Hanford) was amazing! She definitely did this book justice. The right tone and pitch at the right exact time. It felt like I was experiencing it in real life. I usually don’t like when there is just one narrator, I prefer a full cast but she just did it right.
Sometimes you listen to a book and you can tell the narrator hadn’t put any effort in trying to get what the author wanted to convey but Kate hit it right on the spot.
This audiobook flows just right to keep you swept up in it. There were nights I couldn’t even just facebook scroll while listening but instead paying attention to its every detail as if I was watching a TV show.
The story itself was addicting. I kept guessing what the plot was going to be but each time I thought I knew- I was surprised!! This is a new author for me but I’m hooked of all the other books are like this one!
Thanks #NetGalley for giving me this opportunity!!!

This was such a gripping and addictive read. The suspense builds steadily, and the characters felt so real that I was completely caught up in their story. I loved how the twists kept me on edge without giving too much away too soon—it made the book impossible to put down. Clever, tense, and thoroughly enjoyable from start to finish

"The Liar I Married" by D.K. Hood is an edge-of-your-seat thriller filled with heart-pounding moments that had my anxiety creeping in throughout the story. Finally, after a long time, I found a book that I was constantly guessing, "What the hell is going on?"
The narrative features dual timelines, exploring Jessie’s life before and after her accident. This creates a perfectly balanced suspense and mystery. Each flashback adds new layers to the mystery, keeping me on my toes as I try to discern what is happening, who can be trusted, and who the real enemy is.
The emotions in this story are intense and chaotic!
Jessie wakes up after a year in a coma and attempts to uncover the truth about her past, but she has no memory of what happened. People around her are reluctant to share any information, as the doctors want her to recover her memories in her own time. With so many unanswered questions, her confusion leads her to a state of frustration. When she receives a chilling message that says "Don't trust anyone," it only deepens her uncertainty, revealing that secrets are being kept from her.
Now, not only must she piece together her past, but she also has to figure out whom she can trust.
I listened to the audiobook narrated by Kate Handford. Kate Handford perfectly synchronised with the story, making the listening experience thoroughly enjoyable.

I totally binge listened to this, the narrator was excellent and the story had me hooked straight away.
As the story is told only from the perspective of the main character Jessie it keeps the story on a clear trajectory. However, with limited memories to recall what events have taken place, the story unravels with Jessie’s small discoveries along the way.
Very good for fans of Frieda McFadden.
Really fast paced paced with lots of twists and turns to keep you guessing

The twists were crazily good! The shocking ending was mind-blowing which was a relief to some degree. As a fast-paced thriller, the author DK Hood built up a perfect vibe and the narrator presented it so well. The Liar I Married is a book that you think you know what's happening next but not!
I am definitely looking forward to the author's next book.
Many thanks to Netgalley, the publisher and the author for my copy.

The twists? The lies? The betrayal? Omg it does not stop. D.K. Hood absolutely nailed this thriller! I devoured it in a single day and completely ignored all responsibilities because I had to know what would happen next.
I’ve seen a few people say the ending was predictable, but maybe I’m just naïve because it definitely got me. Honestly though even if I had guessed it this still would’ve been such a fun and wild ride. Sometimes it’s not just about the shock but it’s about how well the story keeps you hooked and this one had me all the way through.
If you’re looking for something binge worthy, full of jaw dropping turns and nonstop tension, this is it. Add it to your TBR. I promise you won’t regret it.

A nice face pace thriller for sure. I love a good twisty thriller and this one did not disappoint. I really thought it was going one way and was very surprised when the 3rd twist came. I did really enjoy it. It felt like the ending was rushed a bit but overall a really good quick book. Love a good wife/husband thriller. :)
The audio was so good I loved the engagement and excitement.
This was an early listening copy from NetGalley and Bookouture Audio. This book releases next week on Aug 22. Make sure to grab it.

