This was such a fun and educational book for kids. This will be great for inquisitive kids who want to know about everything around them. This was a great read.

Review from a 7 year old:
I learned a lot about the solar system. The pictures were really cool. My favorite planet is mars. I didn’t know there were so many different types of suns/stars.

This was informative and while there were places that I felt information was slightly misleading, for example, comparing the sun to a cloud that's on fire, it felt like an age appropriate comparison when taking into account the target audience is very young. I liked the organizational structure (starting at the sun and working outwards), the comparisons to earth to give context for size and time, and the historical references to namesakes and discoveries.
My one gripe involving this last category though was the choice to use the Venus de Milo for Venus, only to turn her around and only show her back to avoid seeing breasts. This could have been easily covered by a textbox explaining who she is while still showing her face; or a different piece of art could have been chosen. Additionally, slightly later, when we make it to the art of saturn, we get a statue depicting Saturn eating his infant child from the Summer Garden in Saint Petersburg. It was odd to me that the statue of Venus needed to be facing away, but we see Saturn biting a baby in his hands.
Complaints about the photos chosen aside, the book was informative and would make an excellent resource for middle elementary children learning about the solar system.
