It took me a bit of time to really get into this book but once I did it was fantastic. It began too similar to Beauty and the Beast for my liking as it felt like a carbon copy. Once you get into the second half however, the book really becomes it's own and shines. The characters are fun, it's witty and a quick read. I found myself really loving the story and curious where it will go.

I read this one back in March with a few friends, although most of them enjoyed it I felt it was a little lacking and the dialogue used a bit cringe. The guys were a bit two dimensional but none the less had a good time with the plot and story and I enjoyed the FMC. I am still debating whether I want to continue the series as I heard it gets better as it goes along.

This book did NOT start off strong. It was a copy paste of Disney’s Beauty and the Beast, and I mean literal exact word for word phrases (um, copyright?).
However, I persevered. It takes A LOT for me to DNF, particularly short books like this one and it did get better.
Is this book groundbreaking and a literary masterpiece? Absolutely not. However, the author’s writing has potential and so does the series overall. Once it took a step away from the B&B storyline and started to branch into its own (Below Prince, Thorns obeying her etc), the book picked up for me.
Look, I’d never say this is a phenomenal bit of writing. But if you can get past the first third, it does become enjoyable enough to read and I sped through it in a few hours.
