Royalty, brotherhood, theft, deception, a plot to destroy and a battle to find love. A regency romance that will sweep you off your feet and take you into a world where any action could be reason for death, and sometimes despite giving justification still could warrant your downfall.

As a huge fan of PBS’s Victoria series, I welcomed this series set in the early reign of Queen Victoria.

In the year of Our Lord 1838 the young Queen has just taken the throne of England, and right off the bat, enemy is lurking around and the plots abound to end her reign.

However, there are men who’ve sworn to protect the throne and England’s rightful heir. They are the legendary secret organization dedicated to protecting England’s ruler, Custos a Vesica (the Brotherhood of the Sword). These men are fiercely loyal, passionate and duty bound to protect, even at the costs of their lives, their sovereign.

I liked the fast pace of this story almost as much as our man characters, Bennett and Evelyn. Both were such rich characters and their happily ever after was fraught with a lot of complex situations, but the road they traveled was entertaining and fun. I liked it a lot!

As the first book in the Brotherhood of the Sword series, we’re off to a good start and I’m looking forward to the rest of the stories.