Gripping, shocking, thrilling, and hard to put down! The Liar I Married: A totally addictive psychological thriller with a mind-blowing twist is a stand-alone book by D.K. Hood. If you have read one of my D.K. Hood's fabulous series, then you know here wonderful writing, well thought out plots, and thrilling mysteries. In The Liar I Married: A totally addictive psychological thriller with a mind-blowing twist she tells the story of a woman who was in a horrific accident comes out of a coma and no one will tell her what happened or where her children are.
Jessie wakes up to see a nurse standing over her bed. The nurse informs her that she has been in a car accident and is recuperating under her care. Initially Jessie has a very limited memory as to what led up to the accident and where she was going. She also wonders where her husband and children are currently. As the book progresses, readers are given snippets of Jessies life leading up to the accident. Readers learn of Jessie's life with her husband who is seldom home and appears to be spending all his time with his co-worker, Rebecca. Readers also get to see Jessie and her road to recovery and her interactions with her husband and those who come to visit her.
D.K. Hood is a master at having readers wonder who is being honest, who is reliable and who is dishonest. I wrestled with you was the liar in this book. So many questions swirled through my head about the accident and about Jessie's experiences both before the accident and while she was recovering. Just when she feels she has a handle on things, Jessie finds a note that tells her to not trust anyone.
I enjoyed the mounting tension, and the undercurrent of unease Jessie feels as she tries to piece together what happened to her, what she is currently experiencing, and the doubts swirling around in her mind. I felt for Jessie and her struggles to understand her current predicament and wrestle with her reality.
I enjoyed the two timelines and the unraveling of the well thought out plot. There were quite a few characters I wanted to throttle while reading this book. I thought D.K. Hood did a tremendous job of keeping readers and Jessie in the dark and trying to come up with answers.
Wonderfully written, well thought out, gripping and shocking!

Huge thanks to NetGalley and @Bookouture for the ALC in exchange for an honest review.
Wow, this one kept me hooked from start to finish. The Liar I Married is a twisty, addictive psychological thriller that plays on memory, trust, and just how well you really know the person you share your life with. From the opening chapters, waking up after a car crash with fuzzy memories and way too many unanswered questions, I was pulled right into the suspense.
D.K. Hood does a great job keeping you second guessing everything and everyone. I was constantly questioning John’s intentions, Rebecca’s role, and whether the narrator’s instincts were spot on or skewed by trauma. Just when I thought I had it figured out, another layer was revealed, and the tension kept building all the way to the final twist.
The audiobook narration by Kate Handford was excellent. She really brought the characters and the story to life, and her delivery made the suspense even more suspenseful for lack of a better word. Her performance pulled me deeper into the story and definitely elevated the whole listening experience.
If you enjoy fast paced psychological thrillers with unreliable memories, tense relationships, and plenty of “who can you trust?” moments, this is the audiobook for you.

3.5 stars…
My issue is that I find it hard to root for or sympathize with a dumb FMC. This woman was told not to trust anyone, and yet she’s throwing his trust around like it’s single dollar bills at a strip club. AND THEN SHOCKED WHEN SHE GETS BETRAYED?!?
The overall concept of the book is pretty interesting, though I feel like the execution could have been better. Can I be honest? SPOILER AHEAD: I’m not sure why the book is called ‘The Liar I Married’ when it’s actually her brother that’s the liar. Her husband didn’t seem to lie much at all—he was just a shitty husband.
All in all, I love thriller and mystery books. This one fell a little short for me due to an irritating main character and some predictability. Not sure if I’d recommend to others…
Thank you NetGalley for giving me an ARC!

A dark and seriously suspenseful tale that kept me gripped right through to the end.
Told in the first person, you are only aware of the facts as the protagonist sees them. But is she crazy? Jessie awakes from a year long coma with memory loss after a car accident. But memories she does have a apparently false. She doesn't know who to trust or what is true. This book really keeps you on the edge of your seat and will make a great film one day.

