This was good, but not great. Perhaps something was "lost" in the translation?

Nice that Rainbow Fish could make peace with the whale, but its not going to be clear to young children why they were fighting in the first place.

The best part is the art- especially if the rainbow fins are printed on shiny foil paper.

Read as an e-ARC thanks to NorthSouth Books via NetGalley. Publication date: October 7, 2025

Feelings are importance. In “Rainbow Fish Makes Peace” by Marcus Pfister, there’s not much communication, things are assumed, misunderstandings happen, and feelings are hurt. When Rainbow Fish decides to communicate, things get cleared up and every fish can live in peace and plenty.

Communication is such a simple and important concept. When one assumes, misunderstandings happen that could be avoided. These are feelings that even a young child can understand. The Rainbow Fish story makes it simple to see how easy it is to misunderstand and, equally, how easy it can be to just communicate. This is a basic lesson that all can learn over and over. “Rainbow Fish Makes Peace” is a wonderful addition to the series. It can be enjoyed by all ages, but especially by young children ages one year and up.

I wish to thank NorthSouth Books for the complimentary eARC of this book and for selecting me to review it on NetGalley. All opinions are my own.

My kids love the rainbow fish series and this was equally cute, with another great message. Rainbow Fish Makes Peace is a sweet story with a great lesson about how to navigate misunderstandings, conflict with others, and how to apologize and repair a relationship after conflict. The illustrations were very well done and I appreciate how the author always gets the important message across in such a short story that younger kids can attend to long enough to fully hear and understand. Overall a great read for young reader. Thank you to the author, publisher, and NetGalley for the ARC in return for my honest review.

I have adored the Rainbow Fish books since my childhood. My passion for collecting children’s books stems from their stunning illustrations. So, when I came across this gem, I knew I had to take a closer look and read it. It certainly didn’t let me down; it evoked a wave of nostalgia and cherished memories from my younger days. I remain captivated by the illustrations, and I genuinely believe it ranks among my favorite artworks, especially with its gorgeous fish and their scales. The Rainbow Fish always imparts a valuable moral and message, which I truly appreciate. Overall, it is a must-have addition to any child's library.

This was a cute enough sequel to the classic. Decided to read this before buying for my new nephew haha. Is it odd to say it wasn't as fun as the original?

I am a preschool teacher in the Fish class, so I love every single Rainbow Fish book and love to read them to my class. This book will make a great addition to my library. I love the message about not judging others and apologizing when feelings are hurt. Rainbow Fish books do a great job of teaching meaningful lessons in such a fun way that the children don't even know they're learning social-emotional skills when reading! The pictures in this book were beautiful as always. I can't wait to share this with my little Fish at preschool! I received a free copy of this book from Netgalley and the publisher in exchange for my honest review.

Another adventure for Rainbow Fish and friends! Rainbow Fish must help his friends when a large whale enters their ocean space. Is the whale judging the fish with the jagged fins? Is the whale mean and trying to eat all the krill? Rainbow Fish decides to approach the whale and learns that it was all a misunderstanding! Healing hurt feelings on both sides, this is a great short story with familiar friends to help children practice understanding and not rush to conclusions.

This is a short and easy to read children's book that I'd suggest for 2+. There's a lesson to be learned about communicating with others and this story could be a gateway into a child-friendly conversation about social/emotional skills. I could see myself reading this to my class of 3-3.5 year olds and asking them questions about what they would do in a similar situation.
As all of the rainbow fish books, the artwork was beautifully done.

⭐️⭐️⭐️in this board book, Rainbow Fish and all friends are worried when a whale comes to their neighborhood and begins to eat all their krill. Rainbow Fish talks with the whale and everyone works together.
Thank you NetGalley for this book.

This was a very sweet little book and my daughter enjoyed both the storyline and the beautiful illustrations. It's a lovely story to teach children about the importance of being kind but also about how we can try and solve problems in an appropriate way. My daughter was very pleased the whale and the fish worked things out the way they did.

Thank you for the ARC. This was a very short story about the important of communication. It was a bit shorter than I expected but still a good message with wonderful illustrations.

Rainbow Fish Makes Peace by Marcus Pfisher is a very cute addition to the Rainbow Fish universe. Rainbow Fish helps young readers further understand how important it is to communicate with others as conflict resolution and making friends.

Thank you to NetGalley for the ARC of Rainbow Fish Makes Peace. This book has beautiful illustrations, however the story is so short and ends so abruptly. It would be nice to see some further details! Due to the very short length, I would recommend for younger kids. This could still be a good jumping off point to discussing how problems can be solved, but I think this missed the mark over all.

I remember reading rainbow fish as a child and it was such a cute book. I love that generations after me get to experience new Rainbow fish books. I love the lesson in this book. I can't wait to share with all my friends so they can read them to their kids.

This was cute and uplifting, and though it's really short I think that makes it perfect for very young audiences. This book can help teach how to be more understanding and have more empathy for others because you might not know the reason they're doing something and so communicating with someone when you have an issue with them is important. Also the art is pretty.

Thank you to Netgalley for the arc! This doesn't affect my thoughts or rating.

This was such a sweet book. I remember reading Rainbow fish as a child and reading this new tale was so fun! I love the premise of the book that without communication we may assume the worst in people, even when they have the best of intentions.

This is a very cute board book for the littlest readers. The illustrations are stunning and eye catching. I love board books that have an actual story to be read and not just pictures. This story was simple enough and teaches an important lesson about apologizing and communicating. An excellent addition to The Rainbow Fish collection.

There's another Rainbow Fish book? -me after seeing "Rainbow Fish Makes Peace. I remember reading these when I was a kid! I'm so excited that a new generation gets to experience one of my favorite picture books of all time.

In "Rainbow Fish Makes Peace", Rainbow Fish and his friends are approached by a scary whale, and they worry that he will eat them! The fish hurt the whale's feelings, causing the whale to lash out, scaring away all the krill the group was eating. Now Rainbow Fish has to apologize and make things right, even though he is scared.

"Rainbow Fish Makes Peace" teaches important messages about bravery, compassion, and forgiveness, alongside gorgeous undersea illustrations featuring our favorite shiny-scaled fish!
