I loved this book! The story was filled with so many sweet moments and I loved the faith aspects in this book!

Wonderful and Captivating
Wow! This wonderful story was quite the emotional roller coaster ride. It had me frustrated, laughing, reflecting, soul-searching, and even almost in tears.
First of all, Hen is quite the character. She is not your typical Plain woman, and although I could understand where she was coming from, I initially found her a bit abrasive. Her father, the Bishop, didn't exactly help. While his intentions were understandable, his delivery wasn't. And because Hen didn't quite fit the mold of typical, her actions and reactions often had her and her dad at odds.
Enter Nicholas, who is not a typical Plain man. The funny thing is that the non-typical Plain man and non-typical Plain woman are so much alike in some ways that they initially butt heads. However, little by little, time and circumstances change that, and their deeply caring natures take over. Their journey results in a beautiful and moving story of love, faith, family, and the importance of reflecting on how our spiritual life beliefs and commitments play into our life decisions and God's will, all of which makes this wonderful and captivating story one that I highly recommend.

A Daughter’s Choice: Heart of the Amish #1
Kelly Irvin
Henrietta Miller is a young Amish woman; she is unmarried and goes against the norm. She loves animals about all else. Her father the bishop is frustrated by her; he doubts she will ever find a husband. Her father is so frustrated he has become harsh with her. She wants to start her own business making and selling products such as soap and snacks make from goat’s milk. It takes money to start a business, so she applies for a job as a veterinarian assistant.
Nicholas Byler a Vet Tech gets the job. He is a young Amish man, in the area to care for her grandfather who has dementia. Nicholas is questioning his decision to become a Veterinary.
Henrietta thinks the job is stolen from her. She isn’t happy that he is treating her animals; he acts as if he knows more about her animals than she does. She turns to her business of goat products: soap, snacks, goat’s milk and wool. Her aunt sees the perfect couple in Nicholas and Henrietta and tries to do a little matchmaking.
I quickly fell in love with the characters in this tale. I found myself in tears. This is a beautifully written tale filled with feelings/emotions. The romance between Nicholas and Henriett is sweet romance. A devastating event brought tears to my eyes. The Amish community offer great support. The main characters are interesting and likable. Henrietta never slowed down; she was full of energy. She and Nicholas were perfect for each other. I didn’t like the way Henrietta’s father reacted to her. I felt he was too harsh but she was going against the traditional ways of the Amish.
This is the first book in the Heart of the Amish series.
I received a digital copy of A Daughter’s Choice from NetGalley for review purposes. My reviews are my unbiased opinions.

Loved reading the inspirational and awesome romance story. When Hen meets Nicholas, the new vet assistant, at first, Hen's upset because Nicholas got the position she wanted, but as she gets to know Nicholas, she starts to like him. Read the highly recommended, wonderfully written, and a must read riveting story.

The Heart of the Amish is one of my favourite series to date and I relish the opportunity to read each new book. A DAUGHTER’S CHOICE by Kelly Irvin was a beautifully touching story about finding love and acceptance through the reaffirmation of faith and family.
Henrietta and Nicholas were interesting characters and my heart went out to both of them. I especially had a soft spot for Hen. She was an incredible ball of energy and light and at one point watching that light be diminished broke my heart. But as with all truly uplifting reads, both she and Nicholas found their way to each other and happily ever after.
I’m giving A DAUGHTER’S CHOICE the judy.ann.loves.books stamp of approval, TBR and Enjoy.

The main female character, was like a fresh air , to a rather strict amish community. If it was just a rating about the female Main character i would give this book 4 star. But for me the story felt a little bit too predictable, though a comfortable read. Thank you to netgalley for letting me read this e arc in exchange for an honest opinion

A daughter’s Choice was a lovely sweet story that pulls you in from the beginning. Wonderful characters with non traditional views, working through them with Faith, Family and Prayers to find love and acceptance with each other. If you love sweet wholesome Christian Romances this is the book for you. Thank you to #NetGalley and #BarbourPublishing for this Arc. This is my honest review. Releases Nov 1, 2025

One of my favorite authors has written one of my favorite novels. I had grown tired of some Amish novels, but as usual, Ms Irvin pulled me right back in to enjoying them again.
I loved Hen, her heart for animals drew me in immediately. My heart broke for her when her father made her spending more time in the house and less time with her beloved animals.
I liked most of the characters, felt they seemed realistic and they held my interest, too. I’m hoping to read more from this author in the near future.
Highly recommend to readers of both Amish and Christian fiction.
My thanks to the publisher and Netgalley for the copy.

