Eos" is not just the dawn of a new series; it's the beginning of the end, and honestly, you'd be a complete idiot to miss it.
🚀 Pacing
Buckle up. The story zips along at breakneck speed, just like that asteroid. There's never a dull moment, keeping you hooked from start to finish.
🤝 Characters
Meet Semmi: part street urchin, part genius, all sass. She’s navigating a world that's literally ending, making her a hero you can actually root for.
☄️ Plot
A giant asteroid is coming, and the rich people are leaving. It’s a classic disaster movie, but with more political intrigue and a teenager trying to outsmart everyone.
🌊 World-building
Forget everything you know about Atlantis. Nazarian makes it a high-tech, class-divided society on the brink of apocalypse. It's a fresh take that feels both ancient and futuristic.
💥 Themes
This book asks, "When the world is ending, what's worth fighting for?" It explores hope, survival, and the fight for justice when the deck is stacked against you.
Huge thanks to NetGalley for the copy! My only regret is that I can't read it for the first time again."

Having read The Atlantis Grail series previously, I was so happy to see a prequel series and had to request this instantly. Being at the start of this journey and seeing life before was a dream. This author writes with such detail that you are fully immersed in the day to day of the characters. I was concerned as its new characters, but very quickly came to be as connected and obsessed with them as with the other series. I love the family dynamics, exploration of class and the unique magic this author brings to all her work. The plot is expansive and built up to high stakes action. The romance subplot is slow-burn and creeps up on you in the best way. I devoured this large book in two days. Cannot wait for more. If you like high-stakes, immersive worlds and fleshed out characters then this is a fantasy for you. Thank you to the publisher and NetGalley for a copy. This is a voluntary review of my own thoughts.

What hole have I been living in, that I haven’t heard of Vera Nazarian? Check out her latest novel, Eos, which is the first in a prequel series to the Atlantis Grail series. Eos follows Semmi, our courageous, clumsy, and irresistibly relatable heroine, as she fights to find a way to save her family from an impending end-of-the-world threat from the gods. While the story may take the usual twists and turns you would expect from a story like this; danger, brave men saving the day, evil characters lurking in the shadows and in broad daylight; there are many other facets to this story that you just won’t see coming. Kind and caring to those around her, Semmi is quick to jump to action while also being humble enough to except help when needed. She quickly becomes someone you can relate to, helping to draw us into her world and all the chaos that unfolds.
While set on Earth, Semmi’s world is in Ancient Atlantis, with the city set up in favour of the elite though fate still favours those bold or brave enough to skirt the rules. Moving through the various areas of the city, from the most elite to the lowest and humblest areas, Semmi navigates all in her quest for a path to freedom.

This is a very well written book, Nazarian has honed her craft magnificently. Holy! This is the perfect book to settle down under a nice blanket and read, the writing is vivid with description and every single thing had been thought out. For me it was a bit over written in places, where things like a simple bus ride took multiple pages to describe. Especially as this is a prequel to an already published series, I do feel we didn't need as much information as we got.

On first impression, being the first 10% of the book, the characters and the family dynamic where well written. Then we are introduced to the setting of the story and the focal point of the plot (or what I could gather was the focal point) - of the impending end of the earth, and the possibility of only some escaping it. This plot intro led to the understanding of class based populations and a hint of trials and games, in order for lower class to escape with upper class. This part of the story was very intriguing to me. We are also introduced to a sort of magic system that is used as energy for technology and other tools and commodities, as well as powering their civilization. As I read on the story got lost in overabundant descriptions, taking pages and pages to describe the same setting, and at one point I had to skip past the descriptions of every high class lord that entered the room as they were described in detail. But still I pressed on, thinking that I still had not read far enough to give the book a chance at getting to the initial purpose of what I thought was the plot. At 50%, I decided that I had to give up. There was no movement towards the original dynamic of saving themselves from the destruction of earth. I loved the premise of this book, and the thought up names and uses of made up words to express cursing, was clever, but there was just not enough emphasis on the plot of the story and development to keep me interested. I appreciate @NetGalley for giving me the opportunity to read this story and give an honest opinion of my review and for @NorilanaBooks for same.

I was so so so excited to get a copy of this book! The Atlantis Grail series is one of my all time favourites and so I was excited to get lost in the world again! Eos is such a treat and did not disappoint!. Vera Nazarian takes us back to Atlantis, but this time through the eyes of Semmi, a girl just trying to protect her little brother and survive in a society that feels stacked against her. Right from the start you can feel the stakes, and it only pulls you in deeper as her path crosses with the mysterious Man in the Niktos Cloak. He’s the kind of character you can’t stop thinking about, and watching their stories slowly intertwine is so satisfying.
What I really loved was seeing everyday life in Atlantis. The original series focused a lot on the Imperial elite, but here we get to explore the struggles, hopes, and hidden talents of people just trying to make it through. It makes the world feel alive in a totally different way, and the attention to detail is incredible. Add in Pegasus lore, court intrigue, and the looming disaster hanging over Atlantis, and it’s impossible not to keep turning the pages.
And of course, Vera does romance like no one else. The slow burn is everything. No insta-love, just a steady, natural build with real chemistry that makes you root for the characters all the way.
Eos is fast-paced, emotional, and packed with stunning world-building. Whether you’ve read The Atlantis Grail or are brand new to this universe, you can jump right in and enjoy it. I had so much fun with this one and can’t wait to see where the series goes next.
Thank you to Net Galley and Vera for the free copy of the book in exchange for an honest review.

