What a fun way to share information with young readers! Games in My Lifetime is a picture book that depicts a brief history of games and toys through the story of two kids hanging out with their grandmother. Of course she’s got some stories to tell! I love the idea of sharing information in this way, as adding the spin of personal experience often helps with the learning process and helps young people commit things to memory. Think of all the things you know because “Back in my day…,” or “It didn’t used to be like that,” or even “Kids these days don’t know anything about…”
I love this. Looking forward to reading more from this series.

A quick history, delivered with speech bubbles and many decently small illustrations, of games and toys – or at least those than your gran might have lived through if you were a youngster here in 2025. She was born in 1959 so she's barely older than the Etch-a-Sketch and the first LEGO sets, but she's aware of what's led us through to where we are today, where board and card games still have appeal, but perhaps not the same kind as VR headsets and Wii controllers. Part of a small set of books that does the same regarding recent social history, this should be lauded for getting all the information across in one simple read, rather than the publisher's usual overly-bitty, caption-heavy style.

I received a copy of this eBook from netGalley for a honest review.

I like this series that looks at how things have changed in Nana's lifetime. This book is about how games have changed since the 1959. It gives a good look at what has happened and opens possibilities for the future of games.
