All's Well that Friends Well
Lucky in Love book 2
By Gracie Ruth Mitchell

✨Audio review✨
Let me start by saying Ellen Quay and Eric Fox narrated this story SO well and brought this story to life! The animated way they narrate Juliet and her shenanigans was perfection!

Oh, my goodness! This is such a fun sweet read! This is book 2 in the Lucky in Love series, but can be read as a standalone.

Juliet Marigold is the sunshine to Luca Slater’s grump! This story is sweet, charming, filled with laugh out loud moments, swoony tension, and imperfect people who work through their flaws and struggles. Juliet can at times be over the top, she is working through her own anxiety and Luca, though frustrated with her at times learns to care for her, all of her. They help each with the areas they fall short and they become stronger individually and together.

The banter between Luca and Juliet is so fun!! I loved their meet-cute, the office romance, the water temperature war, the work breakfast, Luca’s ‘official’ meeting of the family, the epilogue, and so much more!

“Juliet Marigold is an experience. She’s not someone that will enter your life quietly, be it as a friend or lover or even just an employee.”

Read this story for the laughs, the swoony moments, a tight family bond, and an epic grump/sunshine!

I needed this laugh out loud story! Thank you to the author and @NetGalley for the gifted ALC.

Narrated by Ellen Quay and Eric Fox
Audiobook ARC 4.5⭐️

Thank you NetGalley and Dreamscape Select for the ARC. I really enjoyed the audiobook!

My love for Luca Slater is not unrequited. It's just…not requited yet.
Did I break into his house? Technically yes. And did I eavesdrop on that one tiny little conversation? Also yes. But I had good reasons!
Unfortunately, Luca does not agree. So while I fell for him at first sight, his opinion of me is dismally low, and it’s about to get lower. Because as of today, I am officially working at his office…as the new janitor.
Cleaning toilets isn’t sexy, and I am not cut out for sanitizer and scrub brushes. But I need this job--begged for this job, in fact--so I’m going to make the best of it.
When I see Luca is having some work problems of his own, however, and when I realize I might be just the person to help, I offer my services immediately. As the new branch manager, he needs help softening his image in order to win over his employees, and if there’s one thing I’m great at, it’s people skills.
If I can prove useful, maybe Luca will finally see me as a woman instead of a silly little girl. Maybe he’ll finally realize I’m the one he’s destined to be with forever.
So I’ll help Luca win over his employees, and while I’m at it, I’ll win him over, too. I’m going to do everything I can to make this man fall for me…
One mopped floor at a time.

This was a stupendous follow up to the first one. We obviously see these two a bit in the first and it set the stage for an incredible love story! It was swoony. I loved the winning over and her being consistent sunshine in his life was just so sweet! The audiobook was so well done!

Thank you NetGalley for the opportunity to listen to this ALC!

The audiobook was dual narration performed by Ellen Quay and Eric Fox. They did a great job narrating and their voices worked well for the story and characters.

This was a cute, clean, fun romance. The characters were likable and the banter was great. It was well written and had a good, steady pace. I found myself laughing quite a few times at the moments and conversations between Juliette and Luca. Juliette was great with her bubbly, sunny personality despite her struggles. Her antics and ability to blurt whatever popped into her head were something else, lol. Luca was quite the grump but, you couldn’t help liking him. He was a teddy bear behind his protective shields. It was a quick read and I enjoyed it.

Honestly this book is beyond ridiculous. I’m sad that this is my first Gracie Ruth Mitchell book, because I wouldn’t read anything else by her… but I think I will because I’ve heard she has some better books.

Juliette… a cross between legally blonde and Barbie. I found her to be obnoxiously annoying and couldn’t connect with her. She basically stalked and threw herself at Luca… which was so cringy. She also harassed him at work… Desperation is never a good trait 😬

Luca… he had more depth but was such a grump. He caved too easily and was fine with her stalking, harassing, and throwing herself at him.

In my honest opinion this is the Walmart version of The One with the Kiss Cam… said what I said.

I received a complimentary audiobook. All opinions expressed are my own. Thank you Dreamscape select and NetGalley!

Okay, this was hilarious! I read/listened to the audiobook, and that might have actually made it even funnier. The narrators did such a wonderful job of voicing these deep and lively characters.

Juliet reminded me of Elle Woods from Legally Blonde. Confident, optimistic, big heart, and a bit clueless. She has little filter between her brain and her mouth, she doesn't get embarrassed easily, and she's super friendly. She was hilarious to read. She's hilariously shameless. She knew that she wanted Luca, and she relentlessly pursued him.

This could have been totally sexual harassment. If this were gender flipped, then it probably would be icky. But because Juliet was harmless then this story comes across as harmlessly funny. Am I being sexist if I think that it's okay for a woman to relentlessly pursue a man but not the other way around? I mean, it's not something that I would do, but it was funny to read about.

Oh Luca. He's not quite socially awkward, but he has a PR problem (personal relations). I identify with not saying hello to everyone and not always knowing how to talk to people. His struggles and growth through them were wonderful to read about. And his reactions to Juliet's ridiculousness were great.

I loved the examples of positive affirmations and combating negative thoughts that this book provided.

Tropes:

All's Well that Friends Well by Gracie Ruth Mitchell

Oh my adorable!!! Seriously, I loved this one so much. I really loved book 1, but I even loved this one more. Juliet and Luca together=cutest couple award!

Juliet Marigold is bright sunshine personified. She is a go-getter, confident, adores her sisters, loves to bake, and as soon as she laid her eyes on Luca Slater for the first time, she knew she was in love with him. I love how he helps her heal in ways no one else was able to do.