The cover for this book is just so adorable!!
I don't know why but towards the end of this story I started calling Hen Hen Pen not sure why. She's a stubborn one that's for sure and certain!!!
I sure did NOT like Hen's father!! Wow I felt he wasn't fair to my girl at all!! I wanted to tell him off!! In fact, I did in my mind lol.
For some reason I really liked Nicholas. He grew on me.
I did admire him for trying to work and take care of his grandpa.
Moses made me laugh too and sometimes sad.
in my opinion, Hen and Nicholas made a cute couple lol. They were both too stubborn for their own good! They also made me laugh too.
I got such a kick out of this story. It was just perfect for a 2 am Sunday read!! Im highly satisfied with how this turned out.
5 stars from me for a job well done!
My thanks for a copy of this sweet story. I was NOT required to write a positive review. All opinions expressed are mine.

Perfect for fans of of Amish fiction, inspirational fiction, and clean romance. Kelly Irvin brings her characters to life with and weaves so many biblical truths throughout her writings. Readers will fall in love with the characters and be drawn into the story of Henrietta and Nicholas as they grow in their faith and learn what dying to self really means...dying to self and surrender to Gods will. They will learn that in surrender Joy really does come with the morning and that's God's ways and plans are so much greater and sweeter than anything we could ever hope for.

Henrietta (Hen) is an odd Plain woman whose love for animals overrides her love of housework. Nicholas is an odd Painter man, who wants to become a veterinarian. Trouble is he would have to leave the church to do so. Overall these too are a good match. Fun watching them pair up and get closer. A nice Amish romance and one I highly recommend,

Kelly Irvin has written another 5 star book. Such a sweet read with real life issues that keeps the characters on their toes as they try and figure out what is best for them. Filled with matchmaking and second guessing their decisions of what they want in life, I found this to be fun read.
I was given a complimentary copy of this book from the author. All words are my own.

Henrietta Miller loved taking care of her goats and their kids along with a passel of other animals on their Amish Pennsylvania farm. Hen made the goats milk into cheese, yogurt, candy and soap and sold it tothe tourists at a good profit.
The familys' Morgan, Jack, hadn't eaten or pooped in 2 days ad had trouble in his intestines. Hen's Dad, had contacted the local veterinarian and sent his new assistant to their house, he was tall, with a pale complexion and his name was Nicolas Byler. Nicholas took Jacks' temperature, listened to his digestive system and then told Bishop Miller and Hen to soak Jacks' hay and give him beet pulp and that they could obtain pain medication from Dr. McDonald. Hens' Father, Bishop Miller, told Nicholas he could eat breakfast with them, but Hen was upset, she had applied for the vet assistant job and she did not like the fact that Nicholas was a know-it-all in her eyes.
Hen's world was about to change, her sister Ruby was going to be the substitute teacher for their school and Hen would have to do the housework and stay in the house while her brothers and little sister took care of the goats - Hen was hurt and felt like her feelings didn't matter.
Then her sweet Aunt Ginny came to visit to help Ruby get prepared for her wedding and secretly help Hen learn housekkeeping tasks so she could marry someday.
Then Nicholas and his sister Lenora needed help, his Grandfather with dementia refused to take his medications and had locked himself in his shed - Hen thought if she suggested he could sketch up some plans for a goat shed for her goats he might come out - and he did!

What a great read to get lost in, and a page turner it became. We are with a young Amish women, unmarried, and non-traditional, at least according to her Bishop father. He figures she will never marry, and does she even know how to keep house?
Enter a Vet Tech, a young Amish man, whom is visiting the community to take care of his Grandfather, he has Alzheimer, and he is also struggling with his desires to become a Veterinary.
What a journey, filled with lots of emotions, and memories. We have some sweet romance, and some devastating happenings, but a strong community that pulls together.
The last few pages of this read has so much happening, and we wonder the outcome for these people that we now care for.
You don't want to miss this one!
