The first line “They arrested me at book club”. Like what?! Oh yeah, definitely had to keep going on that one. Had to find out what happened! What a way to hook a reader.
This was a great cozy murder mystery. All the tension between Lydia and Emma, watching how it all unfolded was so much fun. I think I needed something like this. It was perfect.
I do enjoy a book that you think you have it all figured out and then you don’t. I love a character who thinks they are the smartest person in the room only to be wrong.
I would definitely look for more from this author. I enjoyed the writing style a lot

This was good fun and great for any book club to read. Fast and funny, it kept my interest. Would recommend if you want a nice easy read with a bit of murder thrown in.

efficient and interesting murder mystery with some interesting twists and turns. emma is really sympathetic, lydia is really ambitious, and together they work really well. 4 stars. tysm for the arc.

Thank you NetGalley! This was my first read by this author. It started off with a bang and sucked me into the characters world immediately. I love the back and forth between the characters which helped set up the storyline. What an amazing book!

I was so relieved at the reveal of an unreliable narrator halfway through the book. Had that not been the case, I think I would have DNF’d. Glad I stuck it out! A fun read with a clever twist. 4 Stars.

Thank you for letting me read this book! I’m not entirely sure which genre it falls into (thriller or general fiction), but I thoroughly enjoyed it. I loved how the author begins with a book club, then introduces a murder, and takes us on a journey through friendship, abuse, murder, and conspiracy. The book club friendships really helped the protagonist come out of an abusive marriage, using ideas and inspiration they drew from the different books they read. At one point, I genuinely believed Marienne had turned against Emma, but I was glad to see the group stand together to help Emma break free from her marriage.
I also applaud the author for addressing serious topics like financial and mental abuse in marriages, and for showing how important it is for women to gain freedom.
I laughed throughout the book and couldn’t stop reading as it became more and more engaging. Lydia’s character was amazing, and I never expected the conspiracy within the book club.
Towards the end, I was a little unhappy with how the case was wrapped up—I was expecting a bit more drama. I also would have loved to see a deeper connection with Will, if possible.
All in all, this was a fantastic read and definitely the kind of book that gets you out of a reading slump!

i was gripped at the beginning of this book i fealt like i couldnt wait to read more however as i carried on reading i fealt i couldnt get behind any of the chwracters and it was a bit slow in the middle but it was an enjoyable read

This was the first book I’ve read by the author. The cover pulled me in. I love the writing style and narration. I loved it.
This is an ARC review. I appreciate receiving this copy from NetGalley and the publisher in return for an honest review.

firstly thank you so much for the arc!! this book was enjoyable, the first half had me hooked in. I was team Emma for the entire book, Lydia was one of those characters that made me so angry!! She was infuriating with all her actions and her view on women in general but it reminds me that some women are like that.
I liked all the twists and turns for this book.

Thank you to Net Galley and Carrie Hughes for this ARC.
I really liked this book, Lydia really annoyed me though it was hard to read through her parts.
I also really disliked Elliot, how he believed Lydia straight away shocked me.
Emma has it all, Lydia wants it all.
What will she do to take it?
If you want a fast paced book that you don’t want to put down this is for you!
3.5⭐️

Thankyou for the opportunity to read this in advance!
I really enjoyed this twisty, fast paced book.
One incident narrated from two different point of views kept it moving but I felt the second half of the book seemed to drag a little more than the first which is unusual as it's usually the other way around.
I still had a fun time with it and would recommend it to anyone looking for a quick and easy read that entertains!

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
The Woman from Bookclub was a fun & twisty read 📚✨ The characters felt so vivid — Emma, Lydia, the twins — and even the smaller side characters were well written 👏 The beginning hooked me right away 🔥 though the second half slowed a bit. Still, secrets, drama & surprises made this a super entertaining read 🤫🔍
Thank you to NetGalley, the publisher & the author for the opportunity to read this one 💕

I loved this book! It is so fun. It is a cozy mystery with lots of references to different books the book club has read. I enjoyed all of the female relationships and how many things ended up different than they seemed.
Thank you to NetGalley for the ARC in exchange for my review.

