An informative book on block printing with a lot of information about the authors' visits to India. It makes this title a part how-to book and also something of a travel journal. As someone who reads a lot of folklore and history books, it would be nice to see the names of the people in the photos instead of a generic caption - it just provides a little more identity to the craftsperson especially since the authors are not of the same culture. This book does not show readers how to create their own blocks, but provides links to the authors' website for purchasing blocks which makes jumping into the projects presented not immediately accessible.

This is a great introductory book to block printing; the high-quality photos make it an excellent gift for anyone who's crafty!

Thanks so much to NetGalley for the free Kindle book. My review is voluntarily given, and my opinions are my own.
This is a wonderful book for anyone who loves working with fabric paint and rubber stamps. This is something I would love to do, but I have zero crafting skills. Really wish I did, though. The book is filled with instructions and tons of ideas for different projects, like tote bags, towels, and tablecloths.
Definitely would recommend!

Indian Block Printing teaches readers how to cultivate calm, confidence, and joy in any timeframe, and with any space that they have available to them. This is taught through the beloved art form of Block Printing, of course. This is a UK based artist’s take on an Indian tradition. The history of the medium, as well as details on their own travels to India, are teased at in the introduction, and expounded upon sprinkled throughout the text. To go along with this, images are shared not just on the block carving process, but of artisans throughout India, both directly related to their company and otherwise. Along with instructions, the authors include sections on common mistakes, as well as understanding your results. They also include step by steps on completing specific projects such as an “Initial Tote Bag” and more!
This is definitely a personal look into these specific artists life and their business in conjunction with lessons on the craft. The writing is kept simple. This is an overall fantastic guide for someone of casual interest, or a beginner in this format. It makes for a very easy read.
