This is definitely a psychological thriller! He is abusive. She lost her memory. She is being told what happened, but it doesn't match the flashbacks she gets at times. Who can she trust? Who is telling the truth? Can she trust her mind?
It was not predictable, and kept me wondering where the story was going. I was surprised at the ending.
Overall, I enjoyed this book! Thanks to NetGalley for the ARC.

“Twisty, Tense, and Trust No One”
The Liar I Married by D.K Hood, is a domestic thriller that thrives on one thing: uncertainty. From the first chapter to the last, a game of psychological hide-and-seek plays out for the reader, where every character has something to hide—and the truth is always just out of reach.
The story follows Jessie, who wakes from a coma with a hazy memory and a creeping suspicion that something about her husband, Andrew, isn’t quite right. As her mind begins to piece together fragments of her life before the accident, the line between paranoia and reality becomes blurred.
What I liked: the pacing is solid, the atmosphere tense, and the twists come frequently enough to keep you on edge. The unreliable narration—both from Jessie and the people around her—makes it feel like you're constantly one page away from the truth… until you're not. You're never quite sure who to trust, and that's where this book shines.
It’s a great read for fans of gaslighting, dark secrets, and stories where nothing is quite what it seems. If you enjoy domestic thrillers that mess with your head just enough to keep you flipping pages, this one’s worth the ride.
Thank you to NetGalley for an ARC of this book in exchange for an honest review. This book will be published August 21, 2025.

I have been seeing this book in the bookstagram space for sometimes now and I have heard rave reviews about it. The Liar i married is hyped up for all the right reasons as this psychological thriller undeniably grips the reader's attention with its unpredictable twists and turns.
The story follows Jessie, a loving wife and mother of her twin daughters. Everything went downhill when she begins to suspect John her husband having an affair. Then she has a terrible car accident that leads to her being in coma for a long time. Upon waking up she finds herself in different circumstances. Everybody is acting suspicious and is surely hiding things from her.
John has hired a paid nurse for her and he almost never bothers to visit her. When her grandmother passed away John put pressure on her to let him handle the investments and other financial holdings. But that's not all. There is something way more elaborate than what meets the eye.
I was absolutely thrilled to read this because the premise was absolutely intriguing. Fleshing out the elements of surprises, mystery, secrets, lies and consequences of a plot, the author has explored each aspect in an extraordinary way.

Jessie wakes up in a hospital bed after a devastating car accident—an accident she doesn’t fully remember. Her husband, John, tells her it was her fault and insists she leave the past behind to recover. But fragments of that night linger: an empty wine glass, whispers of betrayal with Rebecca, an argument on the doorstep. As Jessie pieces together what really happened, she finds herself isolated, disoriented, and haunted by a chilling message: Don’t trust anyone. From there, doubt seeps into everything, even her own memories.
This book had me on edge the entire time. The dual timelines, Jessie’s life before the crash and her recovery afterward, created a perfectly balanced rhythm of suspense, with each flashback adding new layers to the mystery. The pacing was spot-on, moving quickly enough to keep the tension high while still allowing moments for the suspense to simmer. Every time I thought I had figured something out, another twist would turn the story in a completely new direction, keeping me second-guessing everything and everyone.
One of my favorite elements in thrillers is an unreliable narrator, and Jessie’s fractured memory and growing mistrust made this story absolutely captivating. I never knew who or what to believe, and that constant uncertainty pulled me even deeper into the plot. The narrator for the audiobook did an exceptional job bringing Jessie’s emotions to life—her fear, confusion, and fleeting moments of clarity felt so real that I experienced them alongside her.
I loved every second of this well-crafted psych thriller that had me engrossed from the very first scene and refused to let go. With its commanding tension, unpredictable twists, and emotionally immersive storytelling, this is a must-read for anyone who loves suspense done right.
Thank you NetGalley and Bookouture Audio for the ALC in exchange for my honest review.