grateful to NetGalley and the publisher for granting me this ARC.
this was such an amazing read, i can’t quite find the words to express my feelings about it. incredible world building, fleshed-out characters and a fun but high stakes plot. i’m eager to read the original series and can’t wait for book two of this one!

I loved this book. Totally forgot about the references of Semiram and Arlenari in Survive, so had to reread it. Can't wait for the next book in this series.

An amazing and enthralling story of love and survival in a fantasy realm! I can’t wait for the next one!

Fantasy world-building at its finest. I was excited to see a new book by Vera Nazarian after thoroughly enjoying The Atlantis Grail series starting with Qualify. The connection to that series is also really cool to see, and I think either series could be read first. Eos is full of rich details of an incredible world and a compelling plot it really pulls you in.
What to know before reading: This series read more adult to me than The Atlantis Grail series. Mentioned in the description, one of the plot points is a noble man who runs an OnlyFans type show. I didn't fully understand that's what is was from the description so that may be helpful to note. If this book were a movie, it would likely be rated R, maybe PG-13 if the intimate scenes weren't viewable.
What I liked: Vera's heroines are plucky, quirky in the most relatable way possible and fascinating. Combine that with world building that makes you feel like you're living in another world and you've got a good book.
Spice: 2/5 🌶️, OnlyFans type show with description but not super detailed
Rating: 3.75-4

This was a strong start to the Dawn of the Atlantis Grail series, it had that element that I was looking for from the description. The characters were so well written and enjoyed the overall feel of them in this world and how the characters were used in this. I was hooked from the "mysterious vigilante meets Scheherazade in high-tech Ancient Atlantis" and this entry didn't disappoint. Vera Nazarian does a fantastic job in writing this book and am excited for more in this series and glad I got to read this.

Eos, the first book in the Dawn of the Atlantis Grail series, a new prequel series to The Atlantis Grail, brings us the story of Ancient Atlantis before fleeing the Earth. If you haven't read the original series, you can 100% read this one and still understand everything. Vera Nazarian writes with an insane level of detail and world-building (that I happen to love!), so you won't be missing any information or have any confusion whatsoever. That being said, I also highly recommend the original as its been one of my all-time favorite series.
This series brings us the story of Semirameos, or Semmi, who is poor and desperate for a way off the planet. She must use everything at her disposal to save herself and her little brother Uru.
I loved a lot about this book. The worldbuilding, which Vera never disappoints with, being the main. I liked that we did a deep dive into life for the everyday Atlanteans. The original series focused a lot on the Imperial Kassiopei, so it was interesting to find out more about the dynamics of the Lords and regular people that serve them in this book. Furthermore, I loved the focus on Pegasai.
The Man in the Niktos Cloak was a well rounded MMC, and I can't wait to see more of his story. We learn a lot about his past and what he plans for the future.
I'm a sucker for a sloooooooow burn, and Vera is so good at them. One thing I always appreciate about this world is that the main characters have a very long, very natural progression from strangers to in-love. No insta-love, just mutual compassion and some pining.
My main critique is that because I have consumed the Atlantis Grail series so many times, I see way too many similarities in the FMCs. Semmi and Gwen share many character traits.
• Semmi is not educated, but she's mature, as she's had to help her family survive by maintaining jobs most of her life.
• Gwen is extremely educated, but she's not as mature, more high-schooly due to being boy-obsessed.
• They both are hot headed and loud-mouthed, shy when it comes to relationships, and focused on saving their siblings. They have clever solutions to problems, and somehow charms their way into all facets of high society. Basically, I felt like I was reading the same character in an uneducated font. That being said, I do think Semmi's maturity makes her a bit better than Gwen, in my opinion. However, Gwen has the more interesting plot when comparing book 1 to book 1.
Another small critique, I love worldbuilding, but I feel like this book was extremely long, with not a lot going on. Almost like a prequel to the prequel. I imagine the excitement will pick up further in the series, but the trials weren't as interesting as the original, and many scenes felt long and unnecessary (party entrance introductions, the Man in the Niktos Cloak filming, market shopping, and repetition in public transportation scenes to name some off the top of my head). Could have done with some editing down or an increase in pacing, as I don't think many non-TOG fans could get through all 726 pages.
All that being said, I still loved this book. Vera once again transported us into the Atlantean world, and I'm thoroughly invested in Semmi's future.
Im Atlantean sen-i-senet
will always be my favorite people!
