This book on suffering is approachable for children 8-12 and has lots of good reminders. The format of the book is very good, with a reflection question and prayer after each short devotional; vocabulary words are also included.
Though the book is generally Biblically sound, though I don’t think it’s accurate to say that God doesn’t punish sin. We know God doesn’t punish believers’ sin eternally because of Jesus, but sin definitely still has consequences in this lifetime. (Of course, not all of someone’s suffering is caused by his or her sin, as the book rightly cites from John 9!) It was also a bit repetitive at times. For those reasons, I give this book 4 stars instead of 5.
Overall, this is a good resource for children who have questions about pain and suffering and want answers from a Christian perspective; parents may just want to correct one point.
