I really enjoyed this as a opening chapter and how the characters worked well in the timelines, it had that overall feel that I was wanting and enjoyed from this type of book. The overall concept worked in the genre and was invested in the world that was developing. I enjoyed the characters and thought the overall way they were written so well and glad the opening chapter in the Earth Warder Chronicles were so well done that it left me wanting more. Kristen Coar has a strong writing style as I really enjoyed this book.

The Serpent and the Silver Wolf by Kristen Coar 🥷🐺
Holy cow. My anime-loving heart. 😍 Inspired by Naruto, this book feels just like watching an anime. It's full of action, excitement, and bad*ss shinobi vibes. It follows the main character, Aimee, through dual timelines as she navigates duty and love. With a twist, of course. Because Aimee isn't from this world. 👀
If you're a villain-loving girlie like me and thought Orochimaru from Naruto was kinda hot, or if you had a crush on a particular white-haired squad leader, you need to read this. NOW 🥵

This book has all the familiar vibes of a popular anime with unique elements that'll have you hooked. I could not get enough of this story and finished it in like 24 hours 😂
I genuinely cannot wait for the next book because I NEED to know what happens. @kristencoar_author, you're a genius. 🤩
⭐⭐⭐⭐.5/5

With a premise that reminded me of a darker, grown-up Avatar: The Last Airbender (with added spice), I was immediately intrigued by the world and setup.
Aimee, the main character, has lived countless lives — each one wiped clean by the Pattern, forcing her to start over and face death again. The emotional weight of that concept is compelling, and I appreciated the tension between duty, memory, and love.
That said, I struggled a bit with the structure. The timeline shifts frequently between past and present, which made the story harder to follow and made it tough to fully connect with the emotional arcs. I also found the characters — including the love interests — a bit surface-level. While there were moments of tension and depth, I didn’t feel a strong pull toward anyone in particular, and I remained fairly neutral about Aimee as a heroine. If you enjoy morally gray romance, reincarnation tropes, stories that don’t shy away from sacrifice, and more complicated magic systems this might be the book for you!
Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for the opportunity to read and review this ARC

This book had everything I needed to hate, I confess: two timelines and a love triangle. However, as I read on, I became increasingly addicted to these characters. The fantasy elements are very well developed, and I was hooked on the romantic pairings. It was one of the first times it didn't seem entirely obvious which choice the protagonist would make... although she didn't choose very well, after all, there will be more books!
Thank you NetGalley and the author for the eARC.

The description of the book intrigued me, as did the concept. It felt familiar to one of my favourite anime’s and I always enjoy a story that is rooted within Japanese culture, however, this felt too similar to Naruto. It came across as a self insert of the Naruto universe, with the male MC Kiba, representing Kakashi too closely whilst so did the other characters. Not quite sure if this was originally fan fiction that had been modified, but the similarities are too strong and left little room for its own development and world building. Additionally, the story felt rushed, including certain interactions.
I would suggest this for those that are looking for something such as Naruto and not an original story.

I really enjoyed this book, the characters and the storytelling. Loved the relationships between all 3 - usually not a fan of a triangle but it’s well done. Aimee is badass and I cannot wait to learn more about her backstory in the prequel - and what happens next!
This is a romantasy with strong world building.

Oh, I LOVED this!
The worldbuilding, the characters, the Serpent, and the Wolf. The dual timelines were fascinating, and I found myself wanting to read on in that timeline every time one of them paused for the other. Gripped!
The found family elements of this story are gorgeous, I love the Wolf Squad!
The complex love story? Absolutely captivating, the tension leaving me breathless on so many occasions.
I am absolutely ravenous for the next book.