Luca Slater is as grumpy and surly as a person can get. And he has every right to feel that way as he has some very sad things that happened in his past. As I learned of his pain and heartache, I just wanted to weep for him. I love his transformation, healing, and growth throughout the story, with the help of Juliet.

I really adore all of the Marigold siblings and their dynamic. I love their loyalty to each other and how they rely on and help each other.

This was the perfect grumpy/sunshine! I laughed so much throughout. I even cried a bit toward the end.I definitely recommend this perfect romcom!

And...Ellen Quay and Eric Fox made the perfect duo for the audiobook! Their performance was outstanding!

Truly a grumpy/sunshine delight! Toss in Gracie’s signature knack for marrying depth with humor, some workplace romance, quirkiness, and plenty of swoon and you have Luca and Juliet’s story in a nutshell! I just love the Marigold siblings and cannot wait for the next two stories!

TW: Past loss (& dealing with guilt), Disordered Eating
CW: Innuendo, Bra Exposure (comical, not overtly sensual)

The narration was fantastic. Love this duo for romcom audio and I enjoyed every bit of my listen!

Book 2 absolutely reads as a stand-alone.
Narrated in DUAL style

This is a tough one for me. I did NOT connect with either main character. If the genders were reversed and trigger warnings were ON PAGE, this could be a dark romance. Instead, the FMC is OTT with her whole "dressing for the job you want" and the humiliation she endures from former classmates was annoying as he11.

The MMC was a jerk to his employees, does not know their names or roles, and is so hyper focused on the FMC that he absolutely comes off as a total dork.

Having said that.... If this was set up as a "fairy tale" with the downtrodden gal who is a GREAT janitor moving up after showing great aptitude vs,"enjoying to help people" with golden retriever energy, I think I would have enjoyed it more. I may update the review after sitting with it overnight.

Thank you to NetGalley for the ALC

"If you ever need somewhere to rest...I'm here."

This book will have you laughing one minute and tearing up the next in the best possible way!

Juliet is the sunshine that Luca doesn't think he deserves in his life and somehow Luca, despite his grumpiness and personal struggles, reflects that light right back on Juliet. I love these two together and how they really see each other.

The way the author captures brokenness and despair, as well as the feeling of not measuring up that most of us have felt at one time or another, is simultaneously gut-wrenching and beautiful. This book, while tackling some difficult subjects, is full of hope and the possibility of joy. It is as if the author has harnessed Juliet's sunshine and it pours out of the pages of this book and straight into the reader's heart.

After reading this book I had the opportunity to listen to the audiobook and it did not disappoint. I loved the dual narration. The narrators captured the characters perfectly.

I was SO happy to receive an ALC of All’s Well that Friends Well! I read this book and adored it and the audiobook narrators did a fabulous job bringing Juliet & Luca to life, I don’t think they could have been narrated by anyone more perfect. Ellen Quay was perfect for Juliet’s bubbly, happy personality and Eric Fox was perfect for grumpy Luca!

DNF. Could not stand the FMC, wasn’t invested in the story and characters. The first few chapters should grab your interest and I quit at the 60% mark because I just could not get into the story.

Thankyou for the chance to review your audio book. I really enjoyed the narrators they did an excellent job. I didn't particularly love the FMC she was juvenile and immature. I did like the storyline. I have not read the first book in the series, this definitely reads as a standalone.

I really want to like this, but I just can't... had to DNF around 61%. So I made it past their first kiss and their secrets. There are some good quotes, and good dialogues, giving credit where its due.

First off, I really like Juliet, bubbly, Barbie-like, free, full of love. Just because she's pretty doesn't mean she doesn't have anxiety, a recovering eating disorder young person that did not do well at school. Luca, straight lace, guilt-ridden, glasses wearing grumpy.

In theory, it's a great story, grumpy X sunshine. He has family friend that treats him and guide him. She has great siblings that supports her but doesn't baby her. So much so that I'd like Juliet so much and wanted her to win.

That said, her ways of throwing herself at Luca is cringy. Time again, she get herself in front of him, and even Luca pointed it out. Had it been a man doing it, you would've think that they are a creep. And that's exactly what I got. She is smart, she might not have a degree to proof it, but she's not stupid. She's hard working, and pretty.... but kept throwing yourself at a guy time and time, and time again. Have some dignity, woman!

Sigh... I wanted to like this so much, but alas cannot do it. Sorry. :(
Thanks NetGalley & Dreamscape Select for the ARC. I really enjoyed Eric Fox & Ellen Quay, she really portrayed a really good Juliet.

Juliet Marigold is sunshine.

Underneath it all, she fights battles every single day to smile freely.

This line from Alls Well that Friends Well hit me. I loved the imagery of stepping on demons.

Every person you meet is walking around with scars you can't see. Hurts you know nothing about.

And that confidence you see, it's fought for.

We can all be a little kinder, a little gentler with each other.

BOOK REVIEW-

Alls Well that Friends Well by: Gracie Ruth Mitchell

I laughed out loud from the beginning to the very end.

It's a romcom with none of the usual tropes.

She falls first and wears him down 😂

I love that Mitchell creates her genres and tells unique stories without trying to stay in a lane. I'm looking forward to what she writes next.

Audio- dual narrated. Both narrators were fantastic.

TW: disordered eating (off page) death of fiance (off page, not recounted)
CW: mild swears, kisses

-2 ⭐️

Stalking, but make it cutesy. No means no, unless the person pushing is a woman, then they are free to disregard any boundaries.

The FMC character is a terrible criminal and doesn’t have two brain cells to rub together. The MMC is in desperate need of therapy, first for his ex, and second for Stockholm syndrome.

The narrator was great. The story was slow and didn’t keep me going. I loved the previous book. I struggled with the main characters and this connection it as pulling me in the wrong direction.
