This was a very enjoyable historical fiction book! The story was very easy to read but packed full of emotion!

This is a solid start to a new series. I love the friendship between the girls, and it is easy to adore the children. This gives readers a delightful look into an English nanny's life in the 1960s.

This book was a very enjoyable read and filling Jenny in her journey was what I enjoyed the most .Pam Weaver writes with such compassion and empathy in her characters. I think that the west end nannies were an inspiration for anyone wanting to become a nanny as it shows how much a difference these women make in a child’s young life .Thank you #HeraBooks and #NetGalley for allowing me to read this book .Reviewed on #Goodreads and #Amazon.

What a lovely story! The author cleverly intertwines each chapter with a well-known song, taking you back to that era.
The narrative follows Jenny Lamar, who is training to be a nanny while also grappling with the anxiety of her mother abruptly leaving the family. The story flowed beautifully and kept me engaged throughout. I enjoyed reading every page, eagerly anticipating what would happen next. I'm definitely looking forward to the second book.

Thanks to the Publisher and Netgalley for an early review copy.
The story starts in 1962. We meet Jenny who is travelling to start training to be a nanny.
Jenny meets others at the children’s home and she is a kind, brave character, in the home at the home, and in her personal life. I enjoyed reading about how her life is different between both places..
I recommend this book.

Jenny Bernice and Rita are training to be Nannies they love it even the hardwork it involves as Matron is tough.
Jenny hasn’t a great home life her brother makes everyone’s life a misery and she’s still suffering the loss of her mother and her sudden disappearance.
In the times of the swinging sixties Jenny gets her first position in London’s west end but the more money they make the more they neglect their children what can Jenny do her own family needs saving as well.
Brilliantly written loved this book highly recommended.

This is the first book in the West End Nannie’s series.Jenny is training to be a nanny at Harefield House Nurseries where she shares a room with two other girls and has
a very strict Matron. Her family life is not good as her mum has just packed her bags and left and nobody will tell her why.Her brother Maurice is no good ,Roger was off doing his National Service in Cyprus and sister Sally was having to get married early as she was pregnant.Life is not going well for Jenny but then thing start to look up for her.Thank you to Netgalley and Hera Books.

The west end Nannie’s, another great read by Pam weaver. Set in the 60’s it follows the lives of Jenny and her family and the other girls training to be Nannie’s, first in a nursery/orphanage then onto her first job as a private nanny. A great story with great characters can’t wait to read more.

Pam Weaver’s The West End Nannies is an utterly captivating novel that immerses you in the bustling streets of London during the early 20th century. Set in the vibrant and ever-changing world of the West End, this novel follows a group of nannies who find themselves at the crossroads of personal ambition, romance, and the challenges of their demanding profession.
Pam's attention to historical detail is impressive, creating an atmosphere that feels both authentic and engaging.
What makes this novel so gripping, however, are the characters. Each nanny is brought to life with warmth and depth, their personal struggles and dreams making them instantly relatable. The friendships and rivalries between them are incredibly well developed, and it’s easy to become emotionally invested in their stories. The drama and intrigue of their lives, both in and out of the nursery, kept me hooked from the very first page.
Pam skilfully blends heart warming moments with the tough realities of the time, giving a balance of joy and poignancy. It’s one of those books that you won’t want to put down, and I found myself reading well into the night, eager to see what would happen next. The twists and turns of the plot kept me on the edge of my seat, and by the end, I was thoroughly satisfied — though I can't wait to see where Pam takes these characters next.

It's 1962 and we join Jenny on her training to be a nanny - I loved this book, most of the historical fiction I read is set much earlier so it was a delight to learn more about life in the 60's.
I adored Jenny, she was such a great lead character, smart, brave and kind, supported by fabulous side character, in the others at the children's home, and in her personal life. I even enjoyed the less popular characters, who all added to the story.
The balance between the chaos of Jenny's family life, and the structure of work was well done - we got snippets of day to day life for Jenny, intercepted with trying to sort out her ratbag brother, and find her missing mum. The mystery aspect was enjoyable.
I also enjoyed reading about Jenny's time as a nanny, but must admit, I didn't want her to leave the children's home as I was finding it so enjoyable. The nursery rhymes at the start of each chapter were another welcome addition.
Well written, cosy and a joy to read.