Ok. So I’m going to try to give this one a great review, BUT, I’m not sure how I’M going to pull that off without giving anything away!
Let’s start with the fact that Jessie and John are married.
He’s smart, rich, handsome and has a solid non-negotiable pre-nup. And, Jessie believes he’s cheating on her at every given opportunity. 😮😮😮
Next up… Jessie can never leave him because she cannot LIVE without an income. So, she puts up with all the nonsense…. And, for the sake of her girls…
BUT, when Jessie’s grandma dies and leaves a lot of money/assets to her… well, everything is about to change!
They are arguing ALL THE TIME!
And, the fact he’s just hired a new lawyer for his firm, and she’s a knockout… well, that doesn’t help matters…
So, when we find Jessie unconscious, all but dead…in a hospital… well, life as she knows it is about to change!
But she has NO IDEA how much. Why? Or who is behind all of this!!??!!
She remembers an accident… but everything else is foggy….
As her memories begin to return though, well, the reader is in for a real treat!!
#TheLiarIMarried by @DKHood. Narrated beautifully by @KateHandford.

This was the first book I’ve read (or listened!) by the author. It was a genuinely enjoyable experience. If you enjoy thriller; then this one is definitely for you!
This is an ARC review. I appreciate receiving this copy from NetGalley and the publisher in return for an honest review.

Thanks to NetGalley for an ALC. Honestly, this book was pretty terrible. Like many bad thrillers, the FMC is pretty unintelligent. And I’m sorry, but if you woke up from a several month coma and nobody would tell you where your children are/if they’re ok… there’s no way any parent would be ok with this. And seeing as how this happened in the book, it drove me nuts. Really unrealistic, and not very “twisty” at all. Definitely not recommended- sorry.

I absolutely loved this book! The audio has the perfect flow, I was invested the whole time. This book follows Jessie as she tries to find the truth about her car accident and losing some of her memories. There were quite the amount of plot twists! I love a psychological thriller that plays with my head, and the author did not miss! I was questioning everyone throughout the book. Definitely recommend this one, especially the audiobook!

Thank you netgalley for the audiobook ARC. I did enjoy this book 3.5 ⭐️ .
Jessie was in a car crash and wakes up after a year with memories she can’t trust. Before the crash her grandmother passed away and left her with the family manor. Who can Jessie trust to help her remember what happened?
A lot of unlikable characters, fairly predictable but still an enjoyable read.

Gripping from the beginning to the end!!! twists you will not see coming.
Thank you to Netgalley for allowing me access before publication date.

Thank you so much to Netgalley and Bookouture Audio for the ALC of this book in exchange for my honest review!
This book follows Jessie told through two different timelines. Jessie is in a car accident and spends a year in a coma. When she wakes up, she has amnesia and spends time trying to remember the events leading up to the accident. She needs to learn who in her family she can trust while trying to put all of the pieces back together…all while everyone is trying to keep her isolated in the name of “aiding in her recovery”.
This is such a classic psychological thriller and I ATE IT UP. It was such an easy listen and the narrator was fabulous. It included so many different elements of mistrust and included an unreliable narrator as she slowly gets her memory back. I loved all of the complex relationships and thought it was really well done. My only downside was that the twist was fairly predictable, but it was still very enjoyable. A solid 4 ⭐️ read for me! Pub date: August 22, 2025!

The premise for this was so interesting and different to other thrillers that are currently out. I was gripped from the very beginning!
Told of dual timelines of before and after Jessie's car accident we see the story from Jessie's perspective. Following the car accident, Jessie is suffering from memory loss, but no one will tell her what really happened,. They claim she needs to recover these memories when she's ready. I love books with an unreliable narrator where we don't know what is real or who to trust.
I really liked the main character and was heartbroken for her as she learned of the accident and tried to regain her memories. There were certain characters that I really hated and some that I misjudged.
The twists in this had me saying "what the f..." out loud, more than once! My jaw was on the floor! I feel the author did a really good job keeping us in suspense and making us question every character.
The is my first D.K. Hood and I really enjoyed the writing style so I will definitely look for more books by this author. I loved the narrator and felt completely immersed in the story as I listened to it.
Pick this up if you like
Amnesia plots
Unreliable narrators
Dual timelines
Twists that completely shock you!
Thank you to Bookouture Audio for the advanced audio copy.

Thank you for the audio ARC. This was my
First book by this author. I enjoyed the story as well as the narrator. It kept me wondering what was reality and what wasn’t with some good twists.
Jessie wakes from a coma after a year. She was in a car accident but doesn’t remember it. The story jumps from a year prior to the accident to present day.

