So cute, so fun, so perfect for the season. My kiddos are going to love, love, love this one. I will absolutely be purchasing a copy for my library and I hope there are many more to come.

The Witches of Pepperwood Bay has a fantastically whimsical and cosy art style that would not be out of place in any number of different media formats. I could see this as a light novel, a visual story-telling/ puzzle game and even animated! The premise itself is simple with three witch sisters uncovering the mystery of the lost teapot which is low-stakes and perfectly set up for travelling to different places and meeting different mythical monsters!

Where the story fell short is the dialogue. It was unclear if this was meant for young middle-schoolers with its more simple back and forths or perhaps young teenagers with its longer dialogues. Where the art style was fun and bright, the actual interactions between characters fell short and left me wanting more. The rule of threes and the author's own experience as a middle child with two sisters are the inspiration behind the three witches and I just wish we saw a bit more fire or energy from them.

What a magical read! In what feels like a crossover between Sailor Moon and Practical Magic, in this beautiful graphic novel we follow three witch sisters who embark on a cozy adventure to recover a missing magical teapot and meet friends along the way. This is the type of story that can be enjoyed by young readers and adults alike. The stakes are low but it still is fun and relaxing to read. I will be continuing following this cute story.

This book was so darling! The illustrations were absolutely beautiful! I would totally recommend this to anybody reading with a young reader or not, it is so cute! I just know the rest of the series will be so cute as well! It’s such a cute little mystery and so fun!

This is a uniquely drawn graphic novel, the rich and vibrant colours made it really enjoyable to read and the full backgrounds really show the island all the characters live on.

The story is enjoyable, seeing different parts of the island, as well as the different adventures they go on. The cut scene with the familiars was also a fun addition as it made the reader part of the story. It does leave the story on a cliff hanger, so I will be interested in the next volume for sure!

A cute story about three young witches who try to help find a missing teapot.
The art style of this novel is outstandingly pretty, but the story left me a little unimpressed.

Thank you to the publisher for the review copy.

In this children’s graphic novel, three witch sisters—Juniper, Lily, and Clover—are the guardians of Pepperwood Bay and the caretakers of a magical lighthouse portal. When Ms. Fiddleneck, a local farmer, loses her magical teapot after the festival, the sisters must work together to solve the mystery.

I really enjoyed the art style in this book; however, I felt that something was missing. At the end it mentions that it was originally a webcomic with GIFs. Additionally, I found the age bracket a bit broad, as it sometimes felt more appropriate for children while at other times leaning towards a teenage audience.

I recommend this book to anyone who enjoys mysteries, sister relationships, and magic.,

The first instalment in THE WITCHES OF PEPPERWOOD BAY offers a small adventure while laying the groundwork for what I assume to be the larger arc of the series. I must admit, I was a little disappointment that it didn't have a proper ending, which I'm used to even from other Middle Grade graphic novels, but alas. It's a bit heavy-handed for my taste, but tastes vary. What I fell in love with from the first pace were the illustrations. My goodness. The color scheme is so fun and actually changes a bit depending on the setting of the scene. It's all very dynamic and fun.

This was a cute and quick middle grade graphic novel based on three witchy sisters trying to figure out a mystery of who stole one of their neighbor's magical tea pot that grows tea and all sorts of goods for the village they live in. The three sisters were your typical dynamic, the older more responsible child, the middle child mediating the others, and the third wild child. The story was very basic and continues in the next book of the series, but it was still a cute read. The illustrations were done well and definitely will captivate the target audience.

I can't wait for the next volume to be released! I love following these three sisters as they are on the search for the missing teapot. We meet some friends and unusual creatures along the way. I absolutely loved all of the illustrations as well.

Rating: ★ ★ ★.5 (3.5)

"Witches of Pepperwood Bay" (vol. 1) is a charming start to a new cozy series. I really enjoyed how different the sisters felt to me—each of their personalities came through clearly, which made their interactions fun to follow. The artwork is beautiful and sets a cozy, magical tone that fits the story well.

That said, the beginning felt a little weak for me. It took a bit of time to get into the flow of the story, and I wish the setup had been a bit stronger. Still, as a first volume, it definitely piqued my curiosity. The ending leaves just enough open to make me want to continue and see where the adventure goes next.

I’m looking forward to seeing how the series develops.

Witchy sisters for the win!

Juniper, Lily, and Clover are three witch sisters who live on the beautiful island of Pepperwood Bay, where they work hard to make sure that everyone lives in harmony. When the vital sparkroot plant starts to rot, it's up to the sisters to solve the problem before their community is impacted.