This is another lovely saga by Pam Weaver, a brilliant start to a new series! I absolutely loved it. Looking forward to the next one already!

A lovely story about nannies set in the 1960’s. Lots of likeable characters and interesting insights into daily life in the 60’s.

What a relaxing read, I recommend it.
Jenny decides to start her training at Harefield House Nursery to be a nanny. Jenny quickly makes friends with some of the other girls which is a plus as Matron is no pushover. The children in her care help to ease her homesickness, especially her longing for her mum.
On her time off she goes home to see her father Neville who is suffering at the hands of her nasty brother Maurice. This takes away the pleasure of the visit. What hold could Maurice have over Neville? When Jenny visits her uncle Bill & aunt Caroline ( who sound delightful) no one is prepared to divulge any secrets.
When Jenny goes off to sit her final exams she is sidetracked by someone in need, could this have an adverse effect on the outcome?
Really enjoyed this book. Favourite character was Jenny who put others first. least favourite was matron who took slight for minor/or no reason. Enjoyed the opening headers to each chapter which jogged memories, especially character 30. Already looking forward to the next one.

I enjoyed this as a opening chapter and am excited to read more in this universe, and how the characters felt like they belonged in this world and setting. This was a strong start to the West End Nannies series, it had that historical fiction element that I was looking for and was engaged with what was happening. I was engaged from the start and really glad I got to read this. Pam Weaver wrote this well and was engaged from the first page, it left me wanting to read the next chapter and whatever comes out from Pam Weaver.

A very easy read as it is a bit predictable. The story flowed well and was quick to read. It really shone a light on the treatment of women in the early 1960s. Not my favourite from this author but that is probably because of the era in which it is set.

I really loved this story set in an era I remember vividly. Every chapter either had the title of the pop record out that month or a child's nursery rhyme. This brought back lots of memories as it mentioned the Big Freeze of 1962/1963. The children were lovely in this story. They were either waiting for a visit from their parents or waiting to be adopted. My thanks to netgalley and the publishers for giving me the opportunity to read this book in return for an honest review.

It's their dream job ,
But do they have what it takes.
1962
And Jenny Lamar takes on her nanny training at Harefield House.
A had going training that involves more than looking after the children with household chores to do.
As we go through the years known as the swinging sixties every chapter has a well known song as it heading that brings back memories.
I loved reading this story and hopefully will get more about the nannies in future books.

After reading this I can tell that this is going to be a good series. It has drama and the relationships between the girls shows a delicate camaraderie. I loved the children they are just the sweetest and my heart instantly warmed to them and their plights. I enjoyed how Jenny unknowingly paid her brother back.lol. The book was a joy to read.

A delightful look at England in the 1960s and the world of private Nannies. Pam Weaver delivers as always, and I can’t wait for the next one!

oh Pam Weaver we do love you. i thank your talent and your little gifts of stories every single day. and here we have another gift in the form of this book and story. every time i get to read one of Pam's books i smile. i know im in the best hands, i know i shall love it, and i know ill come away somehow feeling better.
this had all the things we want from a book like this. the heart, the emotions, the plot and pacing. it was all woven together in exactly the right ways.
we've also got the family saga vibe.
we of course have that main character or set of who we fall in love with reading about.
and then the side characters we also love getting to know whether they are good or bad!
there are tense moments and moments you feel more heightened.
there are those soft, tender and gentle moments.
there is the snippets into the lives of the characters that are just written so well.
there is the story, a great one to get immersed into.
another fab book. you didn't really need to ask whether it would be did you? its Pam!
