Lovely Recipe is an adorable queer foodie romance. I love the main characters and their slow burn romance throughout the story. Sofia is really struggling with the fact that her friends are leaving at the end of high school, but she isn't able to move far away for college. She sparks a friendship with her classmate Anna Marie, who helps her learn how to cook her late grandmother's recipes. This story combines the stress of growing up, the loss of family, and the development of romantic feelings in a sweet way (pun intended).

I really enjoyed the art in this and the conflict between Sofia and her mother. However, while the romance between Sofia and Anna Marie was cute enough, the constant wishy-washiness and lack of communication was more frustrating than anything. A lot of the actions felt pretty selfish at times too, which never fully got explored. A good but not great sapphic teen graphic novel. I wouldn't steer anyone away from it, but I don't know how often I'll recommend it.
