Thank you to NetGalley and Hermana Books for an e-arc of this book!
I always love a good Hades x Persephone retelling and this one delivers high on their romance but in a new way.
22 years ago, Hades sentenced a wicked powerful mage. One who did not take it kindly. As revenge, she cursed Hades wife and true love, Persephone to disappear and be reborn, in a new life with no memories of who she was: a goddess in her own right.
Flash forward and Sephy has grown up believing she is a witch, having to hide in society because witches were hunted by the Gods in a war of revenge once Persephone was taken from Hades. The Gods took over running the world with relative prosperity except for the witches who hide in secret. Now, Sephy hunts demons that escape from the Underworld and she can’t stand the Gods. She doesn’t know she’s Persephone reincarnated and she herself is a Goddess.
Hades wants her back. He knows deep down their soul bond is still there and she will love him back too. He kidnaps her to the Underworld in hopes of bringing her love back to him. But Persephone is even feistier than she was her previous life and can’t stand Hades. On top of that, other Gods are stepping forward in hopes to win her hand to marry them instead.
Behind the scenes of the romance story going on, the Gods are also being targeted by a rebel group, with obviously signs of having help from a fellow God, but who? That’s the mystery. And this underlying plot will continue into the next book.
This story has so much YEARNING, it melted my heart! I absolutely adored Hades because he’s just this typical clueless man who wants his woman but doesn’t know how to woo her. lol.
We also have some great found family with the other gods of the Underworld and other overall Gods. I absolutely adored them all. This is set in modern time, so to have the Gods in today’s society can be fun to read.
The spice. 🌶️ Whew 🥵 it’s slow burn but BOY when it burns, it BURRRRNS! Shadow daddy Hades is all I’m gonna say 🥵🥵🥵
This is the end of Hades x Persephone’s story but is part of a 3 part series of interconnected stories. The next book is going to follow Posideon, with the third I assume will be Zeus. I’m excited for Posideon’s story. I think he’s gonna be a fun as hell MMC. Like, even grumpier than Hades 😂

Thank you to Helena M Craggs and NetGalley for the opportunity to review this book.
A Hades and Persephone retelling with an urban twist? Yes please!!! Hades and Persephone is one of my favorite story, and so I was thrilled when this book popped up on my radar. While I will say this not the most original storyline (think A Touch of Darkness and The Hades Trials), I still enjoyed it nevertheless. I enjoyed that this was a story about Persephone losing her memory and having to rediscover herself vs her first meeting with Hades. I also really enjoyed the storyline surrounding the other gods, and I"m looking forward to the next book in the series. Overall, a solid, easy read without too much complicate world building, and something other fans of Greek mythology retellings will enjoy.

Thank you to NetGalley and Hermana Books for providing me with an ARC in exchange for an honest review.
I really enjoyed this story – a fresh and unique retelling of Greek mythology. It felt new, modern, and captivating, while still keeping the magic of the myths alive. The way the gods and their kingdom were reimagined was such a treat – it was exciting to meet familiar deities in a new light and see their roles woven into the story in such a creative way.
The plot pulled me in quickly, and I loved the strong FMC at the center of it all, as well as the grumpy, arrogant shadow daddy whose every scene made the tension even sharper. Their dynamic definitely kept me turning the pages!
At times, the miscommunication between Persephone and Hades was a bit frustrating. I often found myself wishing they would just sit down and talk things through like adults. I also wished the book had been longer, with certain impressions or scenes described in more depth. I didn’t want it to end so quickly!
There are a few spicy scenes sprinkled in, and the slow burn between them finally explodes in the most satisfying way.
Overall, it was a captivating and refreshing read, and I would happily recommend it to anyone who enjoys mythology-inspired fantasy romances with spice, a strong FMC, and a grumpy, arrogant shadow daddy you can’t help but root for.

Many thanks to NetGalley and Hermana books for providing me with this ARC.
This books offers a urban retelling of the hades and Persephone myth, which I found interesting and enjoyable overall. The modern setting adds a unique twist to a classical tale. I’m curious to see how the story will continues in the further installments of the series. In particular the storyline about the mysterious Ixiom group.
While I enjoyed the concept and characters, some chapters felt a bit to short, which disrupted the pace a bit. For example the competition for Persephone’s hand felt a bit rushed and could have used some more depth in storytelling to make it a bit more exciting.
Still I think the storyline has a lot of potential, and I’m looking forward to seeing how this series unfolds.

The premise had me instantly—Hades & Persephone with an urban twist? Yes, please.
The dynamic leans into the “he falls first” trope, with an ancient god captivated by a stubborn FMC who refuses to bend easily. The romance is fast-blooming, almost with a youthful energy that contrasts with the darker mythological setup. It may not have hit the exact tone I was expecting, but the sparks and drama kept me turning the pages.
While I found myself wishing for a bit more originality in certain elements, I still enjoyed the fast-paced romance, but it just not hit me that hard.

I love hades and Persephone retellings! This was pretty good! However, it really lacked originality. It was another retelling that once again pulled from Hades Trials and A touch of Darkness. For example, like in A touch of darkness and other copycats, Hades owned a night club, You can't tell me that you couldn't of another profession for him.
Overall, if there was more originality then this would be a five star easily, but left as is it's written like the author did a book report of the previous retellings.