I was instantly drawn to *The Woman From Bookclub* – a book with rules, secrets, and a murder at the centre of a women’s circle is exactly the kind of premise I love. Carrie Hughes sets it up brilliantly: Emma, the perfect wife with the glossy exterior, and Lydia, the newcomer with a hunger for more than friendship. The dual perspectives worked well for me, and I liked how the voices of Emma and Lydia felt distinct, even when you did not necessarily want to root for either of them.
The pacing is sharp, and I flew through it in just a couple of sittings. What stood out most was the way Hughes captured the tension of female friendships when envy, performance, and power creep in. There’s something deliciously voyeuristic about being inside both Emma’s carefully constructed life and Lydia’s scheming point of view. It gave the book a slightly unhinged energy that made me want to keep reading, even when I was frustrated by their choices.
There is a twist that, personally, I did not fully see coming – and while it was not the kind of jaw-drop I hoped for, it still added momentum to the story and kept me engaged through to the end. I will say the conclusion felt a little rushed for me, but that did not take away from the fact that this was a compulsive and entertaining read overall.
Even though parts of it did not land perfectly for me, I am so glad I picked it up and I cannot wait to read more from Hughes. Her writing has the kind of pace and bite that makes you want to reach for her next book straight away.
Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for the ARC.

Two women's different accounts of one event.
Intruiging, different and a good read. Would appeal to all adult ages and genders.

If you love juicy, reality TV–style drama, The Woman From Book Club is a fast, addictive read that’s hard to put down. The writing is simple and accessible, with plenty of twisty, dramatic moments that keep the pages turning. While the story can feel a bit repetitive at times, and the ending was a little frustrating, Emma’s journey is compelling and relatable. Perfect for fans of light thrillers and women-centered drama looking for a fun, binge-worthy read.
Thanks to NetGalley and Hera Books for this advanced copy in exchange for an honest review.

Two women, one man, one murder. Two wildly differing views on how it happened. It should have been a fast, entertaining read.
The problem arises with the fact that one of the characters is honestly so unlikable and a complete fantasist that she instantly switches from 'unreliably narrator' to a sociopath. Except not the fun, fictional ones you want to read about. Not even the ones you love to hate, yes I couldn't wait for her to get her comeuppance but reading her constantly trying to portray herself as a victim was just frustrating. I did however enjoy the fact that she thought she was clever and had people wrapped around her finger, only for the reader to learn that everyone had seen through her, almost instantly. I enjoyed that little bit of a twist.
The book is divided into three parts, and part one is the hardest because of some of the ridiculous choices and the sheer speed of how things happen. Once you hit part two however, the author seems to grow more confident and things take a turn for the better. I was much more invested in the plot for part two and enjoyed Emma's moments. She was an interesting character, a very skilfully crafted example of what non physical abuse can do to someone. I wanted her to come out on top and cheered for her to find a piece of happiness. Only for it to be taken away from her again.
The thing that kept me reading was trying to work out if the twins had inherited their father's behaviours and were abusers in the making or if they were simply teenagers with all their selfish flaws.
Then came the ending, which pushed it down to a two star read. I honestly thought that last scene with Lydia was all in her head or something but no, it was just a deeply unsatisfying ending that left the whole experience of reading it feeling as if I'd eaten something sour and the taste was lingering.

Thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for the opportunity to read this title before its release!
The Woman from Book Club follows Lydia & Emma's perspectives and their entangled stories. Reading each chapter was like watching a car crash in slow motion, unable to tear my eyes away but bracing for impact throughout. It held several predictable plot points and reveals, with the twists a bit underwhelming. It was a quick read!

The Woman From Book Club is a compulsive, dramatic thriller that draws you in from the very first page. With Emma at its core, arrested at a single book club gathering, it unspools into a tense story of betrayal, secrets, and power plays. The dual POV between Emma and the manipulative newcomer Lydia sustains a constant pull: you’re torn, intrigued, and, most of all; turned every page in just a weekend.
The prose is simple and accessible, yet it cleverly weaves intrigue and moral ambiguity, exactly what you want in a book that feels like a guilty pleasure binge. That said, some scenes repeat themselves, and the ending didn’t land quite as hard as I hoped, Emma’s final decision felt softened, tempering her emotional arc. But overall, the novel delivers what it promises: wit, drama, and women at the center of a deliciously twisted mystery. Highly recommended for fans of cozy domestic suspense and strong female ensemble dynamics. I really enjoyed this.

When Lydia sets her sights on Emma’s husband it looks like Emma’s perfect life is about to crumble.
Alternating between Lydia and Emma’s points of view gave a great twist to the book.
It’s hard to review this one without giving spoilers, but don’t mess with book club girls!
