Emily Austin is quickly becoming my favorite literary fiction writer. Is This a Cry for Help? is incredibly timely given the political climate and attitudes toward public libraries. I enjoyed Austin's exploration of complex grief and even complex experiences with sexuality and identity. The prose is as witty and gorgeous as ever, and I am excited to have this on our shelves.

Did not realize this book's genre is not one I read. Other reviewers who love this genre really enjoyed it, so I'm rating it based on their feedback.

I adore this book! Darcy is such a character! The themes in this book are very relatable to our current times as well. I found myself laughing and smiling at the humorous parts, nodding my head at the controversial parts, and relating to the themes of grief/loss/mental struggles. This is a very lighthearted book that is very enjoyable to read and wallet relates to things that are currently going on in our country, it’s still felt like an enjoyable escape from my everyday life.

Emily Austin does it again with a great and thoughtful book. As a gay librarian it was wonderful to read about another gay librarian and to learn in some way we are not alone in our beliefs. I really enjoyed this one and gave it 4.5/5 stars. Thank you to Netgalley and the publisher for the opportunity to read this book.