Jessie definitely went through a lot in this story, as she has awaken from a coma after a horrible accident. With a shaky memory, Jessie tries to decipher who is gaslighting her and who truly had her best interest at heart. This gripping thriller held my attention the entire time, and I was truly invested into Jessie’s outcome. I enjoyed the dual time lines that alternated between the months leading to the accident & after Jessie awakens. D.K. Hood did a great job at building suspense, causing you to become engulfed in this suspenseful read.
In the audiobook, Kate Handford did a fantastic job with the narration! She made you feel every intense scene & truly brought life to Jessie, making us empathize with her even more.
With unreliable narrators, the unlikeliest of suspects, gaslighting and more.. I’d recommend this read! Thank you Bookouture Audio and NetGalley for this advanced listening copy. All opinions are my own.

Listen. This book had me side-eyeing everyone. Husband, wife, the so-called friends, even the random side characters — nobody was safe from my suspicion. The Liar I Married is messy, twisty, and full of secrets stacked so high it felt like I was playing Jenga with my sanity.
The writing pulls you in quick, and once you’re there? Good luck escaping. Every chapter dangled a little breadcrumb just to make me question everything I thought I knew. The tension between truth and lies is chef’s kiss — the kind of slow-burn chaos that keeps you glued to the page while muttering “oh no they didn’t” under your breath.
Now, I’m not gonna lie, some of these characters made me want to scream into a pillow with their decisions. But honestly? That just made the whole thing juicier. It’s like watching a train wreck — you can’t look away, and the ending makes sure of it. I thought I had it all figured out, and then BAM — curveball.
If you’re into thrillers that make you question how well you really know the people closest to you, this one’s your jam. Pour yourself a drink, buckle in, and prepare to be lied to.
Big thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for the ARC — y’all really fed my drama-loving soul with this one.

I loved the pace of this book and the narrator did a great job and was easy to listen to but the actual plot was a bit much and very unbelievable. Unfortunately i didn't love it but wasn't the worst I listened to recently. Thanks to netgalley and the publisher for this arc.

While this was fast paced and I finished it (which is saying a lot since my DNF rate has been quite high as of late), the plot was very ridiculous and redundant, we've all seen the patient who comes out of coma and then wonders if she is going crazy. Probably one of my least favorite tropes. The FMC could have been a bit faster on the uptake, she trusted very obviously shady people, and the twist was obvious from a few chapters in.
But the narrator was quite good, which is why I stuck through the book.

The Liar I Married was precisely the book I needed right now. I have been in a bit of a reading rut and haven't been getting sucked into any books. Finally, I was sucked in and transported to the believable world that D.K. Hood put together.
Jessie was in a car accident and was in a coma for a year. Her life support was turned off, and she was expected to die. Jesse did the unthinkable and not only survived but started to recover.
The night of the accident and what led up to it was a haze, and slowly, Jesse started to remember bits and pieces of what happened.
Once she was awake, Jesse was given a note that said not to trust anyone. It seemed a few people would have a lot to gain if Jesse were to die. I loved the allure around this mystery.
The obvious suspect and the person that Jesse focuses on the most is her husband, John. I loved how hard to read he was. I was never able to gauge whether I trusted him or not fully.
I was so invested in this book that I sprinted to the finish. The only thing holding me back from five stars was the lead-up to the ending. I felt that this was a little too easy to figure out. Once I did, I expected something else. That something else never came. I don’t think you always need that something extra, but in this case, the major reveals came a little too early that I felt the ending was missing something.
Overall, this is a fantastic book, and it has successfully sucked me in and broken me out of my dry spell.

Jessie just woke up from her coma. They tell her that she got injured in an accident and it was all her fault. Nobody will tell her more about the accident and what happened while she was in a coma. Slowly she starts to remember more and more about her life leading up to the accident.
Then she gets a note that tells her that she shouldn’t trust anyone. Will she ever find out what happened the night of the accident? And who can she trust now?
I absolutely loved this book. This psychological thriller kept me engaged all throughout the story. The story kept me guessing who was lying and who she could trust.
I was so surprised with the twists at the end. They were really good and unexpected.
I listened to this book as an audiobook and I really liked the production. The narrator was really good as well. She spoke clearly and it was easy to understand.
I recommend this book to anyone looking for a good psychological thriller.
Thank you NetGalley for the ARC in exchange for my honest review.
