The illustrations were magnificent. I wish the story had been longer. A couple of good life lessons, too.

I was blessed with an ARC. Thank you, NetGalley. The opinions expressed are my own and unbiased.

A tale of acceptance, understanding and overcoming prejudice, this book is recommended for children of all ages and educators looking to add a gentle story about accepting others who may be different from ourselves.

Rainbow Fish is back and this time he has to put his feelings aside to help everyone. He solves a miss understanding and helps everyone in the reef. This would be great for helping students solve conflict and learn peer communication skills. I loved this one.

So cute! I’ve only ever read the original Rainbow Fish book and didn’t realize there were more. Will definitely be reading the others as my kids loved this one and I loved the lesson behind it.

The message in this book is about talking to others rather than making assumptions. That hurting people’s feelings makes things worse. However, the story ends rather abruptly. Rainbow fish has been a lot better than this. The artwork is still amazing, but the stories only so-so.

The new Rainbow Fish book is another great addition to the collection. The illustrations, as always, are sparkly and beautiful, but the message is what really sealed the deal for me and that is that even when people don't agree, they can figure a way to sort things out if they try hard enough. This will be a great book for storytime at my library and also a way to open the door to discussions about being peaceful with others. I look forward to our littlest patrons and their parents reading it. Recommended.

A classic returns with meaningful, relevant themes and accompanied by lovely artwork! Perhaps the book could've been a little longer.

Rainbow Fish and his friends are happily eating krill when a large whale enters their reef and also eats the krill. The whale stares at the fish, who become afraid of the whale and start yelling at him. Rainbow Fish figures out how to solve this problem in an acceptable and decent way. The pictures are colorful and fun to look at. Thanks to NetGalley and NorthSouth Books Inc. to providing an ARC.

I read this along with my 7 year old daughter who loves rainbow fish books.

We really enjoyed the graphics as always. The whale was beautiful. We did think the story could have been a bit longer (she says just 2 pages or something) to continue on with it.

I owned a board book of this series when my son was very young. It was so pretty with the silvery foil gills twinkling on the board pages. This is a very short book that only took a couple of minutes to read. I checked and the physical book is 14 pages. I found the storyline to be very thin. A very large whale invades the area where the rainbow fish feed on krill. He is hungry also. The rainbow fish become wary and feel a bit threatened because of the whale's size, and the fact that he's staring at them. There is a slight tussle among the fish and it scares away the krill leaving them all hungry. The Rainbow Fish bravely approaches the whale to talk over their differences and it turns out that the whale was staring at the rainbow fish because they are so beautiful. So the lessons of bravery, misunderstandings, and friendship come to the fore in this story. This is geared towards 0-3 years old, so it's a very simple story for the little tots to digest. Perhaps I was the wrong audience!

Thank you to the publisher NorthSouth Books for providing an advance reader copy via NetGalley.

I remember reading this series when I was younger! It was very cute to go back to my childhood for a bit! This book shows never to judge a book by its cover! It's always good to start this topic young!

I read the original "Rainbow Fish" book as a kid and had no idea there were more, so I was excited to see this one on here! As an aunt and part-time nanny, I am always on the lookout for good children's books. I am a especially interested in ones for my nephew that highlight the importance of sensitivity, feelings, and kindness—all important things for little boys to read about at an early age. This book struck that chord. The ending felt a bit abrupt and I wish more time had been given to the fish and the whale making amends, but it was still a lovely book.

This is such an adorable book! My niece is right around the age where she is starting to develop her own taste in children's books, so Iv'e started to introduce her to a slew of them. The Rainbow Fish books were classic pieces of my childhood and I loved them as a kid myself.
It's so heartening to see her enjoy them now, too.

She loves the gorgeous illustrations and this is a great, repeated story I can read with her whenever she is with me.

I received an electric ARC from NorthSouth Books Inc. through NetGalley.
Rainbow Fish and his friends were enjoying a peaceful day together when a large blue whale came by. The whale stayed and the friends were scared. They hurt his feelings and readers see him go from feeling sad to angry. Rainbow Fish realizes they need to talk with each other. When he does talk with the whale, he discovers the whale liked the shiny scales. Terrific to talk about being brave and meeting new people. This also works for talking about sensitivity to others' feelings. Lovely and colorful illustrations.

A timeless tale of the dangers of prejudice, reduced to a story all but the youngest of readers can understand. The fish don't like the big whale coming along, eating their krill – and then stopping and just staring at them. And the whale proves it can be dangerous to be around – but our hero the Rainbow Fish is able to save the day. This reads very easily, looks a marvel, and still gets its message across, however much may have been cropped from the original. It's a shame it leaves out Rainbow Fish and the others actually reacting to how the whale justifies what he did, for it could have managed five stars then – I think there is a case to say this can trim too many key bits of the story just to keep the moral intact. But four stars is certainly justified.

Young Rainbow Fish understands that misunderstandings sometimes happen, and that no one should be bullied out of fear. A universal theme presents itself in this beautifully written story because readers find themselves in a society where some have been labeled without proper justification. Adults will gladly admit they are completely aware that whales are perhaps the most gentle and beloved creatures of the sea, however learning children are still discovering this information about how sea life interact.

Basically, Rainbow Fish Makes Peace is a children's picture book that teaches the importance of accepting new people, learning to love people for who they really are, and never allowing yourself to become a member of the bullying culture.

Rainbow Fish understand the importance of patience, empathy, open communication, kindness, and respect.

I was excited to read this to my kids because they like the other Rainbow Fish books.

I think its super important, especially in the current world that we're living in, to recognize that different does not mean bad. And also to remember not to assume you know things about another person. I think a lot of politicians should read this, but I don't think they'd get it.

Shout out to Netgalley for this cute read. My son who's 3 years old, loved the pictures in the book, especially when the whale came in. All the cool pictures made him excited to keep going. Any book that can keep my son interested until its done is a win win for me..

This book would be great for a reading circle at preschool. It talks about misunderstandings (which happen in real life all the time.) I like how the overall theme was that we should all get along, and that the journey together is better than going it alone. Great illustrations.

The Rainbow Fish was one of my favorite books as a child and the imagery and message have stayed with me well into adulthood. At 35, I can safely say this is probably where my lifelong love of sparkles began. ✨

Pfister returns with another installment in the Rainbow Fish series, this time exploring the harm of assumptions and miscommunication.

As always, the art is gorgeous and instantly recognizable. That said, this one felt a little too brief. The ending came a bit abruptly, and I would have loved to see more interaction between Rainbow Fish and the whale beyond their single conversation.

Still, Rainbow Fish will always hold a soft spot in my heart, and this is a lovely addition to the series.

Thank you to NetGalley, NorthSouth Books Inc., and Marcus Pfister for this advanced copy in exchange for my honest opinion.