Thank you, Netgalley & bookouture for giving me the opportunity to listen to this great book before publication. This is my first D.K Hood and I was completely blown away. I enjoyed the momentum of suspense definitely kept me very invested in the story and I completely loved the main character Jessie such a bad ass. I will say I was not expecting the twist. It was surprising. I will definitely be picking up more books by the author.

The Liar I Married hooked me right away with its quick pacing and gripping premise. I loved the coma storyline, the deep sense of betrayal, and Jessie’s unreliable memories that kept me questioning every character. The alternating timelines—switching between past and present—were handled beautifully, and the flashbacks added tension and depth without slowing the story. The “Then” and “Now” structure kept the mystery sharp and everyone under suspicion.
That said, the plot lost me a bit when the sperm-donor storyline came into play. It felt jarring compared to the rest of the narrative and pulled me out of the suspenseful rhythm. I was far more invested in the core mystery: the accident, the memory gaps, and the unraveling web of lies. While the big twist didn’t land as strongly for me as it might for others, the fast pace, layered tension, and clever use of flashbacks kept me turning pages late into the night.
If you like psychological thrillers with shifting perspectives, unreliable narrators, and a steady drip of revelations, this one will keep you hooked from start to finish.

It was an okay thriller. The plot twist was nice enough but imo it got cheapened by the fact that both characters (the suspect and the real culprit) personalities were presented one way up until 70% of the book, only to suddenly change. I understand what the author was trying to do, but they should have at least planted little seeds here and there that would justify the reveal or that could be interpreted ambiguously so they would make sense after the reveal.

I would like to thank bookouture audio for giving me the opportunity to listen to such a wonderful book.
The authors.K Hood hadn’t let us know anything until the end , the story was very believable and I found It really difficult to believe any of the family members which is what kept me guessing until the end.
Kate Hanford was superb in narration it and really brought each character to life . She is definitely someone I would live to listen to again

Story is told
Present Day and
Then before Jessie’s accident
Story starts when Jessie Harper wakes up from a being in a coma for a year. She and six-year old twin daughters Emily and Olivia were in a car accident. When she wakes up she remembers little. She knows she is married to John. It turns out she was in an induced coma to help reduce the swelling in her brain. She is now at home with a full time nurse. No one will tell how the girls are – she is told doctors orders are for her to remember on her own. Hamm – it appears many don’t want Jessie to remember.
Dolly her current nurse tells her she is her third nurse. However, she knows Jessie was on life-support but after a month of no improved John requested she be removed from support. Hmmm
Jessie remembers that her grandmother died and left her a large inheritance including the family estate – “Stonebridge Manor - which has been the family home for years.
Story goes back nearly a year before the accident. Jessie and John were married for eight years and she thought they were happy however now she suspects that John is having an affair. She asks her brother Michael is he might help. He follows John and confirms that he does have dinner with a woman but it seems to be work related. Her name is Rebecca and true that she is beautiful. She also knows that John was pushed to take control of her inheritance of the family's large holdings and investments,
Something he continued after the accident, as he sought to show she was not of sound mind. However, with each passing day, Jessie was able to piece things together a little more. She might have been too weak to pull the rug out from under her husband, but she would not condone John's philandering ways. Story is full of excitement!!
I was lucky enough to read this story as well as listen to the audio,
Narrator Kate Hanford did a super jog performing these characters.
Yep she had me totally gripped!
I have read several other D.K. Hood books and really enjoyed them. I read most of the Special Agent Beth Katz series as well as Alton and Kane.
In D. K. Hood’s bio we learn that she always had a wicked sense of humor and was the kid who told the ghost stories around the campfire.
Now enjoys writing crime, mystery and thrillers. With many stories, waiting for her to write she looks forward to sharing many spine-tingling stories with us!!
A Big Thank You to NetGalley and Bookouture Audio for this audiobook.

When Jesse wakes up with no memory of the accident that left her in a coma she has no idea who she can trust. With millions of dollars and her inheritance on the line she has to quickly figure out what’s true and what’s fiction as her memories of the days before come crawling back. Who was really responsible for the car crash? Where are her children?
This one had me hooked from the very beginning thanks in large part to the amazing narration. The voices and storytelling added so much more to the overall experience. Filled with twists and turns I couldn’t wait to figure out what really happened and how all my questions were going to be answered.
