Great idea and concept for a book. A thoroughly enjoyable read. Highly recommended. .

How to cope with the news that you have a rare, devastating form of cancer? And how to cope with the news that your husband, your only love, is gay? In the one and the same day?

I would love to read the novel that copes with these issues deeply. But this novel is written as a chick-lit, so expect just a skin-deep approach to these issues. Overall the story is funny and breezy and it is clear from the beginning that all is ending well here, so if you are here for just a touch of serious, but not the whole portion of it, this is a book for you.
But I am convinced that a whole lot of serious would be better - even the humour would work better, as a mechanism against too much of tears or so.
While I love the edgy angle of a gay husband, this part of the novel is clichey at the best. I mean, this is very difficult situation to encounter! The man is supposed to be your life-long love. So why start with the exciting conflict (from the literary angle) just to continue with the conventional I-hate-him/oh-a-new-sexy guy/I-love-the-sexy-guy/husband-I-forgive-you route? Is it the modern sensitivities? The fear of negative feedback?
The cancer angle works better (the memories of Libby´s mother and the whole feelings around are believable and relatable - actually, this is the only part of the book that speaks to me).

So while Libby´s sarcasm is truly funny and I believe in the healing power of tropical island and rum-infused drinks, I would love to have some more substantial content here.

I recommend to read this as a beach read during the lazy days.

Libby finds out that she has cancer with a low chance of survival. When she arrives home to her husband crying, he thinks it's because she knows he's gay. She is shocked by this revelation, kicks him out of their apartment, quits her job, and decides to spend a month in Puerto Rico while she figures out what to do. Her mom died of cancer when she was young and doesn't want her family to have to deal with it again. Will her brother be able to convince her to get treatment?

It was a very engaging and enjoyable read despite the heavy subject matter. A good mix of serious, wacky, hopeful, and a little romance.

I am sorry to say that I didn't get a chance to read this title before it expired from my e-reader. :(
