I thought this book was excellent! It was a nail-biter for sure. I was in full detective mode and I still couldn't figure of the ending. What a surprise ending. Highly recommend.

Many thanks for my gifted copy.

Great story based on a single mum and her 15 year old son who end up embroiled in uncovering a kidnapping and supporting the young mum found. But all is not as it seems and as the story unfolds, it keeps you turning the pages. Great storyline and characters. A fab read

Behind a Locked Door is an unsettling, gripping psychological thriller that kept me hooked from the first page. Sarah A. Denzil delivers a tense and twisty story that explores secrets, lies, and the terrifying consequences of opening the wrong door.
The story follows Lucy Foster, whose life takes a shocking turn when she visits an old friend and hears a baby crying behind a locked cellar door. What she discovers—a terrified teenage girl and a newborn hidden away—completely shatters her world. From that moment on, Lucy becomes tangled in a dangerous web of secrets, public scrutiny, and fear. As the media frenzy grows and the town begins to turn against her, she realises that someone is watching her closely… and they’ll do anything to stop her from helping the girl in the cellar.
I really enjoyed how the tension builds throughout the book. Denzil’s writing creates an atmosphere of dread that lingers on every page, and I found myself constantly questioning who to trust. Lucy is a well-developed character, and I liked how her emotions—her shock, fear, and determination—felt authentic. The pacing is strong, with plenty of twists that kept me invested, though a couple of them were slightly predictable.
What stood out to me was the exploration of morality—how far someone is willing to go to uncover the truth and help others, even when it puts their own life in danger. The darkness of the story, combined with the emotional weight of what Lucy uncovers, made this a compelling and thought-provoking read.
While I didn’t give it a full five stars—mostly because there were a few slower moments and I guessed one of the major reveals early on—it’s still a fantastic read. If you enjoy dark, suspenseful stories with secrets buried deep, Behind a Locked Door is absolutely worth picking up.

This was a really good domestic thriller. A wee bit different to some of the run of the mill thrillers that I have read recently, some truly twisted characters! This is the first book I've read by this author and I will definitely be checking out some of her previous books. Very enjoyable read.

Wow!! This is the first book I have read by Sarah A. Denzil and it definitely won’t be my last.

Lucy is just a simple schoolteacher trying to raise her teenage son Theo while her ex and father of her son is in prison for drug related activities. Lucy finds herself in a situation when she finds a girl locked away. Alice is saved but is now finding anyway to have Lucy in her life. You feel bad for this girl but you can never trust a person by the outside. Strange things start to happen to Lucy after finding Alice and her son Theo is now getting dragged into the craziness. People start dying when they get close to finding out the truth about Alice. Is it Alice or this mystery man that is threatening Lucy. This book literally has you wrapped around its finger, the whole book I was just on the edge of my seat to try to figure out who this mystery man that is stalking poor Lucy. This is definitely a must read

I received this arc copy from NetGalley for my own honest opinion

Another great book by Sarah Denzil! Full of suspense and mystery with a few good twists. I discovered the mystery person a little too early but aside from that it was a fabulous read.

Thank you to NetGalley and Victory Editing for this ARC.

Wow! I was absolutely gripped from start to finish—I’m not ashamed to admit I devoured this in one sitting.

Behind a Locked Door is a fast-paced, suspenseful thriller that had me hooked from the very beginning. The writing was strong, and I especially loved that the story was told from multiple points of view—my favourite kind of narrative.

Reading from Alice’s chilling, detached perspective was a sharp and unsettling contrast to Lucy’s more protective and emotional character. It added a deeply psychological layer to the story, making it even more tense and compelling.

The characters were well crafted, each contributing something meaningful to the story—even in the smallest of appearances.

Sarah Denzil is a new author to me, but definitely not the last I’ll be reading from her. I’m excited to check out more of her work!

It’s a gripping, suspense-filled read that kept me turning pages late into the night.

Wholly crap! I don't even know where to start with this one!

A dad in prison, mom a teacher and wayward son make for a compelling drama. What I didn't expect was that final twist at the end. Probably one my favorite ARC books ever.

Without providing spoilers, just add it to your list to read. Immediately.

This book was pretty good the main character she went through a very wreckage stage in her life when she was pregnant, and she thought that one of her teachers was going to help her and she actually helped her captive!! that’s all I’m a giveaway. This book came out swinging from the very first chapter. It was hit by hit by hit by hit. It was very good. Very good. I loved it.

Loved!!!!! This is what a true psychological thriller should look like. It was so dark and twisted. I was literally on the edge of my seat the entire time. It was hard to even sleep after reading this one. It rattled me that much and that is hard to do. This authors books tends to do this to you and this is why I like them so much. They always make for one heck of read. So I don’t know where to start. How about the characters. Every character fit perfectly. Each of them had certain characteristics about them to make the story great. Next up the plot. The first sentence of the blurb is what really drew me in to this one. I just had to find out more after I read that tagline. Who wouldn’t find it interesting? This whole book was intriguing and different. When you read many books like I do you find that they are very similar to one another but not this one. It had a fresh story that kept me on my toes. I loved that. Now I want to talk about that ending. Wow, just wow. I never saw that coming not in a million years. I’m still trying to get over that one. Kudos to this author for writing such a wonderful read. I really enjoyed it and I would recommend it to everyone.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Behind the Locked Door is everything I love in a psychological thriller intense, chilling, and completely unputdownable. Sarah Denzil creates an atmosphere of dread that pulls you in from the very first page and never lets go. The tension builds layer by layer, and just when I thought I had it figured out, she surprised me again.

The characters felt so real, and the emotional undercurrent made the story even more haunting. It’s dark, gripping, and impossible to stop thinking about long after finishing. Denzil proves once again why she’s a master of the genre.