Reading this graphic novel feels like being sucked into a beautiful Hawaiian postcard; the illustrations and colours are lush, fully immersing the reader in the magical story. The plot itself allows for the three sisters to become fully and uniquely developed, with the added pleasure of their three familiars (you have to see them to fall in love like I did).

A middle-grade classroom would eat this story up in a hot second, making them wish that they could sample the food from Bread Crumps and journey to Pepperwood Bay to experience its magic.

I can't wait to read the next volume to see what happens next!

Thank you to NetGalley and Papercutz for the opportunity to read this book for free in exchange for my honest review.

What a lovely, cozy, graphic novel. There is a mystery that the trio of sisters want to solve and it is left unsolved by the end of the book, but in a rare case that didn't bother me at all. This book was just a nice, gentle pace and the illustrations are gorgeous, I will be keeping an eye out for the next chapter!

4’5/5⭐️ Thank you to NetGalley, the publisher and the author for an arc of “The witches of Pepperwood Bay”. The art style in this graphic novel was truly a masterpiece. The colors, all the little stars and tiny details regarding witchcraft, i loved it so much. I love all things related to witches and witchcraft, so obviously i really liked the story in this book. I think the combination between the story and the art style make this the perfect cozy witchy graphic novel 🩷

A well written, cute and action packed murder mystery involving three young witch sisters- Juniper, Lily and Clover as they help to locate a missing teapot for an old lady so she can make her tea and tasty pastries for the villagers.
The story introduces various other supernatural creatures such as a werewolf and a vampire who go to stay at the Pepperwood Bay Hotel run by the sisters and the vampire comes across as being elusive and mysterious (but in an odd way). I enjoyed the story, liked the characters especially the side characters who lived in the ocean and would gladly read the next installment in the series.
A huge thankyou to Net galley and Papercutz for an advanced review of this fun and bite sized graphic novel.

Thank you so much to Papercutz and Netgalley for the ebook to read and review.

What a fun graphic novel, I loved diving into the world of Pepperwood Bay. Meeeting the three talented sister witches, seeing all that they do and create. It was a great adventure delving into this book.

I loved the way the witches were drawn, each one so unique which suited them so perfectly due to each one’s personality, they were the perfect dynamic together. One’s weakness was another’s strength which I really loved whilst reading it.

The storyline was very gripping, a fun mystery to unlock and try to solve. A magic teapot is missing, the crops have died and everyone saw a suspicious Kelpie at the harvest fest. I really enjoyed going on the journey to figure out if the kelpie really did it.

I was so sad when the story ended though, we didn’t get all the answers and I was so into it I didn’t want to stop, which is great as it’s a hook that makes you really want to keep reading the whole series of them. Getting to solve the mysteries and see the witches do their magic.

An incredible graphic novel, middle grade readers in particular would love this book. It’s got so many amazing elements to it from the sister witches and their magic, to mermaids and kelpies, to vampires and so much more. It would be a great read for the spooky season, but can also be enjoyed anytime of year too.

The Witches of Pepperwood Bay by Lisa Manuzak Wiley tells the story of three witch sisters in a fantastical world of mermaids, vampires, shifters, and more. They are trying to solve the mystery of the stolen teapot while becoming more accepting of each other's witchy capabilities.

First off, I loved the illustrations in this graphic novel. They're beautiful and whimsical and colourful. Even the terrifying kraken was beautifully illustrated with multiple shapes and colours.

I also loved the world-building through the illustrations and storyline. The sisters travel to different parts of their world and meet different, unique creatures. It's just so wonderfully thought out and put together.

The plot is short-lived because it will continue in the second volume. Here, the sisters follow one lead for a possible suspect, who then gives them.another lead to be followed in volume 2. I wish it had more mystery elements, but I think once the series has more volumes, it will read more fluidly.

Thank you to Papercutz and Lisa Manuzak Wiley for this ARC!

Three witch sisters are the caretakers of the Pepperwood Bay lighthouse and must be ready for anything. In this adventure they’re looking for a missing teapot!

This was quite cute and is sure to be a hit with kids looking for a fun magical time (they even turn into mermaids at one point). This series is sure to appeal to any young reluctant reader and I can't wait to recommended it to them.

The characters are established quickly and are distinct from each other making an interesting dynamic. The middle sister, Lily likes to keep to herself but often has to act as some what of a peace keeper between the eldest, Juniper, and youngest, Clover. Juniper is a rule follower and feels responsible for her siblings well being. Clover is more reckless and eager to prove herself.

The art is clear and colourful with is perfect for this age group. Can’t wait to find out what happens next!

Thank you Papercutz for the ARC.
