Love love love! The humor the romance the storyline! Yes more please! Kingsley hands down is the best comic relief I have read in a long time. The storyline kept you guessing and wanting more.

When everyone was reading and posting about this book, I was intrigued but also know romantasy is hit or miss for me. Too much world building and I get lost. I was not overwhelmed. Yay. I’m learning I need more cozy that true on fantasy.

I thought it was clever that Trystan is almost always referred to as the villain. It went back and forth in my brain reminding me that the villain is also a person. With feelings and plans for themselves.

I liked Evie and loved learning about what brought her to work for the villain. The villain is a little swoon worthy.

I liked the mystery thrown into the cozy fantasy. But note there isn’t enough to pick up the book for this. It’s also a little uneven and at times gets lost in the book.

And there are a lot of supporting characters. I finally started a list because I was tired of having to go back and see what I needed to know about that person.

But overall this was a fun read that kept me wanting more and that cliffhanger ending has me trying to find time to pick up book 2.

this book really said what if you took your boring corporate 9-5 and swapped Karen from HR for a hot morally questionable warlord. and honestly? i’d clock in early.

the banter had me giggling like a middle schooler with a crush. the villain himself? giving dark lord vibes but also like he would send you a good morning text unironically. and evie? girlie is just trying to get health insurance in a murder dungeon and i respect that hustle.

my absolute fav moment was when evie had to file paperwork while there were literal torture screams echoing through the hallway. like bestie is color coding binders while someone is being disemboweled three doors down. peak corporate girl survival energy.

the plot was a little predictable at times but i ate it up like it was free office snacks. it’s romcom energy with fantasy seasoning and i will absolutely be lining up for the sequel like it’s the first day of the annual PTO calendar.

I can't thank Entangled Publishing and Entangled Insiders enough for allowing me to read this book.

This was an amazing story. After reading this I definitely want to read the other books in the series. I loved the connection between the FMC. and the MMC. The villain could be ruthless when needed but he also had a softer side which I loved seeing the connection between these two was absolutely undeniable. The writing was spectacular and the character development was exceptional.

There were constant surprises and twists and turns in this book and I was glad to be along for the ride.

I would definitely recommend this book.

Assistant to the Villain was such a fun, unique read! I adored Evie—her sunshine personality balanced perfectly with the Villain’s broody intensity. Their banter had me laughing out loud, and the slow-burn tension kept me hooked the whole way through. I loved the quirky mix of dark humor and office comedy vibes, and the worldbuilding felt fresh and imaginative. The Villain was equal parts terrifying and swoony, which made every interaction electric. This book made me smile nonstop, and I couldn’t put it down. A perfect blend of romance, fantasy, and laugh-out-loud moments

HALP!

I really wanted to love this book, as I had heard so many good things about it! There were several cute parts (love Kingsley) and some layers to work through as well.

It’s not my typical go-to genre so I had a hard time staying focused.

Thank you to NetGalley and Entangled Publishing for the ARC.

I had heard of this book but never took the leap to read it. Holy airball! From the start this story had my attention and didn't disappoint through to the end. I love a good twist and while I typically figure things out, I was pleasantly surprised to realize I didn't see it coming! Evie was such a likeable character! I'm so over FMC who feel the need to prove things or get a massive ego. Evie was fun, mature and understood the importance of communication. Her banter with the Villian was perfect.. And I loved all conversations between them. I was so happy with this book, that I went and bought all three of them!

This book has been on my list for a long time and I’m so glad I finally got to read it! I’m a sucker for a morally gray mmc who will burn down the world for the fmc.

This book is sooooo cute! When Evie desperately needs a job she has to hide from her family that she’s working for the Villain. She’s such a funny and quirky character who just wants to help the Villain as they realize someone in the office is betraying them to the king. Of course I can’t forget the adorable Kingsley and his little signs. As we continue the story it becomes more and more clear that everyone in the office can see what Evie and the Villain refuse to admit.

There are twists that I didn’t see coming and the betrayer is not who I would have ever guessed. Where we leave off had me soooo glad I have two more books to get to read because I have to know what happens next with Evie, the Villain, and little Kingsley.

Thanks to entengled publishing for this arc I was able to participate in their recent read along which is such a fun they put on. I’m joining next weeks but first I have to see what happen in book which I already downloaded.

