Rulers of a Dead Planet seems like a spritely fun middle grade novel-in-verse, but the content is far from simplistic. While easy to read and understand, this novel addresses some interesting far-future aspects of what the Earth could become if humanity F's up too hard.
Featuring the perspective of two adolescent alien siblings, Nulara and Narvu of the Noburans, the novel explores the havoc nuclear war presents, as it is the cause of the end of Earth. The Noburan children explore a city in ruins, discussing how the planet was destroyed. They find a human child among the rubble. The Noburan leader finds that all humans should be destroyed, considering what they have done to they own planet, but after observing and getting to know the human child, the two siblings seek to protect what remains, knowing a light of hope may offer a new future with the youngster.

The content is cute and fun, but the idea of the Earth being destroyed by nuclear warfare is very real, an issue that more people should be concerned and aware of today. The perspective of aliens visiting Earth after such a detrimental event is a unique way to address the issue and kind of fun to speculate the thought of other beings seeing what we have done to ourselves, judging this other alien species they know nothing about.

Another fun book from Ryan Wolf. It's always a fun adventure with his novels, between the wholesome lessons, the paranormal, and the verse style. I can't wait to see what he comes up with next!

This worked well as a post-apocalyptic Earth element that I was wanting and enjoyed the overall feel of this world. I was engaged from start to finish and thought the overall feel to this world and how the characters were used in this. The characters were so well done and had that feel that I was wanting. Ryan Wolf has a strong writing style and can't wait for more.

Rulers of a Dead Planet looks at a post-apocalyptic Earth from the point of view of an alien child who crosses paths with a human child. It is an interesting perspective and I felt the author did a good job of helping us learn about the characters given the nature of this book.

This is written in prose and I don't usually read a lot to poetry, so it took me a few pages to get into the rhythm or feel of the writing. Once I did, it was easy to follow and a fun read that goes quickly. I really enjoyed the book and would recommend this to science fiction readers who want something different.