The first time I picked up this book, I honestly found it a bit slow and was mainly focused on figuring out who the “culprit” was. But on my reread, it felt like I was experiencing an entirely different story. I realized I hadn’t remembered much from my first read, which makes me think I just wasn’t in the right headspace at the time. This time around, I found myself thinking, wow, this book is so much more fun than I remembered!

What really stood out to me was the growth of the main characters—both individually and in their relationships with one another. I loved watching her strength shine through, especially how she stood up for herself and others without hesitation. That kind of strong female character energy always makes a story click for me. The way the ending sets up the next two books in the series has me so excited—I can’t wait to dive into book two and see where it all goes next.

I loved this book! Although this is a pretty popular book, I went in blind without checking the blurb. This book was not what I expected, It was soo much more! I loved Evie and the Villain, and it seems impossible not to fall in love with all those employed by The Villain. This book has it all- the romance, the mystery, humour and found family.

This was amazing! The slow burn between the two was great, because they were both kind of flirting with each other but it was so awkward. The best part is them acknowledging how awkward they are with each other sometimes.
The plot line is great and I can't wait to continue the story with book two. The comic relief though is the best. I listened to the audio book and I had so many times that I was laughing out loud.
The plot twist at the end though was crazy, as soon as it started I knew where it was going but OMG I can't even with her Dad.
But I am so excited to see what happens next.

This is such a fun read—loved the silly over the top humor and banter, it’s campy and I’m all for it! I wasn’t aware this was a TikTok popularized book, but it’s one that came up in my virtual book club monthly reads and Entangled Insiders readalong. I love sunshine FMC x grumpy MMC tropes, and Evie and Trystan slowessseet of burns romance (can you even call it a romance yet, it’s all long looks and missed moments and swoon still!) is my favorite. Kingsley steals the show with his little signs, and my heart too!

Go into this book for the vibes and don’t take it too seriously!

I’m already on my way into book 2!

This is a VERY ENTERTAINING book! It definitely satisfies an itch for fairytale romances with a twist. Maehrer’s world building, characters, and overall plot are well done. I can’t believe I didn’t pick this book up sooner...If you are looking for a fun read that still has a fantasy/fairytale vibe with a cast of fun and grumpy characters, definitely pick this one up!

Thank you to Riki Cleveland, and the Entangled team for allowing me to join the read along of “Assistant to the Villain”!

This was such a cute & fun read! While the story had plenty of murder & mayhem - this was incredibly lighthearded and cozy! Evie and Trystan - I cannot wait to see their relationship continue to grow and Trytan's soft side come out more and more (even though he won't admit it!). When he calls her LITTLE TORNADO - I literally cannot. I think that is my new favorite pet name ever.

I thought the story was easy to follow and definitely had lots of twists and kept me engaged throughout.

I also listened to the audiobook of this and thought the narrator for Evie was PERFECT - her voice and intonations matched Evie's character so well. I loved it!

I participated in the Entangled Readalong - I love doing these but I feel like they are a little too fast-paced sometimes!

i received this copy for the entangled insiders read a long, and i had so much fun reading this and discussing it with fellow book lovers! i really enjoyed the characters in this book and watching them develop as the book went on. i liked the premise of the budding workplace romance, and there were some fun humorous moments.

I read this in a readalong with Entangled Publishing and really liked it!
Evie accepts a job as an assistant to the Villain, and it turns out to be way more than she expected.
While Evie is cheerful and happy, the Villain is the exact opposite. I loved how she rubs off on him throughout the book. The connection between the two of them is evident from the start, and I loved how their relationship evolved throughout the story. I loved how clumsy and nonchalant Evie was, and how she would get into these dangerous predicaments and just be like, Oh well!
The pacing in this one was really good. I listened to the audio and read the eBook, and didn't feel bored at all while reading or listening. There was so much humor and banter, and it kept me interested throughout.
This one has no spice, and I was okay with that! The plot itself was enough without it, and the twists were really well done. I will most likely be reading the rest of this series!

I loved the cozy mystery vibes. It was so much fun trying to figure out who was sabotaging the Villain and it was an unexpected ending! I adore a well done plot twist.

The romance? The pining, the communication, yes please! Perfection. No spice here but it's so well done you really don't need it. I can't wait to see how it develops.

I didn't want to put it down. That cliffhanger! Wow I need book 2 now. It was fun, it was light-hearted, and so very entertaining.

Absolutely binge worthy!
